Halo: The Master Chief Collection is basically me saying, “I’ll just play one mission,” and then suddenly finding myself emotionally invested in an entire intergalactic war. The gameplay is amazing, the story had me hooked, and somehow a giant man in green armor with the personality of a very determined fridge became one of my favourite characters. Master Chief is an absolute legend. He’s insanely strong, ridiculously cool, and somehow survives situations that should have killed him about twelve times over. At this point I’m convinced half of his superpower is just being unbelievably lucky. He’ll get thrown into some completely impossible situation and somehow walk out like, “Yeah, that could’ve gone worse.” And then there’s Cortana, who I loved from the beginning. Their dynamic is genuinely one of my favourite parts of the story, and I was NOT emotionally prepared for how attached I would become to these characters. Came for the aliens and shooting, stayed because I apparently got emotionally adopted by a seven-foot supersoldier and his AI best friend. 10/10, would trust Master Chief’s luck to save the universe again.
