For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away.

I played this on the Steam Deck and it ran beautifully - there's a great community controller scheme for the game too. It's a rather simple, yet charming ARPG with light CRPG elements. I had a lot of fun, and while I do think some of the dungeons can overstay their welcome or feel somewhat repetitive - the combat can feel that way in general depending on your class - I never felt myself getting bored or disinterested. I did a majority of the quests and was around level 46 when I finished the game on Normal difficulty. The game has a fairly standard western Medieval Fantasy storyline, but is enchanted with Larian's sense of humor. I would definitely recommend this game for any classic ARPG fans or anyone looking to delve into the Divinity franchise like myself.
Core Identity
Not a Diablo clone – It shares a camera angle and real-time combat, but that's where the similarity ends. It's a point-and-click adventure with RPG combat, closer in spirit to Ultima VII than to Diablo. A hybrid that doesn't fit any label : It blends exploration, environmental puzzles, interactive objects, and tactical combat. The formula doesn't exist anywhere else.
Gameplay & Design
Pause is essential – The pause button turns chaotic combat into a tactical, think-on-your-feet experience. It's not a crutch—it's a core mechanic. Rewards curiosity – Items don't glow. Letters don't highlight. You have to look at the world. Pressing ALT helps with loot, but quest items are environmental objects you must click manually. Old-school depth – No hand-holding. No glowing trails. No quest markers. You read, you listen, you figure things out. Massive world – 4–5 maps, over 20,000 screens, hand-crafted and dense with interactivity. Isometric freedom – You can drag every window (mindblowing even today's standard don't it), move furniture, combine items in unexpected ways.
Systems & Mechanics
Skills are permanent – No respec. Every point matters. But you get enough to specialize and still grab utility skills like Lockpick, Identify, and Alchemy. Reputation is local and minor – Losing reputation with a merchant or NPC doesn't break the game. It's a role-playing flavor, not a hard gate. Trap detection works via cursor change – The red glow can bug out, but the cursor change is the real signal. Keys are used automatically – The game doesn't tell you which key was consumed. Guilds are optiona – You can join all three (Warrior, Thieves, Merchants) without conflict. They offer side quests and flavor, not mandatory power.
Philosophy
Journey over destination – The game is about the walk, not the finish line. It rewards patience, observation, and thought. Friction gives meaning – The combat feels weird at first until you use the pause. Then it clicks. It's not about fast reflexes anymore; it's about positioning, timing, and thinking. The friction isn't a flaw it's what makes it satisfying. In a strange way, the game gives you a door to mindfulness. You stop rushing, start paying attention, and the world opens up. A game that respects you –
It doesn't hold your hand
. It assumes you're smart enough to figure things out.
❌ What It's Not
Not a Hack & Slash – That label belongs to Diablo. Divine Divinity is slower, smarter, and more about exploration than combat. Not for everyone – If you need arrows, fast combat, and instant gratification, this will frustrate you. If you love old-school CRPGs and point-and-click adventures, it's a treasure.
Final Verdict Unique – There's nothing else quite like it. Timeless – Despite its age, its design philosophy holds up. Deep – The more you give it, the more it gives back. See for yourself, this game came out in 2002, and it still runs beautifully at 2560x1440 fullscreen. https://youtu.be/yCr21Zh1_1s
So THIS is what people were playing back when I was born.
Enjoying myself a lot! It has some bugs, and it crashed on me a few times, but it feels like a Larian game, made with love, and has some nostalgic bits for people who has played Divinity: Original Sin 2 first. The mechanics are not the most intuitive, but once you learn the ins and outs, both combat and exploration becomes very addictive. Also, it is frankly one of the best-looking early CRPGs I have played. The UI design alone is gorgeous!

another disaster from larian.. this is one of THE most unintuitive games I've ever played.. they dont tell you about the alt key being used to hilite items (it's not in the bind key menu options, but it is in the 'hints' on the loading screen which you see a LOT of.. instead of the actual game...)..or how to split a stack.. or really anything! and the game saves/loads so slow its like watching paint dry.. and their click and drag is the most useless mechanism.. considering they dont make the stupid avatar stand still while you try do it (because you have to be in EXACTLY the right location to pick the thing up!!)! why not have a 'pick up all' key!?! idiots! then 'exploring' you come across these 'tiered' land blocks where you cant 'climb' a 4 foot wall.. yes it was the 'thing' back in the day.. but the concept is utter stupidity! to make it worse they even hide the 'stairs' (dirt/grass transition) at times..and its sooo laggy! for an old game on a new PC.. shouldnt have any difficulty..but the avatar stutters all the time..especially noticable when 'exploring' to try and get up these 'tiered plateaus'.. but the main issue for me is that I like to play mages.. and they compltely suck in this game.. there is no mana regen, mana usage for each spell is too much for the damage caused! and the bottles only fill a tiny portion of your mana bar.. and mana potions cost TOO MUCH! and to add insult to injury you cant rest whenever you want to! its like they have a vendetta against mages.. you certainly dont want to play one in these moronic devs games.. and of course because you dont have enough strength to wear the good armour.. you constantly quaffing BOTH health and mana or the restore potions..no idea how these people get 70+ str/agi and high int (apparently RNG plays a HUGE role in getting good items.. I got absolute trash items! rarely any +attribute and generally 1 charm slot..not that that matters since I've only had 2 gold charms drop the whole game).. and at level 35! this is especially relevant considering that you need it, when you get to the 'cant cast magic' area and fight the death knight and must use weapons! the above are just a small sample of the far too many issues in this game.. and it is so very similar to sacred (which also has its issues!).. even seems to have the same voice over. (for the female anyway). however, the worst part of the game is that you have to KNOW the game before you really play it.. because you get locked into a sequence and cant leave even when you're not even ready to experience it! requiring reloading a past game many hours before entering the castle.. these devs dont want you to enjoy the story (which isnt enjoyable anyway, story arc isnt bad.. just 'realised' very poorly with really bad plot drivers).. even though it's supposed to be an 'RPG'.. they mandate you roleplay a bad guy all the while supposedly being good! you MUST do bad things to complete the story.. they dont give you multiple ways to solve issues.. so it is NOT an RPG.. it's just a linear game that has you doing tasks and combat.. it's just a horrible horrible game.. complete waste of your time. not enjoyable at all
