About

Brilliant, burnt-out, possibly cursed – you play as operant Hershel Wilk, alias CASCADE. Five years ago you led your team into the abyss and have been haunted by your failures ever since. Now you've been recalled for a mysterious assignment that may give you a chance to prove yourself again.

Uncover secrets hidden in the lost corners of the city and within your own mind. Navigate a murky world of potential informants and adversaries. Pass skill checks to uncover their true motivations through subterfuge, violence, or deduction. As an operant, there are multiple ways to approach every problem - your choices and methods will be your own, and so will the consequences.

Find yourself thrown into a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological power, played out across an unforgettable city. You'll go up against international bankers, foreign techno-fascists, psychic doppelgängers, a paranoid TV presenter, a man with a box for a heart, and dozens more. Everyone you meet has their own agendas, beliefs, and secrets for you to uncover and turn to your own ends. In ZERO PARADES, even the world itself is a character with its own secrets, traumas, and miracles for you to discover.

Operants subject themselves to years of psychological training to hone their minds into their greatest weapons. Do you favor animal-like reflexes, a philosophical approach, or a different cover story for every occasion? Through Conditioning, you'll turn the deepest aspects of Hershel's identity into potent abilities and unlock new paths forward. You can even change the rules of the game itself.

Pressures simulate the physical and psychological toll of being in-theatre. Exertion pushes dice rolls in your favour – just remember that you’re gambling with your life. Keep your Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium in check or deal with the long-term repercussions.

In this line of work you're going to fail way more often than you succeed. That much is expected of you. What matters is how you pick yourself back up. If the dice don't go your way (and they won't) you'll have to improvise and hope the consequences are ones you can live with.

Reviews
Plenty of running back and forth across the map, but great artstyle, intriguing world, wonderful dialogue, and a neat skill and roleplaying system make this another excellent talking simulator.
Increiblemente creativo.

8/10
Everyone's opinion of this game suffers due to comparison to Disco Elysium, and the controversy surrounding ZA/UM; I find this very unfortunate, because despite the sins of the company, there are clearly very passionate and talented devs still there. The 'Worse':

Noticeable huge step back in the music and sound design. Largely music is unremarkable here, which is tough since DE had a soundtrack that really stuck with me since.
Not as 'fail forward' as DE, resulting in some frustrating failures, since it left me essentially waiting to retry in some cases. This was particularly true early game, before raising skills. It felt like failure after failure (which fits the story quite well, but was hard to get through).
The game has some bugs and bad execution (particularly involving loading saves, and some menu audio and voice acting jank), but they did not hamper my enjoyment very much.
The mysteries of the world feel like they are solvable, in a way that merits less debate and thought, counter to DE (this will be preference, but I loved the unknowable elements of DE).
The 'Better (or Comparable)':

The writing is different, but largely as good as DE, only suffering due to some options being somewhat absurd for the 'spy' set dressing. It clearly wanted the bizarre options of DE, but it fits less well.
The setting allows for characters that I found much more enticing on average than DE, with competing spies, your old cohort, popstars, and bootleggers all providing very interesting backstories.
The thought cabinet feels much improved due to how it interacts with Fatigue/Anxiety/Delirium. You don't get a fail state often, but you get lasting repercussions.
The action sequences. I loved the very few that were in DE, and here there are more, with seemingly more interaction. I think this becomes especially notable as you near the climax.
I personally felt more invested in the plot here, than in DE; once it gets going, the mysteries unravelling before my eyes had me engrossed.
Verdict: I think it's less profound than DE, but it was certainly far more exciting with much improved gameplay. As a 'game' ZP is vastly superior to DE... but I think as an 'experience' DE remains unmatched. All that said, I think this is one of the best games I've ever played. I feel it's unfair to toss it aside only due to being worse than a lightning-in-a-bottle brilliant piece of art. I look forward to the future of Disco-like games.
an extensive plot with a versatile immersion into the emotions of the hero. Suitable for every millennial
