A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

So. Much. Padding The combat and the puzzles are fun for a while but then it is the same thing with a minor twist over and over and over again. It is such a drag. The temple puzzles can be challenging and fun, but some of the quests and combat sections are just plain annoying. The overworld "run around, find a ledge, hop across, fight three enemies, hop more, fight the exact same enemies but six now, keep hopping, open a mediocre chest" traversal routine SNORE The fundamentals are great, everything runs really smoothly, story is interesting, dialogues are kinda cute and maybe if I played during a different phase of life I would enjoy it more. Unfortunately, I can finish five indie games in the same time it will take me to finish this one. Doesn't feel worth it. I hope Alabaster Dawn doesnt have the same problems..
Gave it so many chances over the years. I just don't enjoy the puzzles. I found it's more effective to just spam shots at random angles than it is to line them up methodically. Which doesn't work well either way under a time crunch, even with the difficulty sliders turned down.

As someone that hates RPGs and looong texts I LOVED THE BATTLE MECHANICS and THE BOSSES but like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THE PUZZLES ARE SOOO LOOOONG THEY ARE SO LONG BRO. I wish hard puzzles were here and there, but not 20 in a row my man. They were such a chore, I only persevered because of knowing there would be more action to enjoy later.
I originally played in 2018, and since the DLC released I wanted to give the game another shot with a replay. Finishing the game again took around 60 hours, with the DLC installed. It was just as charming and fun as back in 2018, and the DLC addressed my issues with the end of the game mostly. It felt somewhat unfinished back then, but that's fixed. I'd say it's actually pretty mandatory which can be a downside. Overall a great and unique game with its setting being inside a MMORPG that is taking place in the real world with augmented reality elements. The cast of characters and storyline is great, the game demands a lot of skill from the player in terms of puzzles and the combat encounters are super varied and stay interesting through the entire runtime of the game. Side content can be pretty filler-y and is derived from actual MMO quests, but they usually try to put a fun gimmick or twist on them. Lea is one of the best main characters of any game I played and she has so much personality and ways to express herself despite being mute. Highly recommending this for anyone who likes action combat games with puzzles inside game dungeons.
¨I am the master balls, no balls remain untouched.¨ Yes. I still have to finish it but the 8 hours I have been playing have been the most ENTERTAINING AND FRUSTRATING. The combat system is so good but I just suck at action games like this one. The only tolerable french person is in this game btw.
I've tried several times, the combat doesn't feel good and the levelling system means spending time levelling up is essentially pointless. Just not fun.
One day I will stop judging games by the quality of their music Unfortunately, this will not be the case today Yeah the combat is good, the art beautiful, the characters intriguing and the story suspenseful, the puzzles... well that's a heated topic to discuss, they're fine if a bit tedious after a while But when you get to the DLC dungeon and hear that ♥♥♥♥ swell, I simply cannot stop my hand from clicking thumbs up Steelplus I kneel
Alabaster Dawn
