Half-Life

It's Half-Life, what more can I say? When this game first came out, I didn't have any way at all to play it. I didn't get my first real desktop that I could play it on until 2005. I remember it back then as being one of the most amazing FPS games I had played. I was part of the Doom generation in the early 90's, so FPS games were not new to me, but Half-Life had atmosphere. It had grit and feeling and didn't just feel like shooting things for shooting sake. I just finished it with an HD texture pack that made the game absolutely sparkle and shine. Since I finally have a mid-level gaming laptop now, I can pump up all the settings to high and it looks crisp and sharp and still played like a dream with my PS3 controller. Yes, I am using an old PS3 controller since I am also emulating PS2 games. It works just as well with this game as it does the PS2 games. Although, I will say I had an X-Box One controller at the start of the game that did feel more tight and responsive but only by a little. It wasn't enough to make me switch back and forth for every play session. I took the game slow and steady since I don't like just barreling through a game and it took me 14 hours to get through the entire story. It brought back a lot of memories and also made me realize that a game that is almost 30 years old now still beats many of the new shooters I've played recently.
