Good game. Had a good sequel. Pretty good modding community.
A tough, old-school alien invasion campaign with real teeth. If you miss the classic X-COM vibe—soldiers with names, panic missions, permadeath, and that constant “we’re barely holding it together” pressure—Xenonauts delivers. It’s a strategy game that doesn’t babysit you: the tactical layer is tense, positioning matters, and the air war + base management adds a satisfying long-term “global defense” puzzle on top of the firefights. What really sells it is the tone and pacing. Early game is scrappy and desperate, mid-game becomes a careful balancing act of research, funding, and interceptors, and every tactical mistake feels expensive. When your squad survives a messy mission with half the team bleeding and ammo running low, it’s a real fist-pump moment. It’s not perfect, though. The interface and flow can feel clunky compared to modern tactics games, and some parts can drag once you’ve seen certain mission types a few times. But if you’re into methodical, punishing strategy, it’s absolutely worth it. Pros Excellent classic X-COM-style tactical combat with meaningful risk Strong strategic layer (bases, research, air combat) that actually matters Great “campaign pressure” and rewarding progression Cons UI/quality-of-life feels dated in places Some repetition in missions and pacing later on Verdict: A love letter to the classic formula that’s challenging, tense, and highly replayable if you enjoy the grind of hard decisions. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this game. I have always loved the old UFO games (X-Com Apocalypse was the absolute best), and this game is the most similar to them. Pros: Base building and world coverage Air combat is very well implemented (manual/automatic) Equipping and upgrading soldiers Cons: Less mission variety, maps unfortunately start to repeat after a few hours
Kill the ayy lamos.
Świetna gra podobna do starych XCOM z dostępnymi modami
Pretty good game. A nice challange.
good strategy game
Fun like the old one, but better graphics and slightly different approach!
This game is what XCom should be
Pro fandy UFO 1+2, hodne inspirovane v novejsim podani. Kdo hral puvodni hry bude jako doma. Jinak boje ve vzduchu manualne nehratelne (alespon pro me), takze nutno pouzivat automat a spojovat letouny do letky. 9/10
