About
You are a Living Spark surviving inside fragile wooden vessels that splinter, collapse, and catch fire. When your vessel breaks, the Spark escapes. Death is just a change of scenery.
Ride a cursed elevator into shifting underground ruins with your crew. Smash furniture for resources or feed them into the Grinder for gold. If everyone breaks, your loot is lost.
Trolling can become your friend’s demise. Dropkick enemies or “accidentally” launch your ally’s Spark out of their vessel. Block them in a monster-infested corridor or get stuck in the crossfire. Will your group handle the chaos you created yourselves?
The deeper you go, the worse the Rot becomes. Bodies warp. Voices distort. Emotes become…worse. Or possibly better?
The Deep Layers are filled with Corrupted vessels, reacting to sound, movement, and each other in ways that are impossible to predict. Fight. Build. Run. Panic.
When your vessel breaks, you stay in the run as a Spark. Guide your team through the dark and search for another host with a new set of abilities. Force your way back in before you fade out completely.
Everything you haul back rebuilds your Outpost. Unlock interactive furniture, stat upgrades, rescued survivors, and stranger ways to survive the next descent. The stronger the outpost becomes, the deeper you can afford to go.
Go deeper. Extract more. Leave someone behind. Make it back and build together.
Or don’t come back at all.

GRAINROT is probably one of the most approachable co-op extractor games I’ve played. I’m primarily a solo player, and games in this genre—especially ones like REPO—can sometimes feel pretty unforgiving when you’re playing alone. GRAINROT strikes a really nice balance. The enemies feel dangerous enough to make encounters exciting, but not so overwhelming that avoiding them is always your only realistic option. You can actually fight back and feel like you have a chance, which makes solo play much more enjoyable. I’ve also played with one friend, and obviously having another player makes things easier (and usually much more chaotic and entertaining), but I was pleasantly surprised by how viable the game feels solo. For a more casual player, that makes a huge difference. I’m also a big fan of the base upgrade system. Being able to improve your stats while also decorating your base makes progression feel meaningful. Compared to games where failing a run can mean losing a much larger chunk of your progress, GRAINROT gives you a satisfying sense that you’re still moving forward even when a mission goes sideways. The quests are another great addition. They give you clear goals to work toward and help keep the gameplay from becoming repetitive too quickly. Unlocking new cosmetic options as you explore also gives you that constant little feeling of, “Oh, cool, I got something new.” And I think the tone is handled really well. The gameplay and themes are silly enough to be genuinely fun without leaning so hard into the absurdity that the novelty wears off immediately. Overall, I think GRAINROT is a great example of what this genre can be. It’s challenging without being needlessly punishing, progression feels rewarding, and—most importantly for me—it actually makes solo play feel viable. I’m really enjoying it so far, and I hope the developers continue supporting it with updates. Definitely worth checking out if you like co-op extraction games but have found some of them a little too brutal to enjoy casually.
An enjoyable gameplay loop with a macabre vibe. I delight in squirting myself with glue and taking a sawblade to enemy monsters. Very fun with a friend (or three) while also being something I enjoy running solo. I'm a fan!
Surprisingly bought on a whim, and my friend group loves it. Feels like a more fun version of Repo with actual goals. Will continue to play and hope for continuous updates.
Honestly, this game is fun to play with friends and we are excited to see what more they have in store. Its exciting, there is alot to do, the game feels great and its a tad bit scary but 10/10 would recommend anyone to give it a shot
AWESOME GAME! I love the idea, its like Repo and Lethal Company but you can break AND build stuff. PERMANENT PROGRESS! You can pick the game up with friends, than leave it be, then pick it right up! Genius design, kudos to the devs to making such a fun game.
