Do NOT buy this game. It is severely unfinished abandonware. The devs made a start on it, then just upped and left years ago. But for some reason its still for sale on here.

So, I've seen the negative reviews, by the same folk who's troubleshooting may go so far as to state "it crashed", and wonder why the developers can't fix it. Chances are if your investigation is that vague, it's likely, your own end. Now, for the not so tech savvy, don't worry, this game is stable for myself, and I've ran it on 3 laptops and 2 desktops over it's release, and had no issues, and i didn't need a sonic screwdriver to make it work. As it often gets compared to banished, i will say they are very similar, but this game has a lot, a lot more building variation, so your city doesn't wind up looking like a giant copy and paste effort. You build building, game draws from a range of different art assets, a dozen houses, when you just build, house, meaning there's a very organic feel to it. Performance is smooth, except when winter first comes, and that snow effect loads....especially if it thaws, snows, thaws, and snows again, in quick succession...this is when i go make a coffee, instead of raging like a self entitled teenager at MyFirstProm™. This is a casual game... mostly. Seasons can be harsh, but you'll get the hang of it quickly... or not. Lanscaping options, the ability to set up walls, fend off raiders, setting up a tower defense, and mod support to improve all aspects, add buildings, are all positives. Yes the game is dated now..... but, honestly, half the trash clones coming out now with "better graphics", are that horrible blocky cartoon style, so i say better is subjective. I have yet to find a solid game to take this one's crown. Absolutely recommended if it's on sale, but for those of you that are into these city/colony sims (more small scale sim city, not true colony like RimWorld) it really is worth the asking price, in my opinion.
This review is very late to the game. I was scrolling through my games and decided to put this out there on a whim for anyone who may still be considering this game. I bought Early Access hoping to support a spiritual successor to Banished. For a while development was good and it was making slow and steady progress. Eventually there was a shift and features and mechanics were being pumped out with a fair bit of jank to them. Then a very sudden 1.0 release, followed by one or two updates for a few fixes, that was it. I don't feel it is really finished. If you want to get to a very late game town you essential need mods to fix/work around some of the janky mechanics like item distribution. I'm sure many people could get enjoyment from it but there are other options that will probably provide you better value. I already own it and will likely install it every few years and build up a town but I do not recommend new players buy this game.
Don't get me wrong, i don't think this game is very difficult. It would be nice, relaxing after-work escape from reality, however, crappy AI and user interface make it frustrating instead. Few examples: 1. Folks going for suicidal mission in -20C to the furthest tree in forester hut range to cut one tree while they have 20 other trees close to their warm homes that are also in range. 2. Kids dying in their warm houses with plenty of food as they "were not able to move" whatever it means. 3. Wild bears and other animals wandering around the city like normal citizens. 4. No tooltips for anything - you don't know what new building does until you build it to realise you placed in in the worst location possible. 5. Actually it feels like there is no interface at all - whole game difficulty is created by the fact that you don't know how everything works. Everything is trial and error. 6. Once you click to demolish building - there is no way to cancel it In general, the game feels like it should have never passed the beta stage.
Abandon
Promising game, but abandoned. It hasn't seen an update since 2020. Don't waste your money on a project that the devs have given up on
Game was a promising sequel to Banished, but it's getting worse and worse, AI is getting worse, people randomly become homeless (even if there is enough housing and they weren't homeless a minute ago), people randomly start starving to death, UI is not improving. Recently it even started lagging and stuttering immensely on top notch setups.
Beware :Abandonware
half finished game abandoned by the developers. not worth buying. yes it has potential but as of how it was left i even wish i could get my money back.
