Download the mod "TWD Slaughter" from Nexusmods.com to fix all the bad weapons in the base game.
Totally underrated gem, especially if you're a fan of TWD. I've had both Saints and Sinners games on my Quest 2 for sometime now and every time I've tried to play it, I could never get into it. The melee combat and gunplay in Onslaught is superior, the zombies move and look better and are far more unsettling. It's got characters you know and love. I like the the story mode with Darryl, even though you can beat the story in less than 8 hours, It's a VR game, I don't expect to be standing here through a 30 hour campaign. Although it would have been nice if it was a much longer game. It does have replay value in the scavenging runs. The gameplay is pretty good for a quick pick me up, I enjoy doing the scavenging runs, the combat is frantic, and keeps you on your toes, forcing you to make quick decisions because of the horde that keeps moving your direction. Swinging melee weapons and taking out walkers with your guns is more on the casual side compared to Saints, but that's not a bad thing. Sometimes simple is good. You don't have a stamina meter in this game like in Saints (which made the game frustrating and not fun imo). It's VR action, you are constantly bending down to pick up items, dodging, swinging your arms IRL, you don't need an in-game stamina meter to tell you when you're tired. I play this partly as a way to burn calories and get my cardio in for the day and it's a fun way to do so. I will even do extra movements to get more of a workout, like when you bash open a door in this game, IRL I will be using my shoulders like I'm breaking down the door and it just translates beautifully in VR, it's so fun to do and immersive. It's not perfect by any means, there is definitely room for improvement. They could have expanded Alexandria where you can explore the town more, add more survival mechanics like gardening, even make it more open like Saints. It would have been awesome if you could have had the ability to travel to Hilltop and play as Maggie, Jesus, Tara. But this is still a very enjoyable game as is. The fact that this game has as much negative reviews as TWD Destinies (which really is terrible) is a travesty. This is the best Walking Dead game that isn't Telltale. Rating: 7/10

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Aug 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The Walking Dead Onslaught is a VR action game built around close-quarters combat, scavenging, and short mission loops set in the universe of the television series. It focuses on delivering an immersive first-person experience where players fight through zombie-infested environments while gathering resources to support the settlement of Alexandria. The structure prioritizes repeated excursions rather than a linear, story-heavy campaign. The narrative is framed by conversations between key characters such as Daryl and Rick, using voiced sequences to anchor the missions within the TV show’s continuity. While the story content is limited, it provides context for the scavenging loops and helps establish the game’s overarching theme of rebuilding in a hostile world. The writing is functional, relying on familiar personalities to maintain connection to the source material. Combat is centered on melee encounters, weapon reach, and physical interaction with walkers. Weapons such as knives, axes, and improvised tools require deliberate swings and positioning, giving each strike tangible weight. Firearms exist but are used sparingly due to scarcity of ammunition. The emphasis on physical engagement aims to heighten tension, though the hit detection and collision can feel inconsistent in some encounters. Scavenging missions form the core gameplay. Players sprint through collapsing streets, stores, and alleyways while collecting supplies before being overwhelmed by increasing hordes. This mode adopts an arcade-like structure where efficiency and route planning determine success. The design encourages repeated runs to secure better resources, though the environments can feel repetitive after several cycles. Settlement progression in Alexandria offers a sense of long-term development. Collected materials are used to upgrade facilities, unlock new equipment, and improve character capabilities. This system provides motivation for continued scavenging but remains relatively simple, serving more as a layer of structure than a fully developed management component. Presentation relies on detailed environments and recognizable character models, though fidelity varies depending on the platform. Sound design, including walker groans and weapon impacts, helps maintain immersion and supports the tension during close encounters. Voice performances from actors associated with the show reinforce the game’s connection to the broader franchise. The Walking Dead Onslaught delivers a VR experience built around physical combat and resource runs, offering moments of intensity and immersion. Its strengths lie in atmospheric encounters and recognizable characters, while its limitations stem from repetition and mechanical inconsistencies. For players looking for a focused VR action title set within The Walking Dead universe, it provides a compact and serviceable interpretation of the world.
10 hrs on record (100% completion) More of an arcade take on The Walking Dead. The story’s the highlight, with TV show characters carrying the experience, but missions are short and linear. I used the hammer because I’d seen it was the best tool, and it really is. Despite the simplicity, treating it as a quick VR apocalypse run rather than a deep survival sim makes it enjoyable enough. TL;DR: Shallow but fun. A short, story-driven VR spin that’s worth a one-time play. (6/10)

Fun game, I got it because it was on sale but its not worth the full price, however it is worth on sale as it is similar to the saints and sinners now that game is worth more
fun af, i get to go crazy with ricks colt python and daryl's storys really run to play
It could be good, but it feels catastrophically bad. I don't know why, but no matter what settings I try, the game's visuals look smudgy and distorted. My PC isn't weak, and my Quest 3 isn't the issue either, so I really don't know what's causing it. At this point, I don't know what to blame.
Status: 100% Beaten on Veteran Difficulty (Alexandria Complete) I purchased the game on sale and didn’t think I’d get one of the best The Walking Dead games. It has A TON of serious and game-breaking bugs that will never be fixed, but the experience the game offers overpowers all the bugs. It’s very addicting and the combat is done right - the impact, the sounds, the animations, all of them are great. I’d say this is a game made by fans for fans, it’s low budget, but the budget was well spent. I’m a huge fan of the franchise (watched all the episodes) and developers definitely respected the source material, it’s not a cashgrab. BUT, about the bugs. First of all, when you play via Steam Link, it disconnects you every 5-10 minutes, leaving you vulnerable to zombies. Many times I died because of that, it’s VERY frustrating. Second, the left arm tends to get stuck in the air and you need to wait for it to get unstuck, also a frustrating experience, because you can grab items only using it. There are also zombies just disappearing or getting invincible. Despite all that, I wanted to get back to the game every time, because the gameplay is that cool, both campaign and scavenging missions. The game succeeds in making you feel that dread of getting all the supplies fast while running from zombies and killing them, not getting hurt. The game has a big red line Horde that eats away the whole level and your task is to get as many supplies and get back to the base. By getting supplies and accepting new people you upgrade the base. Exactly what survival in the series was all about. Definitely recommended not just to fans, but to those looking for a good zombie VR game.
