This game fired on all cylinders. Gameplay, puzzles, story, dungeons, sidequests it does them all! And most of them extremly well! The story takes a while to really get going but once it does it will sink its claws deep and not let go. Lea is definatly top 3 game protagists of all time and the combat and puzzles both provide quite the challenge in different ways, plus its even got customizible assessbility options for both if the challegne proves more frustating than fun. The game is also very reaspobly priced for the amount in it. Loved this game, huge recomend.
I usually don’t review many games but I didn’t expect this game to be one of my favorite games. I really loved the combat, but I loved the story and characters even more. The story was phenomenal and emotional, more than I expected. The characters were all so well written and even though the character that you play doesn’t speak much, she slowly became one of my favorite characters in any video game I’ve played, and I have played quite a few games in my 30 years of life, so I don’t say that lightly. You slowly build a connection to her and can empathize with how she feels, and I love that about this game and the writing. My only caveat was the puzzles. Not much of a puzzle person and I needed a walkthrough for most of the dungeons. But honestly just a small trade off for the amazing combat and story telling. 10/10 recommend.

great retro rpg. good story lots of fun if your a retro gamer or like to have fun.
CrossCode has the greatest worldbuilding I've ever seen in an indie game. It has the second or third greatest story I've ever seen in one either. If you play it, you'll agree. It's not flawless, but something doesn't have to be flawless to be a masterpiece. Which this game is. If the game's incredible charm and art design didn't hook you from minute one, the story will get its claws into you soon after. It's been a decade since I had a game's story send me for so many loops, and that was Undertale... You get it. The game loves its puzzles. If you like free-form puzzles like an old-school Zelda, this game has hours of extremely well-designed and executed puzzles that feel satisfying to solve. The combat is nothing special, honestly, the RPG elements are a bit bare, and some of the platforming leaves a lot to be desired. But as someone who has always found the greatest satisfaction in combat, this game's characters, charm, and story were enough to pull me through any of the friction in the moment-to-moment gameplay. If you play it, you'll know exactly what I mean.

10/10. Absolutely worth your time. It might feel like a slower start than others of the genre, however I am here to encourage you that this game is one of a kind and with fairly early progression points that unlock more of the core gameplay. So satisfying and refreshing.
Great game
