Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.71/day in the week to Sep 12 → 4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's the same as all the other ones. Place shelf Put product on shelf Set price of product Click product at counter Click buttons to give change As with all of them you don't need to work out the change, you don't need to know market trends, you don't have to strategically place your products for visibility. NPCs will just come and buy every book you have, sometimes doubles. No interaction other than sales, lifeless animations. More slop for the slop god.
I REALLY wanted to like this game, but I feel like whoever designed it has never been inside a bookstore, let alone run one. I know it is a game, and I know it is in Early Access, but I genuinely thought it would offer a completely different experience and go in a much more interesting direction. Here are the things that bothered me: 1. Customers buy around 20 books at a time, sometimes taking four or five copies of the exact same book. 2. You restock the shelves in the morning, and by noon every single shelf is empty. 3. Customers come in endlessly. There is no natural flow, no quiet period, and no rhythm to the day. 4. The customers feel completely lifeless. They do not ask questions, make comments, request recommendations, or look for anything specific. They simply walk around the store and grab two of everything as though they were shopping for vegetables. 5. There are no visible preferences or buying patterns. Every customer seems to like every genre. It feels less like a bookstore and more like someone entering their favorite 7-Eleven and buying the entire inventory. 6. I thought the game would be about building a good bookstore, not running a book outlet. 7. One customer bought three new copies of the same book and then also bought another copy from the used-book shelf. 8. By the second day, I already had 4,000 coins. How did I triple my money in only two days? The economy feels incredibly unbalanced. 9. The font is enormous. The active-task display takes up a huge portion of the screen. 10. When you open a used-book box, the game shows you the contents so you can check whether there is a rare book inside. Then it packs the box again, drops it on the floor, and makes you pick it up and open it a second time. It is completely unnecessary. 11. One customer bought two rare books and eleven regular books from the store. That single sale gave me around 600 coins. 12. Where are the male customers? It simply does not feel like a bookstore. I wanted to struggle with bills and decide which new releases I could afford. I wanted to speak to customers, recommend books, help them choose between one or two titles, or convince them to try something outside their usual genre. I wanted reviews, bestseller displays, genre trends, regular customers, special orders... anything related to actually selling books. As it currently stands, the bookstore could be replaced with an outlet selling clothes, vegetables, electronics, car parts, or even trash, and the gameplay would remain exactly the same. Customers seem willing to buy everything in sight, regardless of what it is. This game’s motto is apparently: “It is on the shelf? I’LL BUY IT.”

Before I write this review, Let me say something some people don't know or understand There are 2 types of simulator games: 1. Hyper-realistic where you can manage every element to finally tune a store that takes hours to make progress in 2. A simulator that sells you the Fantasy of doing the thing you want to do. This game is the second one and it does it very well. People buy a lot of books at once and you always have foot traffic because it set a steady pacing. You can buy more stock that appears almost instantly and restock everything mid-day Cashiering is fun and easy without too much hassle. you can decorate and make the shop really yours on the cheap and easily. This game relies on you having SOME suspension of disbelief, like all videos games do If you're looking for a super real management simulator, this isn't the game for you. In fact, I don't think there is a super realistic bookstore simulator because it wouldn't be fun and would end in you failing every run for literal days worth of hours. running a niche business like a book store is difficult in a realistic setting and would force the player to be bored for literal hours at a time looking at spreadsheets with little pay off. This game has used book boxes you can buy with in-game money(Bleps) to open for rare and special edition books you can sell at a mark-up. there is also a chance for legendary books as well. This game was made to be fun and cozy, with minimal deeper management to help sell the fantasy of owning a bookshop.
I don't get the positive reviews. There is no depth to this game. 1) Buy books 2) Sell 100s of books a day and watch women buy the same book 3-4x. There is nothing else ..... well I guess you can buy a cat. It's not a bad game if you like this kind of thing. But there are a couple of book games waaaay better then this one. It's the TCG game with less. **Shrugs**
No joke. I'm a bookseller for 24 years now. I stumbled across this game by chance. Let's take a look at it. So, welcome to BOOKSHOP SIMULATOR! As I said, I've been a bookseller for 24 years. My tasks include everything there is to do in a bookstore: ordering, unpacking, handling the cash register, smiling, etc., etc., etc. So what does BOOKSHOP SIMULATOR has with my Job in common. Let´s see. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3776040848 In the beginning you start with nothing. You own a Little empty Shop and have the Dream of Building up a Little Book Empire. A good tutorial guides you from the very beginning and shows you in a few steps everything you need to know to get closer to your dream. You buy the first furniture and licenses for the first books. Yes, you read that right. Licenses. The books aren’t available from the start, you have to unlock them to be able to buy and sell them. So for example Count Dracula changes into Count Vladula. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3776041052 Open your Store and your Customers will enter your Shop. Your Job is to order Books, umpack them and sell them using a cash register. In the Beginning you have to do it by yourself. The more you sell the more you Level up and soon you are able to hire store staff. You can decide whether they stock books or work the checkout. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3776041357 But becareful, they are low Level, they are slow. They also need to Level up to become faster. Later you can expand your shop to put up more shelves and sell more. You can also open Bookstores in other places in the World for example in Tokyo. You see, I wasn't exaggerating when I said at the beginning "Book Empire". The more you Level the more you unlock for selling. Board Games, Comics, Mangas, Bookmarks, Sweets and Drinks. That’s that about the game itself. The Graphics are charming and typical Simulation Style. The Sounds are nice and the Controlls are fluid and easy to learn. You get into the game quickly. So what can i say? I have over 15 Hours now and i really enjoy the Game. It is so much Fun rising my Little Book Empire. Is it realistic? No. So many Customers handing over so many Books of the same Kind, i mean 5 Times the same book, each one for each Family member, i presume? And i order Books, and 1 second later they are in front of the Store. Man, i wish that Kind of Delivery for my shop. ^^ Anyway, the main Reason to Play it is the Fun. I totally love it running day by day in my Bookstore(s) and rising them. You know: ordering, unpacking, handling the cash register, smiling, etc., etc., etc., like in Real life. Now i do it at Work AND at home. Yay. If you want that fun, too, what are you waiting for? Thank you for reading. A low to no effort reskin of Retro Rewind - with even less features, customization, and ultimately, depth. Skip this one.
It's good. Runs on my potato PC . Good vibe type of game, not overly complicated game mechanics.
I like this game but i would not recommend until some of these bugs get fixed. I changed the color of the store door, but every time i log in from a saved file, the color of my door would go back to the default green color EVERY TIME. I recently opened the japan location, i have a stocker, cashier and a manager at my starter location so i can manage the japan site, however when i would go check on the starter location store in the middle of a work day, it would close on its own, without me closing the japan store or the starter... I fully stocked my starter location shelves, bookmarks, etc at the start of the day and open up. i would go to my japan site and manage there, then when closing time would come, i go back to the starter site and NO books or bookmarks or anything would be gone. i can't order more inventory for that site because the shelves would be the same, but the passive income would come in. im paying the stocker employee to just stand there basically...
