About
In a world where mysterious plants are spreading all over the earth, emitting toxic spores as they grow, a small group of survivors seeks shelter on the back of a giant, wandering creature they call 'Onbu'.
Become their leader, build their settlement and form a symbiotic relationship with Onbu to survive together in this hostile, yet beautiful post-apocalyptic world.
A functioning village is the basis of your survival. Build your settlement and expand it over Onbu’s back. Plan production chains and optimise them to utilise the limited space as efficiently as possible. Create a society that can overcome any challenge.
Living on the back of another organism comes with its own set of challenges. Will you live in symbiosis, bond with Onbu and survive on mutual trust? Or will you become a parasite, only aiming to ensure a better life for your villagers? The choice is yours.
Continuously adapt your village as you travel through a multitude of different biomes, each with its unique climate zones, opportunities and threats. Scout your environments and send out foraging missions to gather rare resources and ancient artefacts.
Remnants of the old world hold knowledge that has long been forgotten, but can be unearthed by your villagers. Find and research these technologies, but use them wisely, as progress can be a double-edged sword.
Ensure the survival of both your villagers and your Onbu, even though poisonous spores, merciless weather, bloodsucking parasites and many more challenges mean that the odds are often stacked against you.

Reviews
Interesting town building/management sim, light version of it rather, with a lot more way to go in terms of depth & actual management, but it really has a very charming heart to it. Tech tree and progressions are still rather simple, which might be good for newcomers to the genre, and more serious players might appreciate the break from more involved games, but personally I don't see much to continue from past completing the main story. Still, a good game to get, lots of charm to it with the blend of 2D & 3D art, with clear homages to the Studio Ghibli style and narratives. Looking forward to seeing how they can expand the universe for sure.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Points positifs :
At the moment of writing this review I have 6 hours on record, that being said I still feel like I can see where the rest of this game is going even if I've only just reached the midgame. I believe this game compels you to complete multiple runs based on the difficulties provided at the beginning for your playthrough and the possible achievements, which I find unimaginable considering the middling depth that the gameplay provides. I can't imagine much variation between towns in different runs besides becoming cultists or not, and from what I've seen so far in the knowledge tree the cult route doesn't provide much depth either. It's an alright colony sim, but the selling point of the game is of course the Onbu and the Wandering part of Wandering Village. Onbu is amazing, the creature design is amazing and I am very fond of this giant moving mountain. I even debated buying some Onbu skins in my first hour of gameplay. I cannot however say the same about the Onbu mechanics. The trust system is totally jank and functions off of an invisible modifier that seems to reassign itself at random, and the novelty of choosing where to go and managing your Onbu's health, sleepiness, and hunger wears off when you realize that this mechanic absolutely does not need your input as a player to function. I find myself just letting the Onbu going where it wants, occasionally trying to choose a path at a crossroads and being denied for absolutely no reason, and petting it when I can. Otherwise the Onbu is just a self sustaining ecosystem and I found myself scarcely zooming out of the village view- as said before, the gameplay of which leaves much to be desired. All of these complaints also apply to the biomes which go hand in hand with the moving village concept. When I enter a new biome after my first encounters with each I don't feel tense, excited, or anything for that matter. However, I could forgive all of these grievances if the game's story was compelling. I'm sad to say that unfortunately, it is not. I can't say that I grew attached to any of the characters provided in any way and I found the story beats I experienced so far strange and mistimed. The world building is shallow, for a world plunged into despair at the hands of an airborne spore virus said virus has minimal impact on the gameplay or story. The flaccid narrative experience paired with the (admittedly more of a personal grievance) ghibli wannabe art style just dissolves all charm that this game might have had for me. I would've much preferred if the game tried to go in its own art direction instead of presenting all the cutscenes and sprites in a studio ghibli rip-off art style. This ultimately gives me no drive to play through the mediocre management: I don't want to see these people and I'm not excited at all about what might happen next in the story. Frankly it doesn't seem like anything is going to happen next in the story. With everything being said the game is okay. It just isn't as good as other colony sims, and the aspects that try to set it apart fall flat in my opinion. I am personally supremely disappointed with how fast the charm dissolved for me over the course of playing this game. My biggest gripe: I have no motivation to play the game because the story is not compelling. Please get these skinwalker, soulless ghibli look-alikes off my Onbu.
I wanted to like this game, but it's just too slow. The tutorial is just annoying as all hell. I am a fan of the genre, but can't help but not recommend this to anyone. Too cozy maybe?
Amazing game. I remember playing this game before the full version released - it was clearly unfinished and felt a little empty, but even still, I loved the game then. When I heard that the full version had released I bought it right away. Immediately, you're greeted with a beautiful, Ghibli-style animation of an onbu city. In the days of mass-produced AI it was so refreshing to see a beautiful animation by real people. The visuals, in my opinion, are incredibly charming. It's a mix of 3d environments with 2d buildings and characters, and everything is given so much love and detail. I especially love the onbu, he's adorable. Even if it's not realistic, it doesn't need to be. The style is wonderful. The concept is super cool as well. You're building a village that travels on top of a giant dinosaur's back, and you must form a relationship with him in order to survive. The main threat is a poisonous species of fungus that grows more prevalent throughout the game. As for the story, from what I've played it's made with love and thought. It helps tie the game together excellently. I played before the story was implemented and I love it so far. As for the gameplay, it seems simple enough. There's been plenty of civilization builders, but this one stands out in it's concept of a constantly changing environment and forming a symbiotic relationship with your dinosaur buddy. My only complaint is it can sometimes get a little same-y. Overall this game is phenomenal. If you like civilization builders, definitely give this game a try. onbu my beloved
