If you are OK with timid DEI advocacy and some "listen to my problems / do this and do that / listen kiddo, in my days..." dialogues, the rest is really charming and cool. Visually it's perfect in my opinion: graphics are just what you need to get hooked in, it's beautifully colored, the visual style is cute, there are varieties of clients with different outfits accordingly to the weather, the game's simple as a point & click but there are some animations here and there if you click everywhere, and the music's alright. I salute the idea of making a game design centered around selling books ; thanks to the game I had noted a few titles that I'm gonna read for real, and I believe part of the intention behind Tiny Book Shop was precisely to make people get interested in reading. I regret that for "some" reason the book database lack some obvious series, (like I have seen many Asimov but not a single Lovecraft, just to cite one author - not gonna say that I know why, I'm not an expert of any sort to argue), while in the contrary I found perhaps too many "specific" items that belong to the very trendy and modern Woke culture. Fortunately (lol) you're not gonna be forced to read any of those books, and to be honest my review wouldn't be set as Positive if they were. They're just here to fill a gameplay mechanic of "modern philosophy / social battles" needs for the clients, and it's just a category among others, so that's why I don't think it's a big deal so I give those a pass. The storyline is okay so far, really cosy indeed for the most part. Though everyone seem very welcoming in the beginning, some chars turn out to become not so friendly - in the sense that they'll try to make you do chores ("missions" lol) almost without your consent. Socially speaking some of the dialogues even had me raise an eyebrow and I can say that there's two characters I simply stopped caring about and hated to have interactions with due to their insufferable personalities. Which isn't a bad point, I mean it's just a videogame and I was amused in the meantime (it takes more than a fictional character to make me angry lol). But get ready to get lectured or even tested by some of them. I liked the customization system, and I think that's the part I enjoyed the most in this game. The fact there were several "stores" to discover through the map was a good point. Though, I wish there was a place where I could buy books from a specific category other than in the newspaper (even just if it was only a handful), because I ran out of Travel genre for several days straight and I could do nothing about it but praise the RNG. Some reviewers said that the recommendation system lacks some clarity and I agree on that, even though with hit-and-miss and experience you will fail less often because there's not so much titles to remember. It's a chill game so there isn't straightly punitive game mechanics. Also, note that it's not mandatory to have read any book to play, it's just that you'll take longer to fail less often, but honestly the worst that could happen to you is wanting to read one of those books for real. In that case, be curious and just do it!
