TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children is the first season of a turn-based strategy SRPG that takes place in the world of Troubleshooter.

Valhalla is a free trading nation erected by three world powers for their own benefits after the world war. In an attempt to control the nation, the three world powers banned the army from Valhalla. Due to these circumstances, public order in Valhalla is always unstable and thus after ten years the Valhalla government made a bold decision.
The Valhalla government granted civilians the right to investigate and arrest criminals in order to lower the rising crime rate. People call them Troubleshooter.
10 years have passed since the introduction of the troubleshooter system. Albus, a 20-year-old young man, becomes an official troubleshooter. Albus first starts his company on his own but soon takes in many colleagues as he solves more cases. All these new members of the company have their own motivations and stories. You will be experiencing a variety of missions in Valhalla through their stories.

All characters in Troubleshooter have their own unique classes. Each character can rank up to the upper class, and the role of your character changes according to the class.
All characters in Troubleshooter can acquire various masteries according to their levels and classes. Furthermore, you can activate additional effects by combinations of masteries. Utilizing this, you can make a character for your unique strategy.
Such masteries can be acquired by leveling your character up. However, in most cases, you can acquire masteries from enemies. In other words, you can take your enemies' unique traits and apply them to your characters.
There are more than 100 unique missions in Troubleshooter. All missions are designed independently, and all of them have their own unique circumstances.
Troubleshooter uses more than 500 cut scenes to portray the story.
As new characters join your company, playable content will be unlocked according to their roles. For example, if you recruit a hunter character, you will be able to tame beasts. You will be able to craft drones if you recruit engineers.

Previously, I had seen this game on the store page; looked at the graphics and thought "eh... this doesn't look that good.". Later on, I saw a meme floating around twitter that had a developer response to a review that requested dating mechanics to be included in the game and the developer response was something along the lines of "Would be nice, but none of my team members have experience with that". Curious, I checked the game out again and found the review section was FILLED with responses from the developer. Look below, you'll see EVERY review has a response, both positive and negative, and all of them are thoughtful and insightful from the development team. I decided to buy the game. Now look, I'll tell you this: The translation is a bit shoddy, and the 3D graphics can definitely be improved upon but here is the thing: this game is so much fun. If you are an ounce interested in tactical RPG's or strategy RPG's you cannot go wrong with this one. However, the highlight for me besides the excellent gameplay was the storyline. Be warned, the storyline is considered anime by some, and yeah I can understand. It takes on the themes of heroism, and many of the characters are delusional optimists by other games standards, but hey, is that so wrong? I liked ALL the characters, and they are developed well over the story, the 2D cutscenes are beautiful, and the character sprites all conveyed so much charm and personality. Besides that, this game also has some aspects of a life sim. You have to pay your rent, pay your team members, and expand your troubleshooter agency. Some of this happens over the plot, but a lot of it requires you to go on side missions to earn money to keep up, get resources, craft your own equipment, ect. It's all very fun, and this is reinforced by the worldbuilding. You're just some schmuck with a troubleshooter license. Why would you have anything given to you for free? Want something? Work for it. The world slowly begins to notice your presence, and you get more and more recognition. It's really fun, both gameplay wise as you get more benefits and donations, but also storywise. A beautiful way to mix both story and gameplay in one. One more thing that stood out to me in this game as that it does become very difficult if you are inexperienced with TRPG's, as I was. You can always lower the difficulty, but it's also your sign to go out and do some side missions to level up your team and get resources for better weapons and armour. Lastly. this is just a personal thank you to Dandylion; the team behind Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children. This game is wonderful, and even if you like none of its aspects for whatever reason; you can feel the intense amount of love and effort put into this game especially for a studio's first game (I believe, at least only game on steam). The fan outreach, response to criticism and the updates on the coming sequel (very excited) all come together to make you guys one of my favourite game studios. This sort of love put into the game is hard to come by these days, but here it shines very bright and turns your game into a personal 10/10. One of my favourite games ever.