ICEY is a 2D side-scrolling action game and a META game in disguise. As you follow the narrator's omnipresent voice, you will see through ICEY's eyes and learn the truth about her world. The narrator will constantly urge you in one direction, but you must ask, "Why? Why am I following his directions?“ Obey? Rebel?

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Aug 20 → 6.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews

ICEY is a stylish side-scrolling action game that initially appears to be a straightforward cyberpunk hack-and-slash adventure but gradually reveals itself as something much stranger and more creative. Beneath the fast combat and futuristic visuals is a heavily self-aware narrative that constantly challenges player expectations and plays with the relationship between games, storytelling, and player freedom. What begins as a mission-driven action game slowly transforms into an experience built around disobedience, curiosity, and experimentation, giving ICEY a unique identity that separates it from many other indie action titles. The combat system is immediately enjoyable because of how fluid and responsive everything feels. ICEY moves quickly across levels while chaining together sword attacks, aerial combos, dodges, and devastating finishing strikes against waves of robotic enemies. The controls are smooth and easy to understand, making battles feel fast and energetic from the very beginning. Combat emphasizes aggression and momentum, encouraging players to remain constantly mobile while avoiding incoming attacks through careful timing. The action feels stylish without becoming overly complicated, which allows players to focus on maintaining the pace of combat rather than memorizing overly complex mechanics. Boss fights are especially memorable because they combine cinematic presentation with intense attack patterns and visually impressive encounters. Large mechanical enemies fill the screen with projectiles, lasers, and environmental hazards that force players to react quickly while maintaining offensive pressure. These battles create some of the game’s strongest moments because they fully embrace the flashy cyberpunk aesthetic while still demanding skill and attention from the player. Even when the fights become chaotic, the controls remain responsive enough to keep combat satisfying. While the gameplay itself is entertaining, the real strength of ICEY lies in its narrative design. Throughout the game, a narrator constantly explains objectives and attempts to guide the player toward the “correct” path. However, the experience becomes significantly more interesting once players begin intentionally ignoring those instructions. Exploring alternate routes, refusing commands, or investigating hidden areas causes the narrator to react with frustration, sarcasm, and confusion. This creates an unusual relationship between the game and the player where disobedience becomes part of the core experience. The game constantly rewards curiosity. Some of the most memorable scenes only occur when players deliberately avoid progressing normally and instead experiment with areas or choices that appear unimportant. Hidden conversations, secret events, alternate endings, and unexpected narrative twists encourage exploration far beyond the main objective markers. The deeper players investigate, the more the game begins questioning ideas about free will, player control, and the illusion of choice within videogames. These philosophical themes give the story far more depth than its flashy action exterior initially suggests. Visually, ICEY embraces a sleek anime-inspired cyberpunk style filled with glowing futuristic environments, mechanical enemies, and colorful combat effects. The animation work is particularly impressive during combat because attacks flow smoothly together and create a strong sense of speed and impact. Explosions, particle effects, and boss attack sequences constantly make battles feel dynamic and stylish. The game’s visual presentation may not be technically groundbreaking, but its strong art direction gives it a memorable identity that fits perfectly with the fast-paced gameplay. The soundtrack and sound design also play a major role in maintaining the game’s atmosphere. Combat music is energetic and aggressive, helping battles feel intense without becoming overwhelming, while quieter moments allow the narrator’s commentary and story revelations to take center stage. Voice acting is especially important because much of the game’s personality depends on the narrator’s reactions to the player’s actions. His gradual frustration and attempts to maintain control over the story become increasingly entertaining as the game progresses. Another strength of ICEY is its pacing. The game is relatively short compared to larger action titles, but that compact length actually works in its favor because the experience rarely feels stretched out or repetitive. New bosses, gameplay twists, and narrative surprises appear frequently enough to maintain momentum from beginning to end. The shorter runtime also encourages replayability because discovering hidden routes and alternate endings becomes a major part of the overall experience. However, ICEY is not without weaknesses. Although the combat feels smooth and flashy, it does not offer the same mechanical depth found in more advanced character action games. Basic button combinations remain effective against many regular enemies, meaning players are not always pushed to fully master the combat system. Some encounters can also begin to feel repetitive over time because enemy variety is somewhat limited and later stages occasionally rely on familiar combat patterns. The game’s narrative style may also divide players. Those who enjoy meta storytelling and fourth-wall-breaking humor will likely appreciate the constant interaction between the narrator and the player, while others may find the interruptions distracting or overly self-aware. Players expecting a purely action-focused experience may become frustrated by how heavily the game encourages experimentation and exploration outside the intended path. Difficulty balance can occasionally feel uneven as well. Certain enemy attacks and boss sequences can trap players in frustrating damage loops, creating moments where combat feels unfair rather than challenging. These issues are relatively minor overall, but they occasionally disrupt the otherwise smooth pacing of the action. Despite these flaws, ICEY succeeds because of how confidently it combines stylish combat with experimental storytelling. The game constantly manipulates expectations and encourages players to think beyond the immediate objective. Every hidden path, secret interaction, and unexpected narrative shift contributes to an experience that feels far more memorable than a standard cyberpunk action game. What ultimately makes ICEY stand out is its willingness to directly challenge the player’s role within the game itself. It constantly asks whether players are truly making decisions or simply following instructions placed in front of them. That philosophical layer adds surprising depth to what could have otherwise been a simple hack-and-slash adventure. ICEY may not have the deepest combat system or the largest amount of content, but it delivers a highly creative and entertaining experience filled with style, personality, and clever narrative experimentation. Its combination of smooth action gameplay, rewarding exploration, memorable boss fights, and self-aware storytelling creates an adventure that remains distinctive long after it ends. While some repetitive combat and divisive narrative choices prevent it from appealing to everyone, the game’s originality and confidence make it one of the more unique indie action titles available on Steam. Rating: 8/10
Seems fun at first, but going foward you start to see the cracks of the gameplay, too many enemies have hyper armor, perfect dodge has a bad timing, too few ways to gain money, you do too little damage and have too little hp and armor. The combat is annoying, and in a 2D action game ita Pretty bad to see. I still recommemd it on sale though, try it. The narrator is Pretty funny but it gets repetitive eventually, and finally the game is very short. At least icey on blazblue entropy effect is very fun
