DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS™ 2

This game is really good. I bought it because I wanted to try Pokopia, but am unwilling to spend $600 on a single game. This game scratches the itch that game was giving me. The building is fun, the environment is cozy and engaging, and I honestly do get the drive to help the villagers. My main complaint is that the combat is very shallow and boring. It should have been turn based! This is Dragon Quest! The writing can be a little long winded but that is par for the course for any JRPG. The writing is relatively funny at least. The game runs perfectly on Linux with Proton, no issues. 8/10.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 - 100% Completion Review Score: 8/10 Dragon Quest Builders is a Crafting/City Building Voxel game set in the world of Dragon Quest, after fully completing this game, i'll give some pro's, neutrals and cons, i also added a fix for Nvidia cards performance issues at the bottom of the review PRO'S: -Has character customization, male/female, hair color, eye color, skin color, outfits, weapons, armor and can change it later in the game with a dressing table found hidden in the Isle of Awakening -Good music, Dragon Quest always delivers with it's soundtracks, Harp decoration that can play different scores of music -Many improvements from the original such as sprinting, swimming and diving, fishing, plant growth anywhere, Isle of Awakening with whole map to build on, improved auto farming, more buildings and crafting etc. -Good gameplay with tons of crafting for buildings and decorations -Improved terraforming with a craftable items and tools like scaffolding and endless water pot make changing buildings, floors and walls much easier -When connected to network can see screenshots of others buildings, worlds and designs -New partner/follower character that will follow you around the maps and help you with combat or resource collecting -Collectable Mini Medals that give rewards for collecting set amounts, acquired by fulfilling goals or map challenges -Has a Glider you get in the game that makes traversing much easier -Good monster designs, Toriyama's designs so that's a given -Good character designs that are well made and unique -Story is much improved over the original, bit text heavy though, hope you like reading -Has adventure islands you can go to that give you unlimited items once you complete a research checklist NEUTRAL'S: "No Score Change From These" -Color and lighting is a bit washed out, ReShade with DPX and Vibrances effects toggled on help a lot and is recommended -Isle of Awakening has a 100 building limit, likely due to performance and memory limits -Decent performance, no crashes but the game will lag in certain parts, especially if sprinting -Can't change hair style until you get the dressing table CON'S: -Auto Save is sporadic and wipes out on transfer from island to island -Cinematic dialogue is very slow and no way to speed up or skip -Isle of Awakening has way too many hills and unbreakable rocks that can't be broken until you get the upgraded hammer, not enough flat space -Npcs struggle with pathing and will constantly go onto roofs or get stuck in rivers -Map challenges are way too easy Overall Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a good crafting game with solid game play and if you like crafting games or Dragon Quest games you will probably like this game just fine, it's a much improved game from the original but needs a quick control panel fix for Nvidia cards, regardless of that though still a pretty good game, but as always, It's.. Up.. To.. You and i'll leave it at that. (^_−). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nvidia Cards Performance Issues Fix: Problem: Games Vsync doesn't work with the Nvidia cards at least not the newer cards causing the game to be quite choppy and low frame rate Solution: In the Nvidia Control Panel go to Adjust image settings and set it to Use the Advanced 3D Image Settings, then create a profile for Dragon Quest Builders 2 in the Manage 3d Settings tab and in that profile set Vsync to on to force it to replace the games Vsync "Turning it off doesn't work", then set Max Frame Rate to 60fps, then set Monitor Technology to Fixed Refresh "Don't use Gsync or Freesync", finally set Preferred refresh rate to Highest available. If done right your performance should be back to normal and you shouldn't have the lag anymore.
