TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children is the first season of a turn-based strategy SRPG that takes place in the world of Troubleshooter.

Valhalla is a free trading nation erected by three world powers for their own benefits after the world war. In an attempt to control the nation, the three world powers banned the army from Valhalla. Due to these circumstances, public order in Valhalla is always unstable and thus after ten years the Valhalla government made a bold decision.
The Valhalla government granted civilians the right to investigate and arrest criminals in order to lower the rising crime rate. People call them Troubleshooter.
10 years have passed since the introduction of the troubleshooter system. Albus, a 20-year-old young man, becomes an official troubleshooter. Albus first starts his company on his own but soon takes in many colleagues as he solves more cases. All these new members of the company have their own motivations and stories. You will be experiencing a variety of missions in Valhalla through their stories.

All characters in Troubleshooter have their own unique classes. Each character can rank up to the upper class, and the role of your character changes according to the class.
All characters in Troubleshooter can acquire various masteries according to their levels and classes. Furthermore, you can activate additional effects by combinations of masteries. Utilizing this, you can make a character for your unique strategy.
Such masteries can be acquired by leveling your character up. However, in most cases, you can acquire masteries from enemies. In other words, you can take your enemies' unique traits and apply them to your characters.
There are more than 100 unique missions in Troubleshooter. All missions are designed independently, and all of them have their own unique circumstances.
Troubleshooter uses more than 500 cut scenes to portray the story.
As new characters join your company, playable content will be unlocked according to their roles. For example, if you recruit a hunter character, you will be able to tame beasts. You will be able to craft drones if you recruit engineers.

