This is my favourite game of this year so far, loved the visuals and classical gameplay, but one critique is the lack of HDR (High Dynamic Range), there is no pop in the visuals and the lighting and colour looks flat and dull, specially on my QD OLED screens.

I put 500+ hours into the old Playstation version and I'm so stoked that this exists, it's fun as hell. If you're on the fence about getting it, get off the fence and get in here.
Very solid Dragon Quest entry. Definitely too long, even using a lot of the "reduce grind" options.
I did not play the original so I can't reference it, but I found the game incredibly charming. It can be drawn out at times and will require patience, and the story can be a bit drawn out or slow at times, but I found that playing it over many sessions really works with the episodic nature of most of the story. Overall, worth my time and put a smile on my face. I will say that most people experienced with JRPGs will find it on the easier side by default, so you might want to crank the difficulty up.
With the new difficulty options it can be tailor made for smooth sailing or rougher waters as you like on the fly. But the fancy new graphics take the cake, having played every version of DQVII this is the easiest on the eyes by far and the game plays well even on weaker hardware. Highly recommend for any DQ fan or folks interested in trying out DQVII.

I have been playing this exlusively on my LCD Steamdeck. I have to say it is one of the smoothest games I have played in a long time. The story has that good Dragon Quest vibe to it (still in act 1.. i think), but it has kept me interested. Get this game and have a blast~
