Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2/day in the week to Aug 11 → 2.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
5.5/10 (Meh)
In short, the game feels very barebones. I understand that its a mobile port, but its also a remaster released in 2023, on PC, and at a price tag that cannot be considered cheap, even on sale. While I did somewhat enjoy the game (largely because I enjoy turn-based RPGs in general and the story was serviceable), the extremely positive reviews it has is unwarranted, and the high achievement percentages are suspicious af. I'm also aware that the dev team working on this is small. I have adjusted my expectations, but I think my complaints are still valid. The devs have had it good anyways with all the glazing they received. Now let's actually talk about the game.
Graphics and Environment Quality
I don't mind the graphics looking a bit dated, heck if done right it could look charming. But the world just feels soooooooooo empty, would it hurt to put more elements into it? WitchSpring R gets it right sometimes with interiors and a select few exteriors, like the Mines and Pieberry's house. But for the most part, the world feels empty and strewn together haphazardly, making it feel not at all convincing. Characters and models generally look good, feels like the one thing they focused on a lot.
Cutscenes and Presentation
Presentation just feels stale. 70-80% of the cutscenes and interactions in this game is just talking, which would've been fine and normal for these kinds of games if the more action-oriented cutscenes were mostly good. Most of them don't feel good enough, and the good ones are concentrated at the final act of the game. It made me go "Where was this the entire rest of the game?!" The action sequences and set pieces in this game (barring the final act) are very short.
Combat Gameplay, Overall Gameplay Loop, and Quests
By far its weakest part, WitchSpring R's combat does not feel well thought out. It does have a decent amount of elements to it, but they don't contribute to depth, or more specifically strategy variance and the necessity of it. The early parts of the game when I was still figuring out the combat was definitely the most fun I had in it. But once I figured out how to play optimally, my overall strategy pretty much never changed. Boils down to starting off with agility item, using defense item through Black Joe, and picking between two of my highest DPS skill depending on whether I'm facing a single target or multiple. The enemies almost never had anything unique that forces the player to play in a certain way. The ones that do (deers with immunity near Aimhard's Temple and the deer demons that burst you down in one turn) are few and only requires one move/turn to counter. Being able to scale infinitely also worked against the game imo. I played on the highest difficulty, and the game just turned into a glorified DPS check where I often overscale and make the game far too easy. The spells of the same orb count do practically the same thing as their counterparts from different elements, just dealing a different debuff. Most of the gameplay outside of combat serves the purpose of improving your stats, that's it. Quests, not excluding the main quest, just feel like fetch quests. I'm just running from one place to another, killing something, getting something, talking to someone. I'm sure a lot of the JRPG's I've played did this too, but with WitchSpring R it feels worse because of how bad the presentation is, and how uninteresting the story can be.
Story (spoilers)
Cookie-cutter, but has enough depth and uniqueness to keep it good. I personally was still able to enjoy the story (it's a big reason I continued playing after all). Even so, I don't think its particularly good or anything, especially if you compare it to Persona or even Octopath Traveler. To most people outside the niche it's probably plain bland. The characters feel adequately written. Pieberry is generally happy-go-lucky and might make you think she's shallow, but the dialogues and some of her actions do enough to prove otherwise. Other characters are interesting but not particularly deep or well-written. Ending feels rushed, and a decent chunk of the story is delivered through exposition and dialogue, not actions. Though the reveal with Elysion and Black Joe, and the whole Anna plotline are pretty good. The former in particular caught me pleasantly by surprise compared to how predictable other reveals are in this game. Just wish the entire reveal wasn't done purely by dialogue.

I bought this game on a whim because of its artstyle -- I'm so down bad for any game with a cute protagonist, so I decided to jump into it knowing nothing about the franchise. It was a good thing I did, as this game has made me cry three (3) times, and threatened to do the same for many, many more times. The voice acting (played on default Japanese VO's) was superb and really brings Pieberry to life. It cannot be overstated how well-intertwined her character is with her voice, along with several others. It allowed their emotions to resonate with me, sharing in their laughs, their tears, and sometimes even laughing and crying at the same time (for the absurdity of the situation leaves you with no other choice)! All that is to say, if you love unreliable narrators playing with your emotions, it is right here, right now. These cast of characters will quite literally bewitch your heart and leave you longing for more once it is over -- the story from beginning to end draws you in and never lets you out. For once, you'd be quite pressed to find any fault to hold against WitchSpring R at all. That isn't to say that there are literally no issues; any work will always have its flaws. Instead, what minor mistakes this game has (for example, typos I encountered in dialogue) are easily buried under the more important things: its story, delivery, and impact. This easily ticks all three boxes for me, with a solid 10/10 for all categories. In the interest of maintaining the fine line between 'describing the story without actually saying the story out loud and spoiling everyone else,' you will be taken on an adventure from the first minute until the end. You will explore a huge continent for little old Pieberry, and she is just as excited as you are, probably. This lets her meet a huge cast of the aforementioned funny, loveable, and depressing characters, who will help her grow. This is a story of growth, though it may not seem like it at first. You will grow up, literally. As someone who rarely writes reviews for games under the assumption that the product speaks for itself (in its covert art and promotional material), this is not one of those times. I wrote one of my once-in-a-decade reviews just for this game, so I hope that any readers take this into consideration. It is very much something special, and I have already encouraged all my friends to try it out, as well! UPDATE (Jan 19 2026): I liked this game so much I ended up writing THE FIRST fanfic for it on ao3 c: c: c: hopefully more people write for the fandom too since it's lonely af.
Almost exemplary game. This is how I imagined an ideal JRPG when I was a kid. Wish the next game could be 200-300 hour longer.
This is a very cute game that will definitely not lead you into dark emotional alleyways to shank you in the kidneys. Definitely.

Witchspring R is a streamlined dungeon crawler about a little abandoned witch named Pieberry who lives alone in the woods. It's very character-building focused, you'll want to put Pieberry through a vigorous training regimen, augment her spells, and upgrade her equipment. I recommend playing it on [Very Hard], which I found to have one of the best difficulty curves in any RPG I've played. The bosses are pretty consistently hard enough to kick your ass if you haven't been keeping on top of all of the games' systems, or get too sloppy with your turn economy. The game is also full of optional bosses that are usually too hard to fight right away, so if you enjoy the Super-Boss Routing Experience you'll like Witchspring feels like it's in the mode all of the time. The dungeons are really based around these sort of fixed-layouts enemy parties that all have one-time EXP rewards, which I really digged. So the game kind of resists mindless grinding, although to clear all of content you will have to spent some time gathering materials to get the best equipment. The characters and story are very cute and pleasant, it's a pretty funny and whimsical game at first but slowly becomes more heartwarming as things progress.
-------------------------------- You can feel how much love went into this game at every single corner. The mix of following the story, gathering, training, crafting, and combat creates a massive urge to just keep moving forward. If you’re down for a rewarding grind, this thing will definitely make you happy. But keeping it real, two things actually ticked me off big time. The boss respawn mechanic is pure hell. On top of that, the triggers for some achievements and the whole weapon evolution menu are designed in such a nasty, confusing way that you completely lose your mind without endless guesswork, wondering what the hell the game even wants from you. In the end, though, i couldn't care less about all that frustration because at the end of the day, this game is just an absolute gem. If you want a heartwarming, gorgeous grindfest, you simply gotta play this.
