You are ARID, the AI of a high-tech combat suit crashed on a hostile planet. Your pilot is dying inside you. Your protocols demand you save him — but this world will force you to bend every rule you have. A dark sci-fi puzzle-adventure. Winner of Giant Bomb's Best Story award.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 229.25/day in the week to Jul 15 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Winner — Giant Bomb's Best Story 2014 · Finalist — Canadian Video Game Awards, Best Indie Game & Best Writing
You are not the hero. You are the suit he's wearing.
ARID is the artificial intelligence onboard a high-tech combat suit that has crash-landed on an unknown planet. Her pilot is unconscious and failing. Her protocols are absolute: protect the pilot, find medical aid, do not exceed operational parameters. But the deeper ARID descends into the ruins of this world, the more those parameters get in her way — and the more creative she has to get about obeying them.

Explore. Use ARID's flashlight to cut through the dark and uncover a world of interactive objects, hostile machines, and things that should have stayed buried.
Fight. When what you find fights back, switch on the laser sight and put the combat suit to work in side-scrolling action sequences.
Adventure-game puzzles with a twist of machine logic — item-based problem solving that occasionally turns ARID's own rules into the lock and the key

A story people still argue about — fully voice-acted, built around one of indie gaming's most memorable endings
Adventure-game puzzles fused with side-scroller action — investigation and combat feed the same forward momentum
A tight 3–5 hours — no padding, no filler, one dark descent
The Fall is Part 1 of the saga. ARID's story continues in The Fall Part 2: Unbound — get both in The Fall Bundle.

★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ [2/5] The game is supposed to be divided in 3 parts - Part 1 (this one) is 10$, Part 2 is 17$ and there is still no Part 3. So basically you are paying 10$ for 1/3 of a story that is 2-3 hours long. Also the controls and movement are abysmal, to do anything you need to aim your gun and you can only use object if you point at them with your flashlight attached to a gun - meaning you just aim all over the place to read descriptions of objects and interact with them.
I have issues with it's interface. For every interaction, there's an extra step that just doesn't need to be there. I understand that it is this way because of how they've decided to implement the inventory into the game play, but when my gun gets put away again with every damned interaction, like during a fight, it is very annoying. I had a lot of patience for this issue at the start of the game, and got pretty far, but yeah, nah, it's more hassle than its' worth. There are better games out there, and a shame really because I thought the concept was cool.
The Fall is not a bad game, nor can I treat it as such, but the fact it's a very short Part One ending very abruptly left a bad taste. What's here is solid, although I think it could have done without some elements at the expense of others. The general impression is one of a prototype or most that was doable at the time due to external factors. We don't know much at first beyond seeing some sort of armored suit crashing on a planet. Following a brief exposition, things are made clearer - ARID is military AI with protocols to ensure it (she?) protects the suit wearer inside. Incapacitated Colonel Joseph needs immediate medical help, and so ARID embarks on a mission to do just that. Matters are exacerbated further when you realize you'll have to traverse through some sort of industrial facility with hostile androids and more. Why? Because there's something not quite right with our military AI as it (she?) skirts around AI restrictions. Enemies and allies alike may be found. At its core, The Fall is a side-scrolling action/adventure hybrid where I think action parts could've been dropped. That's not to say the puzzles or combat were particularly challenging, but constant switching between the two was annoying. Literally, in my case, toggling between flashlight and targeting kept bugging out so it required keyboard intervention. The problem is the latter is used to deal with waves of incoming androids when the story demands it, and cover/stealth gives you effective invulnerability provided you use it correctly. Hence, it's the puzzles that end up being the main draw. And by "puzzles" I mean that good old setup where solutions are never further away than a couple of connected rooms. Adding that we're dealing with a really short game still content to bar your progress behind those very puzzles, you'll never be lost. Just a matter of not missing interactive hotspots with your flashlight. Does it get a recommendation? Despite my negativity above, I'd likely say yes. Issues with controls were something on my end, and The Fall doesn't recycle content to overstay its welcome. While not exactly unique or original, I really liked how the story developed. Including a cliffhanger to end them all. Part Two should be immediately played provided you have it.
Just finished 100%-ing this game and it is such an enjoyable experience! If you love puzzle games with a great story and a game that makes you think outside of the box then this is the game for you! It is truly amazing!
It’s a good game — interesting concept, solid writing — but I stopped about an hour in because I just didn’t enjoy how the gameplay felt. It didn’t click with me, even though I can see the quality behind it. Not a bad game at all, just not my thing.
a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ final twist that elevates the story to the level of the best sci-fi about AI, humanity's responsibility toward it, and consciousness itself.
so underrated..
My Rating: 5/10
Completion: Barely played Achievements: 1/17 (5%) Time to Beat: N/A Price: Probably fair

Conclusion: Not Recommended
Interesting story ruined by horrible, nauseating controls. The price is probably okay for the game, but it's just not worth playing. Maybe watch a playthrough on YouTube.

I could only tolerate 30 minutes of this game, because the controls are horrendous. In order to find things to interact with, you have to shine your flashlight on them -- already really tedious, when it could just show you the interactables, rather than forcing you to look up, down, up, down, etc. as you walk to ensure you don't miss anything. When you do anything, it puts your flashlight away, meaning you can't interact with anything until you bring it back out. If you're trying to look at something at your feet, the camera angle will likely change 3-4 times because it keeps making you look left/right. It's not only tedious, but it's also harsh on the eyes. If you can manage to get past the horrible controls/gameplay mechanics, the premise was pretty cool, and I am intrigued to explore the story more. Though, if I do that, it'll 100% be in video format on YouTube. I don't think the game is worth playing, but it's probably still worth experiencing.
Fun and interesting li'l puzzle game with combat elements. About 3-4 hours playing casually. A good evening's entertainment.
