Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The second installment saves this review from getting a thumbs down, play if you want to complete your MGS adventure, but be prepared for some very rough edges especially in the first game. Still, there's a lot to love about these games and how they shaped the MGS universe. Metal Gear 1 is a very unrefined game, it is a trial and error process with some unlogical and often frustrating design choices where your time is not respected. I can imagine this was an extreme game for its time given there's so many vague mission directives that would take many hours to figure out without internet. This I would give a thumbs down, only play this when you persist on playing all titles at least once and don't be ashamed to occasionally look in a walkthrough. This game does bring so many gimmicks that return in later installments. Its nice to see those future titles giving the wink to the lesser known previous games. Then theres Metal Gear 2. An upgrade on almost all fronts, keeping the spirit alive but with some much needed improvements. Metal Gear 2 starts to introduce even more elements that now start to shape the MGS essence. Still frustrating at times, and easy to get stuck if you forget what was said but the writing is finally getting a good spotlight in this game. There is emotion, and multiple parts where the game feels like it builds up towards surprises and fireworks.

These are really old games and as such have difficult and bonkers puzzles at times. Trying to beat these games by yourself without a guide is commendable but will also be a large time sink. If you want to beat the games in a more timely manner following a guide is not horrible, I did so and still had a lot of fun with the games despite following a guide. Overall I like the simplistic gameplay of MG 1 and find that the alert and evade system of MG 2 is pretty difficult to deal with. Not being able to see the vision cone of guards in MG 2 like you can in future games is really frustrating. But enough of that, what I like about MG 2 is the movie vibes and the fact that there is a real story. MG 1 also has a twist that I absolutely fell for despite how well known it is. Overall I think the jump in difficulty in MG 2 will be very noticeable. I think the games are absolutely worth playing if you want to get into the Metal Gear franchise and think that it is a pretty good starting point overall. 5/10 and 6/10

Guy can’t hold a keycard and wear a gas mask at the same time its unbearable. Its not challenging in a fun way its just tedious and kind of boring
