Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

Recommended A great old-school RPG that still holds up today. The story, character customization, and spell system are amazing. The graphics are dated, but the gameplay and freedom easily make up for it. Definitely recommended for fans of classic Dungeons & Dragons games.

Oh man what a game. After 25 years I've finished it. Main story is ok. Some of the side stories and companions are more interesting. Lots of ways to solve problems and many builds to play with. 100% must play even though it's old.

Neverwinter Nights is a solid game, especially for its time - a faithful recreation of the D&D ruleset and mechanics, adapted to real-time combat engagements. But for me, this was never quite the draw, even if it certainly is part of it. No, the *real* allure of NWN comes from its roleplaying community: namely the online servers, still ongoing in development and community engagement, that have taken their own twist on the formula in new and exciting ways. Arelith has taken the classical route of might and magic, being perhaps the most faithful to its base source material - D&D in a large, sprawling network of maps that interconnect (even across two servers, seamlessly!) to create a vast play area for you to explore with friends made along the way. Ravenloft, meanwhile, focuses on a more grim adaptation; based on the Curse of Strahd campaign, theirs is an unforgiving and thoroughly engaging playing field with a tight-knit but sizeable community. Lastly I'll mention a server I've spent a good deal of time on lately, Star Wars LOR - changing the genre of the game entirely via heavy modification of the game's systems and assets to instead be high fantasy sci-fi, complete with playable droids, ewoks, wookiees, jedi... Even space combat has been made possible via modding, truly showing just how much the engine can be manipulated. All this to say, that whilst the game is certainly a classic - do not be afraid to explore what its community has wrought as well! A small but endlessly passionate collective can make wonders with tools such as NWN provides, and they certainly have.

Old school 3.0 DND, great practice for a new person before an at table game

Why I would never recommend this game. thought it came out in 2002, and the new content was also easy to download, at the time of posting, i tried to download a new campaign and the system wanted me to re-enter my password from 20 years ago that Steam had always remember, asked me to re-enter my password and also asked me to solve a puzzle. This was extremely frustrating, long story short, I didn't do any of these thing and this experience has ruined this game to the point I no longer have any desire to purchase or download anything ever again. Guess I’ll spend a few dollars else ware and I imagine I’ll haver to go through the trouble of changing my password and solving another puzzle just to get a reply from the company, long story short, ♥♥♥♥ them, and the hopes I have to go through just to give them a few buck for the new campaign. ♥♥♥♥ this company don’t give them your money. also steam tried to not alway comments or replies, clearly i'm not the first one to complain about this

Great basic play...true to the old D&D Great story line too. I like the side quests.
