Reviews
I genuinely love 7 Days to Die, and I'd much rather leave a positive review. But until this situation is resolved fairly, I can't support the way it has been handled. I do expect them to take responsibility for their own mistakes rather than putting the consequences on someone who has spent years creating content around and promoting their game.
YOUR GAME USES AI STATE IT IN THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ STORE PAGE YOU ARE LAZY FOR MAKING A GAME THAT ALL IT DID WAS CHANGE THE MODELS AND HAVE A HORRIBLE OPTIMIZATION YOU REMOVE SO MUCH AND SELL IT TO US FOR DLC YOU RUINED WHAT YOU CARED FOR ITS THE SAME GAME AS 10 YEARS AGO DO BETTER

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. I have played just under 900 hours in this game and before 2.0 came out I couldn't get enough of this game. After 2.0 I could have cared less about the game. The game has gone away from a zombie based open world game to a forced progression where you would be penalized for going into a higher area. This was no longer the open world sandbox that was provided for nearly a decade. The game at it's core is still the same where you build a base and try to survive every 7 days. Though you no longer had a chance to find a 'modern' weapon as you were stuck in their level of pipe weapons to handguns to... whatever they felt was good. I know there is a lot of issues going on with content creators but to be honest I stopped watching them, to include but not limited to Glock9 and GNS, The game just got stale. When Glock made a series about collecting 1,000,000 corn meal told me there wasn't much to the game progression after a few dozen attempts to survive. You never bring anything, except personal experience, to the next game and you start back in the exact same biome to start with. If you like this type of game then you will love it. If you want more of a story and different type of enemies then move on. I am sure there are a lot more 3.0 (3.x) reviews so look at those. Just know the game that was promised IS NOT the game we have now.
Once upon a time, this game was the most fun thing on Steam. My brothers and I would spend hours building, scavenging, and enjoying what started off as a genuinely difficult survival game (over a decade ago). Was it flawless? Absolutely not. Console errors and crashes would pop up with regularity, building more than 3 campfires would cause insanely massive, un-survivable hordes, and you needed to farm 20,000 trees just to spend hours building wooden bows and leveling up bow skill. And, of course, you died. A lot. But that was the charm! Underneath it all, the groundwork for an amazing game was brewing. We were continuously promised end game content, extensive new POIs, wandering nomads, new weaponry, new crafting, etc etc. And we waited, year after year, buggy patch after buggy patch, for just a little more zombie goodness to come. Now, this game is a shell of its former self. 1.0 was supposed to be the crowning glory of a decade of 7 Days. Instead, it basically turned the game to easy mode. Now we're up to 3.0, and what of the promised additions? Still no nomads, still no new weapons, and (most importantly) NO END GAME CONTENT! What's the point of playing if you're invincible after 3 horde nights? And what have the devs done to address user complaints? Blamed us for wanting too much! Then, as a slap in the face, they redesign things that didn't need changed and start adding paid DLC and AI Slop to the game. No one needs new AI generated in game signs. No one needs a bikini in the middle of an apocalypse. Give us what you promised for 10+ years. Give us something worth playing time and time again. Not more AI slop and cash grabs. Unfortunately, like so many good games, this one has died to greed and incompetence. Avoid it.
Been playing this for years. Actually started playing this on my Xbox and finally migrated here when the developers gave up on console version. So far...it's mixed. First - the game has MAJOR issues with framerates. Look at my specs. I played darkness falls mod and it was never an issue. I moved back to the original game because I wanted to see what the new stuff was. There's definitely more but having to change my settings because the developers? That's not cool. Hit detection - it's not the best. Headshots are crucial in this game and it's definitely not great. Could definitely be better. Building - it's still fun. Definitely adding more variety to make your base actually your base. Weapons - they do keep adding more, which I appreciate. Enemies - Minus the blatant ripoff of Left4Dead, not much else. I still play it. I still like it. But, I can't wait for Darkness Falls to update so I can go back to a more stable build that takes advantage of my setup.
New update just destroyed my saved world. Completely wiped, tried going back into the versions, didn't matter. In fact, every time there was an attempt to fix it, it got WORSE until everything in my world was deleted. Genuinely, HOW does this game cost money when it's unplayable? This is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. Devs don't give a ♥♥♥♥.
