genuinely unplayable on steam deck due to tiny font size, which is a shame because it looks like it'd be a perfect steam deck game. It's also a shame that the font size problem has been a known issue for over ~5 years now, if you check the steam discussions, so it's unlikely that it will ever get fixed.
I don’t normally roll melee class in arpgs but iv been having a lot of fun maining knight. With a newborn at home it’s hard for me to sit down and game like I used to, This has been a great game to squeeze in my small windows of time.
Now after fully 100% the game, I think I am finally able to rate the game. The game over all is good. Nice art style, hack&slash. The story is okay, a bit "the princess is in another castle" but just with other things. At least here and there good for few giggles. If you like big numbers and not being able to see what's going on, on the screen, this game is perfect. So many different options to build your characters. The blacksmith crafting for your gear is one of the best I've ever seen in any game, some *cough* bigger ARPG could learn a thing or two. However, the endgame or even to get to the endboss, is very very grindy, to the point it was not fun at all anymore. I don't mind grinding for gear like the Nether but damn, grinding for levels or the worst to max level your skills is just way too long. To max one skill you need 80-120 Battlefield stages, the max exp required per skill should be lower. Overall, I would play it again here and there but I would never go for endgame grinding anymore, just too stale and long.
Grindtrash: dev ran out of ideas for content and laid everything on a basically endless arena with a set of tasks you have to complete before entering the castle. That's ~30 hours of grinding the same 20 enemies or so with mostly annoying 'difficulty' affixes that barely increases your loot take (assuming you survive). Clearly they spent more time making the game look cute than actually developing content. 'Small indie dev' is an excuse since it's been 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years since release, too...
its cute and charming for what it is. but and thats a big BUT the endgame is just a terrible screeching halt. just pure tedious repetive slog. and that one boss as a roadblock for the second trial is the worst gatekeeping to progress ive ever encountered in a game. and sorry but no, i dont feel like grinding for the next 40 levels to even have a chance at beating it eventually by running the arena or maps or the temple over and over again to pass the mandatory dps check powercreep incarnate boss. it just doesnt feel worth it.
Early in but such a huge fan of the flexibility in the skill system, quality of combat and overall more engaging feel of the gameplay.
Pro: Love how the different weapons help create different builds Con: Game play loop is very monotonous
