Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is an action RPG with Soulslike elements, a beautiful Greek-inspired world, fun combat and surprisingly interesting lore. Its atmosphere, weapon variety and great visuals make it a worthwhile adventure. A great choice for players looking for a more approachable Soulslike experience with a stronger focus on story and exploration. P.S.: I couldn't change the FPS cap in-game or through NVIDIA Control Panel. P.S.2: I thought there was a brightness issue at first then 5 minutes later I was given an item called glimmer/light that solves it.😆 You can always change the gamma in-game. P.S.3: I had to keep my own notes because the in-game journal was not helpful. For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. This game is okay. I don't know what the developers were thinking when they decided to go in on the soulslike aspect of it, because it honestly just takes away from the enjoyment of the game. It's not a difficult game, it's just tedious. The story isn't all that interesting and is presented in a way that is either "lore dump" or needlessly cryptic. It's trying to do too many things. There's a fun game in here. Weapon switching and magical powers feel good, the character movement is solid and chunky, and I like the way Hilda interacts with the world. It's all just overshadowed by this awful soulslike wannabe coating that strips all the fun away from what could've been a cool experience. I'm only marking "recommend" because I can't say that I'm going to stop playing it. I'd honestly recommend picking it up if you want to experience what a talented team of developers can do on the indie front. I want them to make more games, but just try focusing on one core mechanic next time.

Only 61% of players have the achievement for defeating the tutorial crocodile boss. That alone says a lot about this game's inability to hook people. I've tried starting this game three separate times, and every attempt ends the same way. I reach the first major shanty-town area and immediately lose all interest. It's baffling that the developers marketed a vibrant world inspired by the best of classical Greek and Roman architecture, only to force you through their own ♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of Blighttown first and without access to a ranged weapon. This miserable opening mission is mandatory, and consists of an ugly desert shanty town accessed through a sewer, packed with ranged enemies that gank you with impunity while you fight ground-based ganks; and all before you've been given a ranged weapon or throwables to fight back and even the odds. You can sprint past everything like in most Souls-likes, but that should be on replay runs or after you've learned the area, not on your first time through. I just can't seem to force myself through those opening hours when there's dozens of better games to play. This time, I won't uninstall, and I'll give it another shot later, because I think there's potential. I ever escape that awful first area, I'll come back and update this review. For now, I cannot recommend this game.
TL:DR Overall, this game feels like a labor of love that was mislabeled "Souls," which resulted in it getting lost in a sea of similar titles that fall short of that claim. This game is good for what it is, which feels more like an indie God of War or a Wayfinder. Still, I would recommend the game, though I think it would have been better priced at $20/25 - Longer: I feel like I can safely recommend this game after 4 hours, not knowing how long it is or where it's going, because it feels very much like I'll be doing this same thing for as long as that is, and that's fine. It's not bad, It isn't Dark Souls It isn't God of War It isn't Castlevania It's God of war combat with stamina and bonfires in a kind of Metroid world It has difficulties, as well as equipables that make it harder. You choose 2 of 6 weapons that you like, and you'll be sticking to them. Otherwise you'll be grinding for materials to upgrade the new one that you pick. The weapons are varied, and feel unique from one another, but it's combo-based like God of War, and that can lead to awkward distance & targeting. The combat feels fine and well paced. Encounters are a little on the easy side, unless they are very hard. There is little inbetween. Much like Dark Souls, you can kite enemies away from each other and abuse their leashing, which adds a layer of strategy or cheesery for harder fights, but that's for you to decide. the "platforming" is trash, but that's because it always is in games like these. I haven't found a section that *required* platforming, and I hope there isn't one. Otherwise, exploration is good. Plenty of paths to wander that sometimes loop back on themselves unnecessarily to zones you have completed, but that also adds to the inconnected nature of the world, even if you will *never* use them. Skill Tree is full of cool abilities to use Attributes feel tacked on. 3 attributes, but really 2 attributes, because you are always going to want *some* Health, and then you're going to pick between Skill damage and Normal attack damage. Story is there, I haven't been reading, listening, or watching it, so I can't comment on that, but I don't really play these games for the story anymore - maybe 5/10 - average - right down the middle But that's mostly because I think my 5 is an IGN 7 lol
Asterigos: Curse of the Stars could be called a Souls Lite, a game with soulslike mechanics but also with difficulty levels, lots of health and other items, and combat that's challenging in places but never frustrating, although the difficulty ramps up quite a bit in the second half of the game. The combat is well-designed and effective. You can equip two weapons and you have a variety of regular and magic weapons right from the start. Each type of weapon has it's own special attack and as you progress you can move up the skill tree and pick up more special attacks for your chosen weapons, and you can collect crafting materials for upgrades. You can also put points nto a variety of attributes like health and attack. This all makes for a highly customizable playstyle. The world building is good, with interesting and diverse levels. The story is complex and the lore is deep, and this is arguably one of the games rough edges, dialogue scenes are frequent and often lengthy and tedious. You also have all kinds of written material to collect, as well as "Echos", ghostly visions of the past. It becomes very difficult to keep track of everybody and all the backstory, but you certainly can't say they haven't attempted to tell a genuinely deep story, even if the ultimate result is a little uneven. Asterigos is a good game if you don't go into it with unrealistic epectations and just take it for what it is. I did a fair amount of exploration and side quests and got a satisfying 50 hours out of it, with the possibility of a harder NG+ remaining. I'm happy with the time I spent on it and happy to recommend it.
It's a playable experience, but merely adequate for the most part. I feel like leaving some feedback as to why I feel like that: - The combat feels a little floaty: your weapon attacks feel slow (even using the more agile weapons), and many enemies have movesets that can barely hurt the player properly, as their attacks lack more aggressive hitboxes and better tracking. This makes the game rather reasy even on the hardest setting. - The level design's not awful, but suffers at times from copypasted design that makes navigating levels counter-intuitive. When you play FromSoftware games, for the most part every corner of their levels is distinctive enough as to help the player make a proper mental map of them and navigate them properly. This makes for a more fun experience. - The story is presented with a LOT of constant dialogue. Some people might prefer things this way, but to me a Souls-like is at its best when they keep it to a minimum and let you discover things about the setting through envorinmental storytelling or item descriptions and the like. I can't entirely recommend this game, but you can see the care it was made with shine through a couple times, and perhaps with more experience the devs could do better.
I like hard games but here after 10 hours I don't like the gameplay, I don't like the art, I don't like the level design, I don't like the music, I don't like the writing and I don't like the main character. It's definitely not for me. It's not boring imo, it's totally alien.