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 2.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This review is more painful than I'd like it to be but it's sadly necessary. I've always been attracted to this game for the lovely drawings they made for characters, which are absolutely stylish both in their faces and outfits; i've also heard several people praising this game as if it was a masterpiece.. and yet, after a few hours, here's a negative review. This game is like the baby of XCOM with a boring B-level otome, and it's kinda weird to play. You find yourself in these otome style dialogues and soundtracks, and navigate through a plethora of options, sub-options, sub-sub-options and it's so complex that you might think "ok, in some hours all this will make sense" but they keep adding. The story is basically just an excuse for these turn-based fights, and despite said lovely drawing art when you see the actual characters they look so basic and textureless they seem picked from some old Final Fantasy game. The fights themselves start very well and are extremely complex, with tons of buffs, debuffs, moves and specialities. This is the only part where the game has actual appeal, but fights are very long and often with dialogues in the middle of it and if you accidentally fail.. you have to redo the fight from scratch, cheesy dialogues included. I found myself redoing one and being forced to skip skip skip was more tedious than redoing the fight itself. Speaking of which, characters often repeat while fighting the same sentence in robotic ways, and ifthat sounds boring after a few hours i can't imagine after 50+. For these reasons, despite the turn-based potential in fights, I really can't see where all the praise for this game comes from. i know I might get some hate for this review, but if it has to be that way, then so be it. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3471442058
While I don't feel this is a bad game, ultimately the question is would I recommend it. And for that the answer is no. I can tell there is probably an enjoyable game if you stick with it and get to the "fun" part. But I don't really have the patience to play games for 15-20 hours just to get to the "fun" part. The combat was fun enough for the earlier missions where these are mostly an introduction of mechanics. I can see there eventually would be a lot of customization but nothing hooked me to wanting to keep playing. I don't know if this is a known IP or something the devs invented but the world never really made sense to me. Again there is a mystery that at some point would be explained i'm sure, but the core concept just was odd. The characters are odd. the mc seems to be a giant oblivious idiot. It just didn't work for me.
What if XCOM was anime? What if FE had depth? What if FFT had content? What if Persona had gameplay? What if Disgaea was good? Troubleshooter answers those burning questions.
This game is the equivalent of going to that local mom and pop shop, dropping like 5 bucks for a lunch item and than you proceed to watch them give you a buffet of generous helpings, I finished the game + both 2 dlcs at 390 hours over several long breaks because there was so much and as a forewarning, some missions on hard difficulty genuinely took like half a day to complete. I basically ended up refusing to engage in entire systems like the robots and the crafting system because the pets+mastery was already more than enough for me. Not only is the size and depth of this game insane but the fact they give you 1 of the 2 dlcs for free, ontop of the already pretty cheap price makes this an incredible deal for what you are actually getting. If you ever read the dev notes they can be pretty hard on themselves too which is almost as absurd as the amount of content, if any game could qualify as a fairly unheard of gem I'd say it's this game. At the end of it I was left with this bizarre feeling of being drained and happy it's over while also wishing the season 2 had released already.
