Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 56.83/day in the week to Jul 17 → 3.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's better than Cultist Simulator, but also suffers from some of the same flaws as Cultist Simulator. If you disliked Cultist Simulator I don't expect you'd like Book of Hours. Overall the game is similar - uncover occult mysteries, via game mechanics that are initially confusing but which you gradually work out. The player's experience with the mechanics of the game mirrors the protagonist's progress through the game. What makes the game better than cultist simulator is the broadening of mechanics. As well as researching mysterious secrets, you're exploring rooms of a mansion, and doing some gathering/crafting. Apparently Book of Hours is more forgiving than Cultist Simulator. It is difficult to find the items you need. The main tool seems to be visually scanning the map for items that highlight when you mouse over a related icon. However you typically want to find things that match two icons, not just one. The answer seems to be a lot of physically rearranging items into different rooms, in order to group things to make searching easier. However the rooms in the house don't hold many items. This is all rather awkward. Overall, expect heavy note-taking, and lots of waiting for shortish timers to finish.

Level up system is really bad. Reminds me of Morrowind and Oblivion. To get the most out of it, you can't just level up what you want and enjoy the game. The game heavily encourages awkward gameplay, ignoring level up opportunities, shooting yourself in the foot for hours to prevent long term losses. I thought we left that behind in 2006 when we realized optimal leveling up should be fun. UI is absolutely terrible. The game is about managing a library, learning crafting recipes and efficiently utilizing dozens and dozens and dozens of those recipes. Book shelves are scarce and tiny, so organizing books is inconvenient. Your inventory is limited to 5 slots so no convenience there. Items just pile up on the ground, unordered, and that's the best the game can offer. Labelling book shelves is inconvenient in many ways. There is no note taking system. Those dozens if not hundreds of recipes and loot tables from books and actions? Yeah just remember them all lmao. Books you read have 2 paragraphs of new text shown, but it isn't saved anywhere. Either write it down out of game, or collect a billion horses and sticks and like cabbages and wait for it to rain on a friday in October then you can read the book again if you dare forget what it said. Oh yeah you need to do obscure weird stuff to just read a book in this game. That's, like, fine, but the way this game is is just extremely inconvenient and tiring.
I have spent a horrifying number of hours in this game so I feel qualified to state that it is an absolutely delightful experience. The lore is so deep, the vibes are immaculate, and while the learning curve is a bit steep, it is 100% worth sticking with. If you found Cultist Simulator a bit intimidating, don't worry, this is far more chill. Additionally, the devs are extremely responsive to accessibility requests -- I emailed them requesting a feature and they rolled it out in the next update.
One of the most engrossing and maximalist stories I've ever played. The anti-canon approach that the writer uses is incredibly clever. Amazing game from top to bottom. Frustrating at times but very, very rewarding. Will definitely come back to it.
Well, i was always a crackhead when it comes to esoteric lovecrafting games, and I have played other gamers from the main writer, and boy, he does deliver. I particulary like Book of Hours a lot more then Cultist Simulator cause it is very rewarding when you being to understand the lore without being so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stressful. Anyway, i love it, it is a slow burner style, so if you interested, know that action is not a part of the game.
I don't know, man. Maybe it's because I was the kid who took a volunteer summer job at a tiny library with a jumbled card catalogue and no other filing system and LOVED IT. I had no idea what I was doing then and I have only the tiniest inkling of what I'm doing now, but I find that super engaging. There is no tutorial, which will be off-putting for a lot of people. But just read and eventually things will come together. Everyone saying they were just "randomly dropping cards" into slots, missed the point entirely. If you want something intuitive, this is not for you. Another reviewer said that if you like to stare at spreadsheets, you'll like this game. That was the review that sold me on it and it was very accurate so far.
