14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is probably the most divisive Metal Gear Solid game (at least of the first 3) but it's always been my favourite. It just cranks the madness up to eleven as the game progresses, and it has a lot of gameplay improvements over the first one. The plot gets gloriously unhinged in a delightful way; I think it may be the maximum levels of Kojima-madness of any of the series (it's close with MGS 4). I think the game was maligned a little due to the fact you play as Raiden most of the time, but Solid Snake is still a heavy presence and Raiden is a better character self-insert as he's lost in the plot most of the time. Rose, on the other hand, is unbearable, I'll give the haters that. And as for this version, it ran well on Max Resolution mode on my potato of a computer, never crashed, and unlike the first one, all of the achievements popped on the first try when they should. It's full of solid content (I wish that was pun intended) and made it feel like it was the early 2000s again.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This game, like MGS1, truly stands the test of time. The level of detail in the game world from the many options to tackle scenarios in gameplay to small details like cloth and hair physics (in 2001!), to the action-packed, gut-wrenching and melodramatic cutscenes and story beats that are just as relevant today as they were two decades ago in regards to the rise of misinformation and AI, with way deeper topics hidden inbetween. This game truly is a gem, and I'm glad I've experienced it at least once in my life.
Life isn't just about passing on your genes. We can leave behind much more than just DNA
"You know, in Metal Gear Solid 2 they predicted all this."
Life isn't just about passing on your genes. We can leave behind much more than just DNA. Through speech, music, literature and movies...what we've seen, heard, felt...anger, joy and sorrow...these are the things I will pass on. That's what I live for. We need to pass the torch, and let our children read our messy and sad history by its light. We have all the magic of the digital age to do that with. The human race will probably come to an end some time, and new species may rule over this planet. Earth may not be forever, but we still have the responsibility to leave what traces of life we can. Building the future and keeping the past alive are one and the same thing.
PEAK MGS
—“Is he called Vamp because he drinks blood?” —“No, it's because he's bisexual. Kojima’s Prophecy: Back in 2001, the story was already talking about algorithms controlling information on the internet, fake news, echo chambers, and people drowning in digital noise. Today, that’s not sci-fi—that’s just our average social media feed.
A lot of improvements from MGS1 from gameplay to characters, and you can see how much love Kojima has cinematography and movies in this game.
Spent 2hrs reading and trying multiple fixes, installing supposed mod fixes and still no working controller support for my Xbox or 8bitDo controllers... Horrible port. I grew up playing these games and sadly I'm unable to revisit them. Mouse and keyboard layout is abysmal!
I love this game, but this version is unbeatable thanks to a consistent game-breaking bug that causes it to hang indefinitely during one of the later cutscenes. Turns out this bug has been known since release, and the only way to get around it is with a fan-made mod, but after a full day of trying I couldn't get the mod to work. This game should not have been released in this state, and it should have been fixed when it was discovered. Completely unacceptable. Save your money. EDIT: I managed to get the mod to work and finish the game, but I'm still leaving this review as Not Recommended as long as the game is broken officially. This is a new port. It's supposed to be the "Master Collection". It should be possible to beat it without modding. The fact that it isn't tells me Konami don't have a serious commitment to these releases.
