Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Genius game, great 9.0 update. My only complaint is that some of the AI orders you can give to ships are absolutely useless because the AI just does not execute it properly, and the star system of pilots is not very rewarding. Luckily there is ways around it - the most critical orders work reasonably well, and once you get to managers pilot stars no longer matter.
One of my favorite games of all time, and it just keeps getting better.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A little hard to learn and get started but once you do it's such a great game.
I think this is a good game. I have played a total of 31 hours and I still don't understand what I'm doing. I'm used to playing Elite Dangerous, and the controls are completely different on X4. We really need an official gamepad template for this game that actually makes sense. I wish X4 would change how pilots travel in this game. Its okay to make traversing like Elite Dangerous. I wish we would get rid of the highways and jump gates. They really take a lot away from the gaming experience. Please get rid of the highways and jump gates. This game would be close to perfect if that would happen. I also hate how the game tracks your destinations. Its difficult to even traverse in this game due to stupid jump gates, highways, and how the game guides you to your destinations. Other than that, the game seems to be really well done. Graphics are good, even though I can't turn my graphics up the way I would like due to my graphics card only having 6GB of VRAM and only 16GB of RAM total, dual-channel. I want to play this game more, but its difficult to travel and also difficult to know if you are going the right way to your destinations. I can't get past the first mission where I'm supposed to plant something on the SCA's station. I scanned the leak, flew away to safety. I then, fly to my next destination, but when I get there and get close to my target on the station, I start getting shot at. Am I supposed to disembark to my spacesuit to plant it or what? The game doesn't do a very good job of teaching new players what to actually do. People should not have to google search how to do things in your game. Your game should inform players on what to do and how to do them. Its ruined the experience for me, but I can't rate the game bad just because it contains things I absolutely hate. The game seems to be very well created, but the initial missions do not tell new players what to actually do and that ruins it for a lot of people.
If you remember Elite on the BBC Micro (or the CPC464.... and others) then this is the game that we all dreamed of being able to play. There is not one single reason to not get this.
Enjoyable game if you got more time to spare then a stellaris playthrough but unlike stellaris THIS GAME SUCKS TO MOD! Now like most game when an update comes out it usually breaks all the mods so trying to find which mod is crashing the game can be tedious. This game also doesnt have a very active player base so some mods are just lost to the abyss but for this game in particular is arguably the worse i have ever seen in gaming. First, this game doesnt give you a crash report so if you want to fiqure out whats crashing the game your going to have to turn on one mod at a time. Now this wouldnt be too bad if it wasnt for the fact that unsubscribing from the mod doesnt remove it from the game. it still shows up on extension which still holds the mods information. So you physically go into the files and delete that specific mod which doesnt help that some mods dont provide the files name.
Would not recommend for anyone not already familiar with the frustrating jankiness of the X series. The game can become playable with heavy reliance on external guides and tools but will always feel hostile to the player expierience. Abyssmal UI, obtuse systems and a shallow narrative make sure that any enjoyment found here is reliant entirely on the player being content play in the sandbox and finding their own fun. There's no living world here, no real factions or narratives. There's storylines that are cumbersome to play and matter little. Empire building has no point in a universe inhabited by ants moved only by basic imulse reaction. The game may trick you for a while, dazzling by how much stuff there's in here, but eventually you'll see that none of it matters, its just stuff, tons of stuff haphazardly crammed into a box without ever really becoming an actualy, cohesive game.
purchased this game at its release played x, x2, x3, and was super excited for x4. got over 200 hours in before I gave up. controls were wonky, and after about a week of giving it a rest, I forgot how to play the controls are so bad. So, here i am 8 years later. new computer. using mouse and keyboard instead of a joystick. Figured some issues would be fixed. Couldn't even finish the tutorials. on the combat tutorial my ship was stuck in reverse and I slammed into the station. kept resetting my input controls (mouse and keyboard, default settings) so that I had to keep hitting shift space to reenable mouse steering. But ship was still stuck in max reverse. finally fixed that (have no idea what reset it) then I started a game. did the patrol begining adventure mode, where you have to fix a satelite. (sorry, Im a bit distracted. kid keeps saying Im misspelling words, like satellite. I don't care, dads ranting) couldnt figure out how to disembark the ship. every time I go into a menu (had dead satelite targeted, was stopped within 50 meters) the stupid ship would reverse and take me away from the satellite (kid says thank you for spelling satelite correctly last time. still dont care.) Id be like 1.6k away and have to fly back. finally decided to take out my phone and look it up. Swear, I was in the ship menu (enter key) and didn't see "get up" like 4 times. but, control D works as well, and I can do that without slamming my ship into reverse. exited the ship. Now my space suit is in full reverse. Cant stop it. x dont work, y dont work, z dont work. I can hit tab and start moving forward at like 5 meters a second, but I cannot stop. Its either full reverse if im not doing anything, or max thrust with tab. Stupid game. I just saved and quit. Maybe in another 8 years we will get another 10 dlc and they will finally fix the stupid input bugs. Edit : same day, quit, restarted, issue went away. also figured out when mouse steering goes away you can left click and drag the mouse and move your ship that way without constantly hitting shift space to get steering back whenever you exit a menu.
Great game. However you will be overwhelmed with death by 1000 papercuts after you get further into the game. Frustration after frustration with the AI once you starting having to manage 50+ ships and stations.
Was watching Cohh play.. looked so much fun. But i dont have 10k ppl watching and guiding me. trying to ask anything in this forum and you get the most acoustic replies. Not so much fun alone and trying to watch videos taht make any sense on yt. over all it was a waste of money i dont thikn ill ever tough this again.
