Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is all unfulfilled potential. I played the original dragon warrior 3 on the nes for hundreds of hours back when it first came out. If you get this because you want to experience something similar to that game you will be disappointed. Everything is changed so drastically the only way to approach this is as a different game entirely with the same story. There are tons of little things that throw the feel of the game or the polish of the game off. The western localization issues are the most well known but honestly these are the least of the problems. There are dozens of bad dialog lines in the game where you can tell they were going for a regional accent but all they really did was make the npc's talk in broken english with bad grammar and poor english word choices. Simple quality of life things are missing like being able to see what debuffs or buffs your characters have during combat (only visable during the choose action phase of combat), the inventory is badly managed and you can't see what classes can equip which items when looking at them in the inventory. The game is full of little annoyances like this that add up. One of the biggest failures is lack of a new game+. They include a post game that includes some high powered equipment that you essentially have almost no use for because the game is over. The only new game+ aspect is being able to bring over one character from your completed saves to a new game and that character is equipment locked. So it teases you with a bunch of great items that you barely get a chance to use and doesn't include the most basic new game+ concept of letting you play again with your past games items or a higher difficulty. Speaking of difficulty, this game is no where near the level of difficulty of the original, something fans of the original will find very disappointing. There are three settings with the first making the game stupidly easy to the point you actually can't die, the second being normal which is way easier than the original, and the supposed hard setting only really cutting down on your xp and gold gains after battle (if the fights are harder it was so minor i didn't even notice) which is not a difficulty setting so much as a tedious setting. And finally its $60 dollars. If the game was done right, with the polish and care it deserved, I could be convinced it was worth that. For what we actually got this is at best a 30 dollar game that should be picked up for half that to not feel like you were taken advantage of. Basically this game did not get the love it deserved as what is likely the most popular and beloved of all the classic dragon quest games. They did a quick and sloppy job of it and it will disappoint fans of the original as well as new fans who want a challenge and also want good replayability since it lacks new game+. Even the job system has no replayability since you can class change as many times as you want and literally make a party with every skill and spell in your first run. Its unfortunate you can't tell any of this before your two hour return window is up but hopefully this review helps other people with certain expectations for this game avoid wasting money on it.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Great game! Shame SquareEnix decided to launch it with excessive DRM because they think you're a criminal for buying their game.
The game looks amazing! Developer's did a great job utilizing the engine for the 2D-3D look. However, the difficulty balance is absolutely horrible. To adjust for added abilities, the developer's decided to lazily just let enemies attack twice (2:1 ratio). Depending on their attacks, you could win with little damage or pretty much wipe. This could be in the open world or in a dungeon. It is infuriating. They really could have figured out a more methodical way to adjust the difficulty balance. In the current state, its pure laziness on the developer's part.
