Campaign was okay but really short. Game itself is kind-of one dimensional to play... the only real strategy is build every unit ever and rush the enemy. NPCs unbalanced, normal difficulty Beta smashes Hard difficulty Goo, and is rushing your base within a minute, before the first extractor is even complete (which is needed to build a basic factory). Don't even bother playing as the 'Silent Ones' ore whatever they're called... only unit worth a damn for them is the epic but you typically die before then anyway. Doesn't matter how fast you are at building things. Cutscenes are awesome during the campaign.
There was never much of an online presence so multiplayer is out of the question unless you've got friends willing to buy in, but the campaigns are fun, worth picking up on discount

////////// STEAM DECK REVIEW ////////// Working nicely at 5W when lowering details. I had quite a hard time figuring out the best hotkeys config for a handheld but once done, a very solid game. The base three factions are really fun to play and I found the lore very interesting. Finally humans are technically advanced and aliens almost barbaric in comparison ! A fresh take on a century old formula. Betas are awesome by the way, walls are back commander. Worst grip: no offline skirmish. Internet connection is mandatory, which is harsh for solo steam deck players.
Everyone is complaining that there is no new game with new ideas. Especially because this is not a new game, it had ton of new ideas. It is such an underrated game. One needs to try each faction and understand how they are built. Also, for the players complaining about the commands in the game, i suggest you to just look in the settings. I like the C&C series and of course the Blizzard ones but this is something totally different. It is a great game which I would play again and again!
Awesome and quite unique take on RTS. Decent graphics for its time, runs smooth.
Incredibly shallow and uninspired, nothing like the RTSs that preceded it. Nice to have something new I guess, but as a long time Command and Conquer player this was incredibly boring and hard to get into. There are older and better games to play than this.
宛如智障版的操作,一个单机游戏给自己加入了vac保护,关键它还八国语言无中文,那你为啥不直接锁区啊。真的是。
It's an awesome RTS, try it out.
One of the worst construction systems ever implemented in any RTS game. Not sure what they were thinking because fun was not a part of that decision.
Grey Goo is an episodic RTS base-builder with 4* factions. The gameplay changes depending on which faction you are playing, with the campaign serving as an in-depth look at the capabilities and special 'epic' units of the first three factions. The gameplay is fun and interesting, and the story is a classic tale of military intrigue and conflict born from misunderstanding. The cutscenes are highly polished, and the voice acting is superb, with different factions featuring different arrays of accents.
