Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 25 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Adventure-horror game where you explore the area and search for your missing brother while avoiding dangers ✅The game's sound design is fairly good and fits the game's dark atmosphere ✅The graphics are decent ✅Exploration elements (searching buildings, collecting items) ❌The game is boring because you do the same thing over and over (walking, searching, avoiding enemies) with no variety whatsoever ❌Few puzzles (There is only 1 puzzle) ❌The map is too large and not filled with content ❌No game settings ❌The price is too high for the game ❌❌ Verdict: [strike] Terrible [/strike] , Bad , [strike] Mediocre [/strike] , [strike] Decent [/strike] , [strike] Good [/strike] , [strike] Very Good [/strike] (Rating scale for tested game)
If you'd like to see more of my reviews, you can find them on my curator page:CuratorKingViking and on my group: GroupKingViking If you have any questions about my reviews, feel free to ask.
You wander around in search for key or item to unlock next section. It's not obvious where to proceed so you might end up running aimlessly losing an hour or so and probably quit - very confusing game. There's no much story here only a few notes maybe. Don't expect anything crazy like chasing monsters and such. Map is also empty to say at least. Overall not recommended feels more like a torment than actual fun.
A very weak horror movie with a strained difficult storyline. Although the picture is good and retains an atmosphere of mystery, but I can not call the totality of what is in the game a masterpiece

Warning: Asset Flip!
Darkness Ahead is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. SA Industry are known asset flippers (evidence below) and this is no exception... it's a basic Unreal Engine "adventure" game where the "developer" dropped a few house assets and things around a basic map and has you walk around and click on stuff using the old Unreal first person adventure engine stuff. Looking for your missing sibling, apparently, but does the intricacy of plot matter when confronted with such low effort asset flipping? Not much more than a weekends effort to dump a minimum viable product onto Steam and wait for the cash to roll in. This kind of low effort asset flipping is a great disservice to gamers. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. SA Industry/Useless Machines have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Falling Words" = 2D Typing Game developed by Steelkrill Studio
"Kingdom Defense" = Tower Defense Basic Pixel Art Pack developed by FreeThePlayerOnGame
"Drive For Your Life" = Zombie Drive - Full Game Template developed by Puppeteer
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the display resolution caps out at around 1440p, there's no support for the state-of-the-art 4K or higher resolutions. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality game this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. So, should you buy this asset flip? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Darkness Ahead has the farcical price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Left 4 Dead 2", "Batman: Arkham Origins" or "Just Cause 3". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

Darkness Ahead — это инди-хоррор от первого лица, где вы играете за человека, заблудившегося в лесу, полном сверхъестественных угроз. Основной геймплей строится на исследовании, решении головоломок и избегании встреч с врагами. Атмосфера напоминает классические Silent Hill или Slender: The Eight Pages.
P. S. If you have difficulties in the walktrough, this guide will be very useful: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3561496240
BORING BEHIND
“Darkness Ahead”, even after updating to version 2.0, is still a clear example of how a horror game can completely miss the mark. Despite improved sound and visuals (compared to the eye-wincing first versions), Useless Machines' project never manages to go beyond a boring and totally unfunny wandering-and-searching game. Fear? Totally missing. Gameplay is basically just finding items and completing simple quest tasks: find the key, chop the boards with an axe, activate the book, look for white symbols. All of this is made worse by the painfully slow movement of the main character, turning what should be a 30-minute playthrough (if you know exactly where to go) into a grueling hour-and-a-half ordeal if you get even slightly lost in the cluttered and, most importantly, EMPTY areas. The game frustrates with dumb restrictions and a complete lack of smooth transitions from task to task. The story is insanely clichéd: the younger brother goes missing after heading into the forest with his friends. Suddenly, magical motifs and mentions of some 'founders' pop up in the narrative, which make no sense with the main character's original motivation. The plot is shown through scattered text on the screen and those notes, since the main character doesn't have full voice acting. The whole thing feels completely pointless. The monsters you have to run from look ridiculous: goblin-like creatures that caw like crows when they spot you just, yeah, leave you confused. There’s no trace of any visual ugliness or fear in the game’s design at all. The puzzles also suffer from a lack of logic, made worse by the slow pace and cluttered locations. Lighting candles in the right order, finding five notes or white symbols — all of this is done without any clear hints or map markers. The author didn’t bother to explain some controls and tasks even in the in-game journal. The flashlight, a key element in most horror games, is useless here: the game is so bright that you don’t need it, and there’s no need to collect batteries for it either. Honestly, "Darkness Ahead" serves no purpose other than Steam collectible cards. It’s not a horror game, not really a quest, just a boring waste of time.
