The Walking Dead: The Final Season is absolutely incredible and, in my opinion, might even be the best season in the entire series; it’s amazing to see Clementine finally taking on the role of a mother for AJ, guiding him, protecting him from danger, and teaching him to survive, just as Lee protected and taught her, and watching her grow into this role while still staying true to her character is both emotional and inspiring, with the story doing an incredible job of showing her struggles, her determination, and the love she has for AJ, which makes every choice and interaction feel meaningful and heartfelt. The characters in this season are all fantastic; [spoiler]seeing familiar faces like Lilly was completely unexpected but extremely satisfying[/spoiler], and the new characters introduced are just as compelling, each feeling real with their own motivations, flaws, and personalities, while the interactions between them add so much depth and emotion to the story, and the voice acting, writing, and animation are all top-notch, making the experience feel truly cinematic at times. The ending completely hit me emotionally; it genuinely made me cry, and I did not see it coming, as it was powerful, heartbreaking, and the perfect conclusion to Clementine’s journey as a character, and I honestly thought we might never get another game after everything that happened with Telltale following 2018, which makes this season even more special and rewarding. One thing I need to say is that I do not accept the comic books that were written as canon to show Clementine and AJ’s life after the game ends; to me, they are the worst thing I’ve seen and make no sense at all because Clementine would never act like that, and the game’s ending tells a complete and satisfying story, with nothing outside of it able to improve or replace what Telltale created. Overall, The Final Season is a masterpiece of storytelling, character development, and emotion; Clementine’s growth, her bond with AJ, the incredible cast, and the unforgettable ending all make it a highlight of the entire series and a shining example of what makes Telltale games so special, Clementine mourned Lee longer than she ever knew him, and this story will remain for me as one of the best franchises ever.
