Reviews
This game had promise and I was really hoping that Stardock would fix some issues and make the game better. The visuals are outstanding and the supply chain concept for empire building is somewhat addictive. However, that system becomes really burdensome after you have a few cities and the National Production system has a SERIOUS issue. It was doing fine for a while and then suddenly it started using MONEY as a crafting ingredient and putting me seriously in the red. I would go in manually and fix all those and then the very next turn it would do it AGAIN on other items. The whack-a-mole just makes the game unplayable. So either you need to spend a crazy amount of time every few turns tweaking your crafting (using manual instead of National system) or just play with that handicap (having way too much of one item and way too little of something else you need). The National Production system was a great idea but the implementation of crafting accelerators just doesn't work

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I highly recommend this game (after 130 hours of play). If you are a fan for this genre this is a very solid game with a lot of new ideas. If new to the genre, its a great place to start. Even though it is a first edition it is very stable, deep and full of fun and strategy. Graphics and visualizations of cities and empires are exceptional, from everything from wildlife to battles. Worth it!
This game is not trying to convince you to play it. It knows that it has an audience, and caters to them. By which I mean, this game is a bit of a lovechild between Civilization and Anno/Victoria. It's very crunchy, but it's very quietly satisfying to build an economy up from nothing. WHY I STOPPED PLAYING: I was like 15 hours into a multiplayer game when it hard crashed, unrecoverably so.
This game is similar to Civilization, but with much more attractive graphics and many details in controlling and building cities, with much easier management and very attractive game play, it will immerse you in the game for hours.
Viel ungenutztes Potenzial in diesem Spiel!
getting better with every patch
MEGA entwicklung, macht weiter so!
This game definitely deserves better reviews. Especially when compared to the horrendous civilization 7. Ara is a breath of fresh air and along with Old World will be my go to Civ games for quite a while. (BTW, I usually play offline so my steam numbers don't reflect the dozens of hours I have put into the game.) Just got the DLC and am trying it out. This game has come a long ways. Less micromanagement, some better Quality of life features and the game still looks absolutely gorgeous. It is a blend of Civ, Victoria and Anno and strikes a nice balance. I would like to see greater differentiation between the Civs, however. For example, giving the Inca the ability to build terrace farms or being to utilize mountains in some fashion. Greater Civ customization is something that the devs have said they are concentrating on so I am hopeful this game will become a classic. It honestly has the potential and seeing how civ 7 has completely bombed, a game where you can play the same Civ throughout the game from start to finish is sorely needed. I do highly recomment it and if you can get it on sale, it is an absolute bargain, IMHO. EDIT: The 1.4 update is excellent. I am thoroughly enjoying it and I have that one more turn feeling. It's 2 am. Oops! :P EDIT EDIT: The 2.1 update is really good. Some new cultural traits spice things up and automation has been made much easier. The game is in a good place and with continued improvements could eventually become a classic.