If there's a game that makes full use of the expression "best bang for your buck" it's this one. You will have a lot of gameplay here, and people who enjoy the SRPG genre or come from the XCOM universe will feel at home. While the story is not the most unique or original, you will mostly be here for the strategy and gameplay. There’s a certain simplicity in the game’s mechanics, and as you progress you will get used to new ones. The tutorial is kind and simple. You won’t need to learn everything at once or read huge walls of text. The pacing is nicely done and it respects the player’s time. Some characters will be unlocked along the way, and while I agree that some of them may be unlocked too late in the game, considering the number of missions available I would say it’s more than okay. It’s up to you how you approach these missions. There are main missions that allow you to advance in the story and plenty of optional missions to level up and stay competitive or even overpowered if you’re into that. It’s important to check the items you get during these missions, as well as new weapons, new clothes, and everything in between. There are plenty of boxes for you to open during missions, and it’s wise to open them if you are near one. Getting the best equipment possible is a huge help for later missions, and the same can be said for new materials, leveling up your class, or even changing classes. The game offers plenty of freedom for you to experiment through trial and error. As my missions went on, I got a bit tired of hearing the same phrases from my teammates or listening to the same tunes, so I ended up switching to some lofi, and it ended up being such a chill combo. With all due respect to the audio department, after 60 hours some effects got a bit too repetitive, and that’s okay. When I finally beat the final mission, I felt a sense of relief, and some missions can go on for quite some time. Not only that, but I felt some missions had too many enemies. I would have preferred fewer enemies and more strategy with a slower pacing, because when you enter a mission with 40, 50, or more enemies, it feels like the SRPG aspect fades and now I’m just slowly walking to the next enemy. Speaking of enemies, depending on the missions there’s a nice variety. Not only human soldiers but also thugs, some melee focused, others making use of firearms for medium or long range such as snipers. There are also non-human enemies in less urban environments, which provide a really good change of scenery, something very welcome if you start to feel burned out from the city setting. In the end, I had great fun. I went for the easier difficulty, and I’m glad such a mode exists since I was able to relax and enjoy the story and strategy aspects much more.
It's a JRPG/TRPG with XCOM style gameplay and not the other way around. Don't go into this expecting a 1:1 XCOM clone. The two more important note for getting into Troubleshooter is: The start of the game can feel a bit of a slow buildup for some people and the other is TWEAK YOUR DIFFICULTY. I heard everything: that the game is too easy or too hard. I would say it's a bit easy at the start but ramps up slowly. HOWEVER you can change the difficulty settings at any time and with like 6 main difficulty levels and PLENTY of optional settings you can tailor it to your taste. If you give this game time to show it's strenghts you will find a great strategy game with one of the best character building systems i've ever seen, with ARPG style loot drops a pretty good story (altough it might be hard to follow all the branches of it) and likeable characters. After completing this game 2 times and once 100%ing it, i can only recommend it to any TRPG/JRPG fans that don't mind a slow buildup. It dethroned XCOM 1-2 as my top game for the genre and i love XCOM. It's still a bit of a hidden gem despite more and more people seem to notice it. I have a feeling that Troubleshooter will be a well known series in the future and i wish nothing but the best to the dev team.
I was in a struggle to give a thumb down in protest but then I reconsidered as this game is really fantastic: well designed, beautifully drawn and worth every penny you would have spent on acquiring it. It is incredible, borderline unbelievable that this game was created by people you could fit into a studio flat. The whole credits would fit on an A4 sheet with like an 18 point font :) I have played like 320 hours and I only finished the game once, so we need to say it is definitely not respecting your time. The story unravels really, painstakingly slowly and even though the world itself the devs conjured up is really fascinating and interesting with a lot of possibilities the story-telling and writing work is really subpar. The game is unapologetically Korean and the English translation is varying from "it's okay" through "meh" and all the way to "painfully bad". The only way to understand the storyline is to suffer through the long and honestly a lot of the time fairly uninspiring and uninteresting cutscenes which only have the one redeeming quality of having amazingly well-drawn illustrations following. The graphics, animations and especially the character design is amazing. The mastery system is frankly remarkable and gives a lot of customization capabilities to the current 12 characters (and 36 different classes they can hold in total). Some aspects of the game are just simply way too grindy: acquiring skills, XP, crafting materials take way too much time. If you do not have the 300+ hours to invest here, don't even start, you will not be able to finish... Less than 3% of the players ever completed the story of the (currently) last DLC (The Crimson Crow) and aside from the time investment needed there is another reason for it: difficulty in the endgame of this last DLC gets simply out of control. I consider myself a good (but not excellent) player when it comes to tactical shooters and I like a good challenge but playing the game all the way on normal difficulty, I was not able to beat the final level and had to lower the difficulty to "Story" (lowest) just to be able to complete it to see the ending which was really a letdown after investing this much time into the game. There is a new DLC in development but I will not go further with the story unless there is serious effort put into rebalancing the difficulty of the endgame and making the mastery system and crafting a lot less grindy. Final verdict: recommended, with all the caveats described above.
