Complete Review
In this review I have a play time of -+ 302 hours and it's still fun to play, which I think is enough to review this game thoroughly. Please note that this is a game with the lot of DLC, there could be differences with the non DLC content.
Multiple Choice Review (Part 1)
Graphics ☐ Masterpiece ☐ Beautiful ☑ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Bad ☐ Don‘t look too long at it ☐ MS-DOS
Compare with Train Sim World®, Trainz Very far from a graphical perspective, in terms of reality and the physics they provide.
Gameplay ☐ Very good ☑ Good ☐ It's just gameplay ☐ Mehh ☐ Watch paint dry instead ☐ Just don't
I really enjoy playing this game, but in some aspects such as running the train through the missing cabins and the POV of the passenger cars, many of them are bad and poorly placed.
Audio ☐ Eargasm ☐ Very good ☑ Good ☐ Not too bad ☐ Bad ☐ I'm now deaf
There are some sound effects that are broken, and have very big, and small sounds, and some effects are generic and don't match the sound of the original train
Audience ☑ Kids ☑ Teens ☑ Adults ☑ Grandma
Considering that in this game we can just be a train user or become a map maker for the train, the audience playing this game is very wide
PC Requirements ☐ Check if you can run paint ☐ Potato ☐ Decent ☐ Fast ☑ Rich boi ☐ Ask NASA if they have a spare computer
I have a pretty good computer or laptop, but the game optimization is very bad, I play RTX 3050 only get 30Fps which the game is from 2019, very unreasonable
Difficulty ☐ Just press 'W' ☑ Easy ☐ Easy to learn / Hard to master ☐ Significant brain usage ☐ Difficult ☐ Dark Souls
From this point of view, you can train as a machinist, it will be much more difficult when you learn how difficult it is to make maps professionally based on reality and create dynamic ground contours, you can learn from DLC maps to make realistic maps
Gameplay Time ☐ Long enough for a cup of coffee (0 - 3 hours) ☐ Short (3 - 15 hours) ☐ Average (15-50 hours) ☐ Long (50-100 hours) ☐ Extremely long (100-200 hours) ☑ To infinity and beyond
This game really takes you, depending on your creativity as a player, I myself spent a lot of time modifying the DLC map which used to be 1 lane into 2 lanes, and spent hundreds of hours on it.
Fun ☐ I'd rather watch paint dry ☐ Hard to enjoy ☐ Repetitive ☐ Actually pretty amusing ☑ Ride of your life
This game is from my childhood, it has a time period depending on your imagination and thinking, considering that this game is a sandbox you can do whatever you like, for example you think hard about how to maximize the rail which should have a maximum speed of 150KMph to 400KMph with various train speeds without having to experience bottlenecks, I think that's very exciting.
Price ☐ It's free! ☐ Worth the price (If you rich) ☐ If it's on sale (If you don’t have lot of money) ☑ Buy only on sale ☐ If u have some spare money left ☐ Not recommended ☐ You could also just burn your money
Considering that developers are very greedy like EA, where the content should already be one unit, they break the content into DLC, I recommend that you buy in packages (packs) and of course during the winter sale and summer sale discounts!
Bugs ☐ Never heard of ☐ Minor bugs ☑ Can get annoying ☐ Cyberpunk 2077 V1.0 (First day release) ☐ The game itself is a big terrarium for bugs
Yes, there are lots of bugs in this game, I really hate it, the developer is bad at solving these problems and keeps making very expensive DLC, problems like strange sounds, force close when the train speed is between 90-99 KMph and so on, this game like it was abandoned by the developer
Replayability ☐ It's a one-time experience ☐ Only for achievements ☐ If you wait a few months/years ☑ Definitely ☑ Infinitely replayable (Because multiverse purpose)
If you are a maker of interesting maps and sessions, you can play this game as much and as much as you like according to your imagination.

Explanation Pros & Cons (Part 2)
Pros, you must buy this game • If you love trains from all over the world, this is a recommended game to satisfy your desire to become a train driver, with a large selection of trains (must buy DLC) and several maps that are fun to play (paid). Cons, dont buy this game • This game and DLC are very expensive, and combined I recommend buying Cyberpunk 2077, Age of Empire, Rise of Nation, Hogwarts Legacy or Baldur Gate 3, it is recommended that you buy this game only during the winter or summer sale, the normal price is very not worth it! • Many bugs have a lot of impact on your playing comfort, it will make you uncomfortable when you play, I recommend you to buy the latest version which I and a modder put RTX effects into the game and provide extraordinary graphics and very bad optimization. • I also remind greedy developers, a lot of DLC is recycled from the 2016 or 2023 TrainZ version, which they released the same, which I assume that the engine and game they offer from many versions are the same, this is a problem, that is the reason I prefer choose the 2019 version rather than the 2023 because it is much cheaper
Conclusion (Part 3)

My Final Rating
6.8/10 Very bad game, I recommend it for those of you who played this as a child and want to express your creativity, and it's not worth it for the normal price but yes for the discounted price. My recomendation pack: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/13976/TRS19_Mega_Content_Pack/ https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/9886/TANE_Platinum_Pack_for_TRS19/

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Like other guys said, just play Trainz:A New Era instead, or better (arguably) Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006, heck even TRS 2009 is a-okay compared to this crashy and bug-laden game. Also couldnt get refunded by Steam because it take too long to download the contents and built the dependencies past the time limit for refund.

Disclaimer: This review focuses on the current state of the community's modding pipeline. It is not an attack on the artistic talent within the community, but a realistic look at the technical frustration new players will face. Where do I begin with this one? The core mechanics of Trainz 2019 are great, and building your own routes is highly satisfying. However, the modding pipeline is stuck in the early 2000s. A good example would be Sodor Workshops with their various Thomas & Friends mods for said game. While the models themselves are spectacular in design, what isn't okay is how the site is managed and upon downloading a simple google drive with the .cdp files and dropping it via the content manager, it's mostly errors and missing dependencies because Sodor Workshops models are custom-built, they require very specific external files to render but no matter what method of troubleshooting you use; there still wouldn't be any major changes and there is a major reason as to why. You see, third-party content creators heavily gatekeep and poorly organize essential dependency files, forcing you to hunt down obscure KUID numbers across dead forums or private Discord servers just to load a single train. It shouldn't require an IT degree and an inner-circle invitation to use community mods. Keeping files hidden or broken doesn't protect the creators' work; it just kills off interest in the game. There is a 'Snowball' effect to this whole thing. Many of the prominent Thomas content creators have been playing Trainz for 10 to 15 years. Over a decade, they have accumulated thousands of legacy dependency packs from dead websites, old forums, and defunct creator groups. To them it is no hassle when they download a new model as they already have the decade old assets all along but the same cannot be said to newer players unassociated from said groups. It's almost as if they expect new players to know this, they don't what KUID numbers are, and they most certainly don't know what dependencies are.. It's devastating and frustrating. I've said what I needed to say. A part of me feels bad to those who are modelers. The community has brilliant artists who put immense love and dedication when it comes to Thomas & Friends, matching the TV show and respecting Reverend Awdry's work. It is just deeply sad to see such incredible craftsmanship dragged down by a toxic, broken ecosystem. If you buy this, stick strictly to the built-in assets, or do what I did and move on to modern games like Rolling Line that actually respect the player's time. Don't consider joining these groups as they are heavily reliant on "who you know." Even if you do ask for help in the assistance channels of their Discord servers, you'll most likely be ignored like how I was. I wish the Trainz community the best of luck in recovering from all of this..
missing dependencies.. that's all i have to say
