A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

The "puzzles" in this game are frustrating, unfun, and unintuitive. Many puzzles are solved in stupid dark rooms that hide details so you can't even see what you're doing half the time. The second main dungeon's designed so you get a power up, only to put you into a boss arena with a boss that you are now weak against AND forced to use said new elemental power in. THIS IS VERY STUPID GAME DESIGN. The first main dungeon has ice physics in the dark. That is bad. And then the second dungeon forces ice physics on you again, IN A DESERT! I will never play this game ever again. The gameplay loop is just not fun at all. Healing takes way too long to be worth spending time on it. The controls feel like garbage because there is very little hitstun and invincibility frames so you just get chained by groups of enemies to death without your control. The first boss of the second dungeon I died to multiple times over and the only reason I won said fight was because the enemy RNG lined up my shots better on my winning attempt. I learned nothing during that boss fight and won because of sheer luck. That is terrible feedback to give to a player.

The game is okay, but there's a lot of 'content' that's basically only there to pad the length of the game. For example, having to go a long distance around just to get the hard to access items, where if you slip and fall you have to go all the way back to the beginning. There's also a decent amount of boring fetch quests
Playing this game many years later, and it is phenomenal. A wonderful first entry for this development team, and with their second game on the way, I am extremely excited to see how much they've improved and hone their art.

Good combat, amazing amazing puzzles.
Mi amigo me dijo que era clave y no mentía.
Hi!! Lea... Bye [Absolute Cinema]
in green text
So. Much. Padding The combat and the puzzles are fun for a while but then it is the same thing with a minor twist over and over and over again. It is such a drag. The temple puzzles can be challenging and fun, but some of the quests and combat sections are just plain annoying. The overworld "run around, find a ledge, hop across, fight three enemies, hop more, fight the exact same enemies but six now, keep hopping, open a mediocre chest" traversal routine SNORE The fundamentals are great, everything runs really smoothly, story is interesting, dialogues are kinda cute and maybe if I played during a different phase of life I would enjoy it more. Unfortunately, I can finish five indie games in the same time it will take me to finish this one. Doesn't feel worth it. I hope Alabaster Dawn doesnt have the same problems..
