Tiny Bookshop

Genuinely one of the best games I've ever played! It's the kind of game you want to play on a rainy day, with a blanket and a cup of tea somewhere near. The game has the right amount of challenge and chill, I'd say a defining feature of a cozy game. The art style is absolutely stunning, almost nostalgic. The bookstore management and the recommendation system are done perfectly, and additionally, you can learn a thing or two about some books included in the game. I highly recommend this game to anyone who has ever dreamt of having a tiny bookshop on their own, it's perfect!

Could this game GET any more charming? I wholly recommend it if you're in the mood for a low-stakes literary-themed shopkeeping sim. It's pretty customizable, and I enjoy the recurring NPCs you get to know. (Most of them. Harper annoys me a little, haha.)

Highly recommended: Easy to sink a lot of hours into. The perfect relaxing game for bibliophiles and people who enjoy management games that don't have tons of frantic things needing to be done. Pros: A charming cozy game about books! Real life books are used, as well as some fictional ones specific to the setting. Recommend titles based on what people are looking for and decorate your bookshop to gain bonus effects! There are quests to complete and lots of places to set your mobile shop up with weekly and seasonal events that make a difference as to what will and won't sell. It's surprisingly complex and has great summaries for the books included. Bibliophiles will recognize lots of the titles, but you might find your next read in here too! Nice portrayals and inclusion of diverse characters and novels about diverse characters! Cons: (They're more just qol things that are minor) The requirements for some of the recommendations aren't always accurate (some titles may meet the requirements irl but not in the game for some reason?). There aren't a lot of instructions for the cases (mysteries you can solve in the town). Make sure to equip anything having to do with the case in order to progress. You have to buy out the seasonal items in the newspaper in order to make them cycle. This is the only way to get some of the bookshelves to appear. Otherwise you'll be unable to fill your shop and make more money early on. For some reason, the game will penalize you if you have 100 or more books in your shop at a time (actually on shelves for sale, not in your inventory). This also means that picking up books in locations where they can be gathered off the ground may put you over that 100 limit. Be careful! The decoration menu is harder to navigate with a touchpad mouse than with a wheel mouse. It's difficult to scroll with the touchpad, even with gestures turned on. New items always appear at the bottom of the lists, regardless of the category so you have to find a way to scroll the list without a scrollbar.
