On a whole, the game is actually pretty neat and there's a lot of ideas in the original Lords of the Fallen that would then be used by Deck13 in the Surge games to great effect. It ironically also feels more distinct and unique than the 2023 game. But at the end of the day, the game crashes. Sometimes it crashes a lot, and when it's crashing it's crashing for reasons I can't figure out. Can't figure out how to set it to 60 FPS either which supposedly fixes the problem either. This is a massive problem for a Soulslike game where your progress ISN'T saved on every kill or item acquisition, but rather only when you die or otherwise rest at a checkpoint. This is further compounded by how at high stat levels, the amount of experience necessary to level up is so astronomical you really want to try to get the most mileage out of your the experience multiplier that builds up as you kill enemies... but this also comes with the lurking danger that you can lose all your progress the instant the game decides to crash on you. The DLC is also absolutely terrible and very lazily made. Most of the "new" enemies in it are just skeletal versions of the endgame enemies. The DLC also has a lot of enemies in it who are explicitly immune to physical damage; if you don't have a good weapon that does non-physical damage then you're stuck just using your ranged attacks from your Gauntlet. Assuming you're willing to put up with the crashes, is it worth getting when it's on sale? Sure, especially if you're a fan of Deck13's later works. The 2023 game disregards the worldbuilding and plot beats of this game freely though so if you're just a fan of the CI Games side of things then it's an easy pass.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Game is too hard I almost smashed my monitor and started ripping my hair off , I got stuck and died 20 times on random mob with shield then after him are 5 fast hitting zombies , you need to change your weapons mid fight depending on enemy because if you use heavy armour and heavy weapons you are very very slow and you can hit only 2 times before your energy expires , buy if you use light weapons and light armour with no shield you are bassically one hit target and instant death , I really tried but a game shouldnt be this difficult I just wanted to relax afer work I like fighting games but this is too hard .. my head hurts now and I want to trow my monitor trough my window down on the road.
good game
Nota: 6/10

Its ok compared to some worse souls like games, and i don't expect much of it since its over a decade old, but there's a lot of glaring issues with the combat. Everything feels so slow unless you main a rouge class, and even then its a slog trying to train your stats. there's a couple enemies after the second boss that are a pain in the rear to deal with. there is one you meet near a checkpoint outside the outer walls that attacks very fast and pretty much has an insta kill move, all the while carrying a massive shield so you can only attack after a parry. which would be fine of the parry window wasn't nearly impossible to find. i spent a good hour and a half trying to parry each of his moves to find out where the window was and it really seems like its nonexistent if you don't hit it frame perfect. there's also smaller shield guys that are more annoying than anything. its prob a skill issue on my part, but i just don't find that much enjoyment in enemies that don't have a clear tactic besides bum rushing you or hiding behind a shield with a pokey stick. I hear that the newer game is better, so id try that one out instead. there's not much reason to play this one when the new game has made a lot of improvements.
Une bouse sans fin.
