terrible - just play something better
The core game play got much better since the release. The performance (at least for me) did as well. I think the balancing of the production chains and AI needs most work. The resources generation is also kind of whacky. On high resource count settings I saw 4 sources of Uranium on the whole map for 6 players. Then I would personally love more events and competitions (not only to build Triumphs). Also you should be able to view recipes/buildings that you can no longer craft/build due to moving between Ages or due to being on the Max allowed building count. Lastly I'd love more building variety for different play styles, right now you are forced to be more or less balanced, there is limited way to pivot only to military / trade / science due to building limits and low amount of buildings for the play style.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I have played most civ-like games over the years and I consider Ara to be one of the worst. It is badly designed, unintuitive and with a half-baked tutorial. It also features some weird national leader choices, eg. Australia is led by a pathologist. Examples of bad/unintuitive game design: * The map is divided into regions, regions are divided into several zones (3-5). Only 1 building can be built in a zone and some buildings boost some building types in a region. This makes regions vastly unbalanced. * Researching Animal Husbandry unlocks cutting down trees
It's a pretty nice 4X game with alot of good ideas. Most of the negative reviews come from before version 2.0 probably, so there is that. The only negative point I've seen so far is that crafting items is non global, but this should be "fixed" in the next bigger patch. So I give it a positive review and the only negative thing I've found in my almost 3 hours in a single game is the crafting as it can be alot of micromanagement to update the crafting in every single city.
Some really interesting ideas here. The game needs some more optimization and some better way of presenting some info to you, like for eg. It's really annoying always going to the Religion Map lens to see how effective you preachers are being.
Lots of fun, I like way you build your economy like a factory though it's a bit hard to wrap your head around. I only started playing after the latest patches so I never experienced the "bad old times" but this game seems fun and rewarding to learn/play.
The first few hours required a fairly high learning curve of the crafting system, interface and need for wonders to avoid a bottom ranking. After a few hours and a restart things have fallen into place and it is a truly well-done and fun game.
