Greetings Enforcer, and thank you for enlisting in the Hypnospace Patrol Department! As the corporatocracy sleeps, outlaws are out there committing terrible transgressions all across our beloved Hypnospace, and these virtual streets aren't going to police themselves!
Hypnospace Outlaw is a '90s internet simulator in which you scour Hypnospace's wide variety of weird and wonderful websites to hunt down wrongdoers, while also keeping an eye on your inbox, avoiding viruses and adware, and downloading a plethora of apps that may or may not be useful.
As part of your job as a Hypnospace Enforcer, you'll be watching out for copyright infringement, internet bullying and more, with reports and rewards coming direct from the Hypnospace Patrol Department to your inbox. In your spare time, you can customize your HypnOS desktop however you see fit, with a variety of downloads, wallpapers, screen savers and helper bots to keep you company.

very entertaining
As a user of the 2000s internet, it feels really close to me. I didn't like the game as much as I liked Desktop Explorer, but it was quite a journey. It has all the drama in communication between the users in reality that you believe (Zane's page is my favorite), and the stuff that is going on 'behind the scenes': conspiracy, Merchantsoft knowing it's not good for users, bad coding, hacker groups, and everything else. The game feels a bit overwhelming at times with everything is going on in Hypnospace and all the pages you can visit, but it is still worth it playing.

Literally one of my favorite games of all time. The music is incredible, the vibe is absolutely on point, the story you will discover is perfect. I don't think I am the same person I was before Hypnospace. Gumshoe Gooper lives on my bookshelf and I stand with him.

Goated love this game
This game is a truly unique experience and does a wonderful job of giving the player the right amount of agency and freedom. The amount of work and love put into sculpting this alternate late 90's internet landscape is mindblowing. The whole feel, attitude, and denizens of Hypnospace are a scarily accurate (if a bit over the top for emphasis) reproduction of what you would find on places like Geocities in the 1990's. Might not hit as hard or be as funny to people who have never experienced that era of internet, but a solid experience all around.
good game
Genuinely crushed that Jay Tholen called it quits on Dreamsettler, the sequel that could have found a wider audience for this idea in a newer generation. This game is a surprisingly rich and immersive mixed media experience that, without the support of streaming, has become a bit of a hard sell irl because people under a certain age don't really connect with that 90s Geocities vibe the game presents itself in, and people over said age usually skip on experimental indie games like this (or have even abandoned gaming as a whole). Whether this is an echo of your first steps of the internet of yore, or you're not familiar with what it feels to explore the intertwining streams of consciousness of a bunch of randos from all over the place in a corner of your room late at night, give this game a chance. If you end up like me, years will go by and you'll still be reminiscing about this wonderful little world every now and then.

genuinely incredible game. so many beautiful stories and little things to discover, very good themes regarding things like greed, censorship, the consequences of individual actions and many more. the old web vibes are charming yet stylized and softened in a way that makes hypnospace feel like its own space on the web rather than a generalized depiction of everything or something new. i really like the aesthetic, the music, the art and the characters, and it really does feel like browsing a bunch of old sites in its own way while also maintaining a very good main story. i can't recommend this game enough, well worth the money!!!!!!
