About

Both colonists and monsters can find their way in your world. Build bridges, tunnels, stairs, overpasses and underpasses to make sure your colonists get where they want to go, and monsters don't! Plant a banner to start your colony. As you recruit more colonists, more monsters will try to invade your colony! Build walls, dig moats and construct forts to deal with the increasing threat.

Use an extensive science system to unlock jobs, blocks, upgrades and new weapons! Your colony will start in the Stone Age with just a handful of primitive jobs. Produce new materials, study clay tablets and scrolls, sell luxury items and advance throughout the timeline. Ultimately, you will be able to unlock gunpowder weapons, gliders, printing presses, rails and much more!

Advancing the tech tree requires resources that are only present in special locations. Purchase the resources in the marketplace for a high price, or find those locations using the astrolabe and build your own outposts on mountaintops, in swamps and other places. Use gliders and rails to move quickly from one location to another.

Easily launch a co-op server from the main menu, and invite friends to join your world. Share ownership of a single colony with multiple friends, or build your own colonies and trade items and science. It's also possible to use our advanced server tool to set up a more complex system. Extensive mod support allows players to customize their experience exactly as they want.

We regularly release fixes, improvements, tweaks and content updates. Here a couple of highlights from many, many changelogs:

Easily one of my favorite games. I've been playing it for years. The development team is not above redoing entire sections of the game to make it better and better. The pair of them work hard and it shows. They care a lot about the game, and it is a labor of love. The game has come a long way since I first started playing it. Some major good improvements, some bad improvements that get revised and fixed. The game in its current state at the end of 2025 is a complete game, but the developers have plans for so much more. The game is fun and challenging, while not being overly complicated. There are some places that need little more attention, but overall it is a pretty good game and I have a couple thousand hours in it. It is often compared to Minecraft, but it has some significant differences. The biggest difference is Minecraft is about you, this is about your Colonists. You build defenses for them. They do most of the crafting, most of the guarding, etc. You don't go into a mine to gather resources, the Colonists do. You don't refine ore into metal, the colonists do that for you. Your task is to design and build. You build castles and houses, or whatever it is your heart desires.

On the one hand, I can see the potential. On the other, I dont like not being able to do anything (but build) myself. Automation should always be optional for a game like this, never a necessity. Its a tough one to recommend, too. Its minecraft, in creative mode, and, imo, way less fun. You NEED to automate everything, cant really make anything yourself, Its less of running a colony and more like being the builder for a colony. idk, maybe it gets better. Its an interesting game. But its also been in EA for abt 9 years, ask yourself if you want yet another EA game stuck in dev hell that may never get finished and decide from there if you want to buy it. Edit: yeah no.. it still feels pretty bad to play, all these years later.
Got the game years before and spend a couple of hours before shoving it back into my steam lib thinking I would never touch it and devs will likely drop this project soon. Came back now. I'm totally hooked. Devs still working on it. Love the concept of building my own medieval village -> town -> city -> empire. Lots of cool building blocks with which I can be creative.
I really wanted to like this game. Colony Survival has a lot of potential and can actually be quite enjoyable at times. The core idea is interesting, and there are moments where the gameplay loop feels satisfying. However, in its current state, it’s simply not worth the price of 27 EUR. It feels unfinished, lacks depth in several areas, and doesn’t offer enough content or polish to justify such a high cost. After a while, it becomes repetitive, and the experience starts to feel shallow. If the price were significantly lower, I could recommend it as a casual or early access experience. But at full price, it’s hard to justify. Overall: promising concept, but overpriced for what it currently offers.
You know, I am a very lenient person and would be a great leader, as long as everyone does what they are supposed to do y'know. But if I catch someone slacking off and EATING supplies of my entire colony, they are gonna see what's lying behind those wooden walls. Other than that the game is really well optimized, I wonder how did you even pull this off that even my old laptop with integrated graphics could run this at smooth 60 FPS. Don't get mistaken, the game looks and is really simple, but there is so much to do that even after nearly 40 hours, I'm still nowhere close to the end. Recommended.
Almost 8 years ago I relentlessly nagged my mum to install steam just so I could play this game soon after it came out. The game has changed and grown a lot since then. For the past few years I have stepped away from video games alot, but every now and again I come back to this gem. It's a perfect game and severely underrated. Much love to all the developers and creators of this game, thank you PipLiz for such a wonderful game!!! If you are reading this review and thinking of buying the game, 100% you should go for it! It never gets old and the amazing developers are always improving it. You definately wont regret the purchase.
controls are terrible and tutorial is basically useless. alot of "buttons" in tutorial are all mixed up, its like the devs cant figure out ig you playing on keyboard or contoller so they just mixed them together nonsense like "Press 'O' to do such and such, then press 'Select' to do the next interaction
updates keep coming, the game has actual direction now which is nice to see. Im glad they're fixing this game up because it has potential
I've been playing on and off ever since I watched SkyCakes' playthrough on YouTube years back. I genuinely can't believe that the game is still being updated after all this time! This game deserves more recognition and I absolutely love it. 11/10