This game is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RPG and just really easy gets boring fast the OG 7 days do die was peak i prefer the ps4 version of this game any day of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ week how do you F UP this bad they removed or re add OG mechanics and it made the game even worse but unfortunately this is prob the best zombies survival game thats crossplay 4/10 game
This game is the epitome of fixing what isn't broken Bipolar ass devs can't decide what they want their game to be. change the most unnecessary ♥♥♥♥ every update why change how the world settings worked?? The gameplay isn't bad now, but the problem is that there's nothing stopping them from making it into a dating sim or some completely different thing by next update I wouldn't care about them pushing DLC either if they would just set the game in stone when they keep making changes to things nobody complained about while adding paid skins it feels like they're doing it because they're losing their player count and they need you to give them money It feels like a failing studio with passions that no longer align with a dying zombie survival game just milking it with microtransactions and I love this game </3 (I'm allowing comments bc I wanna know if I'm an cynical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for this)
I'll start this review by saying that I enjoy playing 7D2D. I've had it for years and had a lot of a fun playing with my friend. I've recently gotten into mods, and those have made the game even better in my eyes. However, 7D2D is a game that has slowly gotten worse over time. The main way it's gotten worse is progression. Long ago there was learn-by-doing, which is fairly self explanatory. Use a sledgehammer, get better using sledgehammers. This was replaced with learn-by-xp, which is still an acceptable system, but certainly worse than LBD. Under this system you earn skill points through XP and allocate them to skills as you see fit. Collect iron, get better at using and crafting sledgehammers. This was then replaced by an absolutely egregious system - learn-by-magazine. If you want the next tier of sledgehammer then you better get moving, because those POIs aren't gonna loot themselves. Screw you for being a stay-at-home mom baking forged iron/steel and putting craters in the ground for resources, because you're not looting POIs and that means no books. And even if you did loot POIs, and maxed out the skills to increase your chances of getting books, you'll still go a while before being able to craft anything. It slows down progression drastically and is just plain stupid. If books were an off-to-the-side thing, I'd be much more forgiving of them. But they're not. They're the only way you're gonna be able to make a workbench. Or a forge. Or a pistol. This arguably isn't even the worst of it. In update 2.0, the old temperature system was removed and replaced with environmental effects. Instead of obtaining better clothing to not burn/freeze to death in the desert/arctic, you'll just start dying after 5 minutes because the game said so. If you want to stick around then you make some smoothie to give yourself temporary immunity or wear special gear. Before, you had heat/cold resist which obviously determined how much you resisted heat/cold and made a lot more sense than "you'll die in 5 minutes because we said so". This also came alongside storms, which are.. boring. They start killing you after 5 minutes and you can either leave the biome or go indoors. Doing nothing. Because the storm doesn't have any effects other than that. There's also the zombie AI, which is fairly lacking and also kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Admittedly I am playing on 1.4 with Darkness Falls, but I've been standing on top of an ambulance while scrapping it and the nurse zombie ran off to smack a telephone pole. But while they aren't very bright, the horde composed of rotting flesh apparently has enough brain left in it to work as structural engineers in their spare time so they can attack your horde base at the weakest point. To an extent this is fine, as a horde base with a front of concrete and a rear of wood shouldn't have any zombies attacking the concrete, but it can get pretty silly when a bloodthirsty brainless zombie would rather smack the wall 20m away from you rather than follow the path to you. On top of that, in newer versions of the game zombies can fit through 1 block gaps, so the effective HP they have to remove first is cut in half. I would probably be fine with this, if not for the fact that A) The player can't do this. B) Fatass cop zombies can. Survivors smart enough and resourceful enough to forge pickaxes and then strong enough to swing that same pickaxe in a mine for in-game hours on end can't fit through a 1 meter by 1 meter hole, but the 600 pounds of rotting flesh zombie can just duck his head and make it through fine. Ok. There's also sort of.. general grievances with the game. I don't particularly mind these, but they are still grievances. 1. Gunplay is meh. Recoil is snappy and not smooth, ironsights are boneheaded. Instead of a proper sight picture there's one tall post on the front that you use to aim. This goes for all guns except the SMG, which for some reason actually has you look through both the rear and front sight. On top of this, the crosshair is still visible when aiming, reducing the need for an ironsight. Shotguns have rather.. short range. Considering all your enemies are melee-based this isn't terrible, but it could be better. 2. Vehicles don't exactly steer the best. Modded gameplay, so this may not be a terrible problem in vanilla, since the DF supercharger acts more like the dev supercharger - but the steering logic is very simple, it seems. If you want to turn 30* left, it turns the wheels 30* left. If the vehicle is oscillating between left and right this means that it'll never stop until you slow down enough for the oscillation to go away. There's no consideration for overshooting. Also the gyrocopter has seemingly no brakes when trying to land and also next to no reverse for some reason. God forbid you land in front of a wall. Also also if you crash and want to reverse then you have to wait for the wheels to stop spinning because they take forever to stop. Likely a modded issue, so take this with a pound of salt. I believe there's also AI art used on some of the posters. I haven't yet seen any of these in-game (perhaps because I don't look too hard at posters) but I have heard about it online. In conclusion: would I recommend playing 7D2D? Yes. Just grab an older version before the nonsense took hold. Would I recommend buying 7D2D? On the game's current trajectory, no. TFP seem all too interested in pushing out cosmetic DLCs. Definitely not at full price either - I enjoy playing it, but I wouldn't pay 58$ for it.
