1) Story It's boring and bad. It's mostly simple talk betwen main commander/protagonist, general type character who is rank above and few grunts while nothing interesting is happening. First 10 missions are the most poor exposition dumps about lore and setting I did see in a while. Just skip whole conversation cutscenes. Litteraly nothing worth of your time is happening for majority of the game anyway. 2) Visuals and music Graphics and art is alright but you will get tired of those boring animations and that units from both sides look the same unlike games like Wargroove. Music? What music? Oh there was music in this game? I didn't even notice lol 3) Gameplay It's pretty.... dull version of Advance War or Wargroove without any sort of depth or tactics. Units mostly have two or three moves, there is no difference in units design, abilities or stats between sides and most of missions is just the lamest kind tug of war I did see in a while where the most expensive units are so strong that AI cannot do anything about that because its way too busy purchasing only the cheapest units. Don't get me wrong - this game will definitely satisfy casual audience of this genre but it just didn't work for me who spend almost entire life time playing this genre. 4) Traits, super moves and commanders Those three are the only difference between sides of conflict and they all depend on selected commander. Traits are small passive changes that affect mostly the army. Most of them are boring nothing stuff but some of later ones are indeed powerful. When energy bar is filled by attacking, killing and losing units player can use super move (also depend on selected commander) or summon commander unit. Super move buffs all units with specific thing that last for a turn and commander unit is just a powerful version of a generic unit that last until it dies. 5) The good, the bad and the ugly The game have a very slow start, first 20 out of 40 missions are really boringly easy as heck where no tactics required yet take a while to finish anyway. The gameplay is extremely sluggish - units have very limited movement distance (often moving only single tile right after they spawn in their next turn). Every single time to move you need to select unit then click move button and then select location and click "end unit turn". What is this - Warcraft 1? Enemy units not only takes their sweet time but also the game need to show you for a second their movement range first. Why the heck not just do the action like in any other turn based game before? Enemy AI? What AI? Its dumb as rocks. Constantly purchasing cheap units, doesn't summon commander when should, using super move with only 3 units alive that cannot attack anything... Seriously, Advanced Wars on Game Boy Advance was more intelligent enemy than that. Wargroove, Advance Wars, Divinity, Ancient Empires? Those games are way older and yet did that 10 times better. Not even in game setting to speed up enemy turn movement or skip it entirely? CMON! Is that hard to implement hold right click or hold right+left click and move your mouse to quickly move around camera? Nope, you need to put mouse on side and wait ETERNITY for camera to move. Is there a way to increase the camera scroll speed? Of course not. At least using WSAD buttons does move camera a little bit faster but then again - what is the point of saying that Warborn can be played with mouse only in the first place if doing so is far inferior experience. Why zoom out button does hide UI but displays objective and defeat conditions? I would gladly play WHOLE GAME on zoom out but what the heck is this design decision? Why auto hiding UI and display instead game conditions that are basically the SAME on EVERY single mission. 6) So how long the game is? There is multiplayer but considering that this game combat is not as good as Wargroove I rather stay far away from it. Singleplayer is 40 missions long (most of them are boring or copypasted that takes less than 10 turns to finish), 10 for each different commander. Around 35 hours to beat those. 7) Conclusion I will rate this game 6/10. After finishing Warborn it just left me with feeling to replay Wargroove. I did exactly that and boy that game is so awesome. Never again Warborn. Never again.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Decent turn based tactical game. Though I don't think this is worth the full price tag. I got this at $5 on sale and I think that's a good price to spend about 15 hours in a game. The strategies required for the campaign aren't exactly mind blowing though. You can pretty much brute force each level. Yeah you'll lose a lot of your own units but there's a bunch of missions where you'll have to sacrifice them anyways. Each commander "ultimate" doesn't actually do much to turn any sort of tide except the main bad guy's one where you can't even play as him. I played the campaign but didn't pay much attention to the story. It's basically following 4 factions that end up fighting each other due to misunderstandings until they find the big bad guy causing the actual ruckus.
Honestly, I'm surprised this game isn't more well-known, and doesn't have a higher positive review ratio. This seems like a great game for anyone who likes both mecha anime, like Gundam, and turn-based strategy games similar to Advance Wars. I'm sure there are plenty of other people out there who are in both of those camps, and would enjoy this game as much as I have so far. Admittedly, I haven't played really far yet, so I don't know if the game actually gets frustrating later on (as some people claim), but so far it's been fairly easy but fun. Also, for any Deck owners wondering about it, this game runs PERFECTLY on a Steam Deck. At the time I bought this, there was no official Deck compatibility rating yet on Steam, nor any reports at all on ProtonDB, but I really wanted to play a game like this on my Deck so I gave it a shot, and was very pleased with the results. I also added the very first entry for this game on ProtonDB.
Warborn is a bit of a hidden gem of a strategy game. It features mech combat, with each mech having 3 skills, usually relating to different weapon systems. Each mech has armor rating for each of the 3 weapon types. Attacks always hit, which is something I love, no random misses. The difficulty can be a bit unbalanced. I played on hard mode, and most levels were fairly easy. But some were pretty difficult. The final mission seems impossible on hard mode, I had to switch to normal mode to beat it. It is also fun to go back and try to get S ranks on the missions, although even on hard mode I got them most of the time on my first try. The story is a grounded sci-fi military tale. It reminds me of Front Mission in that way (and other ways too, obviously). Great game.
this game is fun, but can get a little bit repeatitive. Def try if you are into mecha games.
