For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

Bad voice acting and cringy dialogue topped off with boring and clunky combat that doesn't show any sign of improvement and bad level design. The only thing praiseworthy about this game and remaster is the aesthetic and that isn't enough to carry this game. I know the original games and this remaster were developed by 3 people but I can't recommend it unless maybe you are an Anima fan which I am not and this was my first experience with anything related to it. Should've changed a lot in the gameplay department and revoiced/revised some lines instead of only being a graphical update to justify these remasters.
A truly underrated hidden gem that deserve more love and support

The remaster is...very disappointing. I played the first version back in 2017 and I loved it, especially it was the first game I played. After 8 years there are barely any improvements at all...and everything is just poorly designed with modern standard...
All I can say about this game is that its a hidden gem and its also one of the best remasters out there. This game is also optimized really well cant really say that about games these days. Finally went ahead and put a review video of this game go ahead and check it out if you want more of a in-depth review for the game. No idea how long it takes for it to upload to steam thoe so if you want you can just watch it on youtube search for Cannedsilly.
It's a shame the art style and direction and the soundtrack are really good, because the necessary conditions for a game to be good, the gameplay and narrative, are deeply unremarkable. The voice acting is astoundingly bad, but that could be set aside of what was actually going on in the plot was clear and compelling, instead of vague, mysterious nonsense. Because Dark Souls ruined video games, now every character always has to speak in oblique gibberish and we can never just have a clear futtbucking goal to achieve and direction to go for which to achieve it. And this "puzzling it out" exploration kind of gimmick could work IF the level design and combat were markedly above average. Unfortunately, those are both also extremely average. The level design feels like a rough sketch of an idea for Zelda dungeons, back when Zelda was good, before being filled in with more meat and mechanics to make it COMPLETE, only they never filled it in, so you're getting the demo version. The combat also kind of feels like foundation of something that could be built upon, but they never built upon it, and a foundation is just a hole in the bloody ground. So the end result is wandering around barely distinguishable hallways while just smacking whatever is in front of you, and I am underselling how rote this feels. Considering just how low the bar has gotten in the last 10+ years, it's not really an actively BAD game, but there's nothing to really latch onto. I just can't imagine there's nothing else that would be a more satisfying use of your time.
《Anima Gate of Memories: I&II Remaster》作为合集,还是把游戏内容分为俩部分。
《Anima Gate of Memories: I&II Remaster》
When I heard this game was getting a remaster, I was thrilled. Not because I was a fan of the original, but because I tried to play the OG, got a game breaking bug 6 hrs in, gave up, but never let it slip from my mind. Thankfully, this version doesn't seem to have that original issue, so I played it through cover to cover! I was initially enchanted by this game's lore-- it's some really interesting and unique stuff; very dark and grim. It reminds me a lot of the Weapon Stories from Nier and Drakengard, which makes sense, as Nier is listed as one of the dev's influences in an article about the game I read. It's obvious in more than one way-- the main character of game 1 is a warrior who carries around a sassy magical grimoire who helps them in combat. The combat is also quite similar to Nier, but with a distinctive DMC flavor over the top. It's faster (especially in the 2nd game), with bonuses depending on how good you're doing. The graphics, given this game is a remaster, are what you'd expect. Flashy, stylized, and overall a pleasure to look at. Some of the characters aren't designed exactly to my taste (the bosses specifically seem out of place in an otherwise dark and grungy world), but the environs are pretty and the general enemy design is satisfactory at minimum. The changes in gameplay are also unique, with lots of camera angle shifts, oscillations between platformer and combat, and even a stealth level-- all of which performed well and didn't overstay their welcome. The puzzles were creative and not to difficult, and none of them were repeated enough times for me to get bored. I spoke about the combat before. I said it was fast and had bonuses. I didn't say it was good. The combat in this game can be... frustrating. The second game has it better, as the character moves faster and has a more synergized move-set, but the combat feels unbalanced and somehow sluggish in a lot of places. Some of the encounters also strike me as not well thought out, as the timing of their attacks aren't synced well and can lead to things like unavoidable stun-locks, being pushed off edges, and other such nonsense. There's a particular battle in game 1 near the end where two large enemies are in a room with you... the mechanic of this enemy is that if it runs into a wall, you get an opening to an attack as it gets dizzy. The bounds of the room do not reach the walls... so you can make them crash into each other, but once one is down... well... just handle it, I suppose. The first game also has what I can only describe as the Worst boss battle I have played in a game so far. It has an inverted controls move while also being a bit of a bullet hell (with those unsynced enemies I mentioned)-- there's probably an accessory that nullifies statuses, but I managed to kill it on my first try regardless. It's not about the difficulty, it's about the amount of annoyance I felt while playing. The English dub of this game is Horrific. Play with the voices muted. The second game is slightly better but even so, it's clearly an amateur job. The story is intriguing and I would like to know more about the world, and I am looking forward to the next game in this universe. I might even try to get my hands on the TTRPG, though I think it might be hard to come across in the wild. Look up the dev's story about this game... it's a bit heartbreaking, and it's a miracle that this project exists at all. I wish massive success upon the team-- they've been through it!
Interesting game with nice combat system and intriguing story set in niche TTRPG system. Lots of little improvements compared to original. Give it a try if you like similar action focused RPGs and maybe you find something for yourself.