Truly an hidden gem, a great mix of Xcom 2 with a very interesting visual novel, very likeable characters and a captivating art style. Game is incredibly polished and I wish for a sequel (possibly slightly shorter and with much less grinding). It's definitely not a game for everyone, but what game really is these days? A good amount of steam [strike]players[/strike] users just buy and install lots of singleplayers at once and barely finish any of them.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 2.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Ok now it's time for my two cents! I love this game. It is a great mix of grid based strategy xcom game with a jrpg feeling character wise and managment. We have genercis as well as crafted charters which we have plenty of things to change from builds items to costumes that change the looks! The game is fairly complex and devours time like it's nothing. It could do a better job to explain all things and mechanics used ingame, I even found gripes from other players that they needed to watch videos explaning and one was from the devs ( I think it was part of a stream of something) if I recall good (if not please correct me if anyone knows). The game has translation and pacing problems. The former isn't a big deal since most of the things you can get from the context if it comes to the story. It's worse when it comes to ability descriptions. The latter is a much more pressing thing that stems from the lack of developer experience. The game is still supported and undergoes maintenance and patching. So it is definitely a work of passion from the devs. Another thing is I do advise to not dive into the game if you don't have much time. The base game story takes about 80h depending on playstyle and there are two DLC first of which is free to pick up. You frequently have missions or cases that can take 2h or more to do. One saving grace is that if you quit during a mission the game makes a automatic checkpoint and you can resume your play from that moment. You can't do them manualy to not save scum. The mechanics themselves are made in such a way that promotes grind and requires time. You need money so you do cases, you need materials so you either do cases or use money to buy them so you need to do missions and then you craft and got a sucky attribute spread? Grind some more! So definitely not for someone with lack of time to invest. On the other side the game rewards the time you put in allowing you to become supremely overpowered with the right gear and masteries. Another con is balance. I felt that some abilites are clearly OP and need a think through. For example there is a mastery that allows you to regain 1 action point if you kill someone. Couple that with the mastery that reduced cooldown after a kill and you can do half of a map on one turn and I'm not exagerating here. Be aware that the dlc is also a great jump in difficulty that will require even more grinding. But if you have a lot of spare time and enjoy diving into mechanics and building characters this game is for you. I myself give this game a 9/10. I subtracted 1 point because of the balance, pacing and translation issues. I also acknowledge more potential con's well maybe pros for other people so I mark them as a gray area that you yourself can think about. I hope that we can get even more improvements in the later entries from the team.
DRAFT: - bad AI -- enemies will sometimes hide in corners of map despite being aggro'd (intentional to prevent turtle playstyle?) - cover system not as good as XCOMs -- almost everything is indestructible -- peeking walls when next to the edge doesnt give you sight unlike xcom -- many objects look like they should be cover but arent -- many objects look like they can be seen through but cant (i shouldnt have to press V to know if a wall with a hole in it is seethrough) - too few/simple equipment sets - endgame difficulty capped, no difficulty reason to make/improve builds - at endgame it seems physical damage is the only thing that can kill you, elemental (ESP) damage seems nonexistent - bad graphics - bad audio -- sion's electricity moves dont obey volume options? or its just extremely loud -- misty has no sound? -- fire veil explosion effect sounds like its from the 90s - bad translation - too many threshold/conditional stats - wish there were a bit more build options/archetypes per class/ESP type - many UI bugs especially in the player hub (shooter street) - bad performance when many units are on screen (draki's nest) (4090/13900kf) despite all those issues its the best game of all time: + insane amount of content + many complex game systems, very fun to build characters/beasts/drones ++ still learning/discovering game systems hundreds of hours in + tons of well thought out QOL features
I love this game, I really do. But I cannot with clear conscience recommend anyone playing it, since its riddled with save corruption problem. I started playing it 5 times and not a single time was I able to progress anywhere further than third area. One would think that in 5 years since the release the developers could have revamped the save system completely... guess its too much to ask.
Korean X-COM Huge maps High character/enemy count Unique characters with their own abilities and builds Loot Jank-free
Summary
Troubleshooter is a game with more mechanics than is honestly necessary, the majority of which can be safely ignored and only really contribute to bloating the core mechanics of the game. And it's a shame because the core gameplay, creating unique builds for all your characters and having them wreck havok across the map, is fun. This is in direct contrast to the story which, while having good ideas, is nonsensical. Taking all that into account, I would rate Troubleshooter a 6/10. $25 is a fair price for the game.
Review
Troubleshooter is an interesting game. It feels like it should be an MMORPG and has all the hallmarks of one, but is in fact, a single player game. It has item crafting, item tiers, randomized stats on each item, and a menu scheme that should be familiar with anyone that's played an MMORPG before. It even has a small bit of overworld where you can walk around and talk to NPCs as if you were in an MMORPG. But the question is... why? All these mechanics do is dilute the core gameplay experience and for the most part, can be ignored unless you're planning to play on a higher difficulty. At its core, Troubleshooter is a tactical RPG. Move along a grid, use abilities, and either take out enemies or complete objectives. This part of the gameplay is fairly standard, but where Troubleshooter really shines is in its ability customization. Every character can equip a number of masteries with certain groups of masteries unlocking special passives that greatly increases your strength. This is where the fun really begins as you try to find what mastery sets best synergize with one another and before you know it, you'll have created a unique build that works exclusively for you. Though I did talk down on the story earlier, I will give it some credit. It has many decent ideas including the setting, but tries to do too much at once. Every party member has a subplot and by the end of the game, nothing is concluded in a satisfactory manner, including the main plot line. In fact, I didn't even realize I was playing the final mission of the game until the credits were rolling. The game makes you feel more like an observer of a larger story than an active participant in the events going on. Overall, Troubleshooter is decent purely for its gameplay alone. It has a solid foundation and I hope the sequel can be more focused in terms of mechanics and story. Also, be aware that the translation isn't the greatest. You'll be scratching your head on occasion trying to understand a certain ability or description.
Finished the game at 300 hours. (game + 1 free DLC) first 5 hours on NORMAL difficulty the rest on CRUEL plus CHALLENGE mode it was fun in general the super big mission maps were great this game is better than Ogre Tactics it's MUCH better than Triangle Strategy I'm having a hard time choosing my next game to buy, because i have been spoiled. :-(
I was promised XCOM on crack. I got a visual novel with mediocre writing, minimal polish, and boring characters. Maybe it gets good eventually. Maybe some day I'll have the time to find out. In the meantime I'll play games that respect my time.
