Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.71/day in the week to Sep 12 → 4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
I don't NOT recommend the game, but I can't strongly recommend it either. I've played for approximately 5 hours. I might play more, possibly, but I have either hit a plateau that doesn't feel worth getting past or it doesn't have the same addictive quality as Supermarket Simulator or TCG Card Shop simulator, Retro Rewind or Blind Box Simulator. I will say, the tutorial was excellent and the the used book boxes with the special books/valuable books is a nice touch. However, from what I can tell it is: buy book licenses, buy books, customers buy books, restock books, and not much strategy. There is no rhyme nor reason for what customers buy, which makes more sense in a game like Supermarket Simulator, where it makes sense to have a wide variety of things in your cart. I know very few readers that would be equally as happy picking up the Oliver Twist equivalent along with the Where the Wild Things Are equivalent along with Sarah J. Mass equivalents. People like to branch out, yes, but many stick to a genre or type of book. If there was a book recommendation option, that would be great. Or requests to stock something. This just already feels repetitive 5 hours in, in ways that other simulation games have not. (See: I have hundreds of hours in Supermarket Simulator, TCG Card Shop simulator, and almost a hundred in Retro Rewind.)

It scratches some of the typical shop simulation itches: it's fun to design a shop layout, satisfying to see stock moving, dopamine when your bank balance goes up and more items for your store unlock. The parody book covers are cleverly designed and look great. But unfortunately you quickly run into how shallow the game is. Customers seem to buy your books regardless of how high you set prices, and they will regularly buy multiple copies of each book for some reason. Customers have no personality or uniqueness. They all just stroll in and buy a random selection of books with no rhyme or reason. There are no events, no interaction with customers at all. There's not even any dialog, not even for recommendations. Customers will list exactly 3 genres they want. It doesn't feel like your shops design/prices/layout/selection/actions contribute to anything. Graphics are barebones with no AA and the lighting seems broken. All shops have a harsh colored tint which is unpleasant and the gamma seems to be off so the highlights are heavily blown. This could be something that ultimately gets fixed, perhaps after a few major updates and the game could potentially turn into something special, but it's going to take a lot of work to bring it up to spec and it remains to be seen if the developers will be able to put that much post-release work into the game.
I have played a lot of these kind of games and it is very enjoyable, excellent for the price in fact. If you have played and like games like this, you wont be disappointed. The only caveat I will say is that once you staff your shops, the game plays itself and you dont really have to do anything infact I leave it running while I do other things and come back at the close of each day to do stuff but all these style games are like that if you want them to be. I also like the fact that this game promises and doesnt appear to use AI slop.
Bad game, it has rebinding of keys but you cannot change certain things. basic ♥♥♥♥ like this should just work or not be released at all. stop making slop
I've put a lot of hours into this game but the last few updates have made it almost unplayable for me. It crashes constantly, it glitches and people disappear, it freezes and no one can move, and it's using a ridiculous amount of memory at higher levels. I don't have nearly as many problems if I, say, start over in the beginner store. But the moment I hit about level 20, everything beings falling apart. It's a shame, because I love this game. I have had a lot fun with this game. But it's about to come out of early access, and there are still major bugs in it, like for instance, the cats don't walk up stairs, they sort of just float through them. You can reach through walls to accidentally pick up a book or throw something away (this is egregiously bad in the Japan store). You can just glitch through bookcases at times. As well as QOL issues, such as the end of day hitting (enter) while trying to buy books and accidentally ending the day instead. Or accessibility features that could be included, such as the ability to make text bigger for those who have visual disabilities or dyslexia, for instance. I don't have a super beefy computer, but I can play games like Persona 5, Drain Sim, House Flipper, and Euro Truck Simulator in 4k without any issues. So the fact that this game is taking this much computer power is an issue. It's a fun game, but at this stage, I just can't recommend it to anyone. However, if this ever gets fixed, I'm more than happy to amend my review.
This is the worst early access game I have ever played. I was expecting something more like the other simulator games I play but there is no pattern to this game at all. I can't keep books on the shelf because each customer is buying a bunch of the same title. Unless there are some drastic changes I would not play this game again.

This game scratches so many itches for my neurodivergent brain: it's a relaxing and low-stimulus/stress game that helps me unwind; it has a ton of collectibles with the ability to use community-created content to fill my stores with just the books/comics/games that I want (all with clever Trademark- and copyright-safe names that make me laugh); and it's all about books! Maybe my favorite shop simulator of all time.
