Yeah, its fine. If you're into geneology and one of those people who get off on knowing other people's family drama then this is for you. It does what it says on the box and the price is right. But I honestly only played as far as the end of the base game and that was enoguh for me... 7/10

This is a fun and satisfying investigation game. The family drama is really engaging, the characters feel very real, and the quality of the writing is great. The UI is truly excellent, and the investigation activities are smooth and comfortable. It's really satisfying to follow down all the leads and uncover the evidence. There are so many little bits and pieces that you have to connect together, so when things come into focus and the big picture reveals itself there are plenty of great "ah ha!" moments to enjoy. That said, the game isn't particularly difficult, and most of the big pieces of evidence are heavily signposted, so if you're looking for a real brain-twister then perhaps this isn't what you're after. If I have to pick holes, I would say that some of the clues are buried pretty deep in walls of text, and at the end of the game there it starts to feel a little bit like finding a needle in a haystack, which isn't fun to me. However, there is a built-in hint system, so if you aren't having fun, you can skip over those bits. Anyway, this is a great way to spend a few hours of your evening, so if you like puzzles and want something pretty chill to play, go for it.

游戏荒碰到这样一款游戏真是太快乐了，优秀的信息检索推理，适中的难度还有小黄鸭做保底。玩本体的时候偶尔会想死了一家人，但是所有人的重点在遗产上，我和雇主在追寻家族故事和秘密，没有人悲伤；玩DLC的时候所有人在拿他们家的隐秘狂欢，我一开始想的是查出轨，过后惊觉出轨无人在意[strike]正主都死了 [/strike]，在意的还是遗产，为此深究毫无道理的血脉的真实性。 [spoiler] 就这信托方式，感觉后人就拼了命的生拼了命的占份额，阴谋论感觉可以这么写：盖伊拼命出轨加后人，假死后搞鲁特里诅咒，谋杀大部分其他家族成员，复活归来又能成总裁摘桃子，他一家还可以侵吞所有信托基金，复活还能把米拉克一家的传教生态位给占了 [/spoiler] 最后谢谢劳伦，什么都写太仗义了，[strike] 还有查尔顿你秃头真的很难看 [/strike]

信息检索类推理解密，真探和奥伯拉丁的回归的感觉，画风说实话也就一般，没什么建模也没什么操作，我感觉挺小成本的，纯纯立绘往上面一摆就完了，UI一般，注重在简洁和丝滑，这一点还不错，信息检索我感觉没有真探做的好，多个窗口没法自由移动，一次只能显示一个窗口，而且相关信息没有我想象得多，也就是说我感觉它堆料没有堆够……相关美术配套倒是做得挺不错的，照片都一眼能看出重点也不缺真实感，大家族的故事编的还可以，至少没有让我对茫茫多的外文人名迷茫太久，就让我很清楚地意识到了每个角色的特色，轮廓描写这一块还是很不错的。作品整体气质比较偏舞台剧，也就是说有制作人埋的彩蛋和打破第四面墙的地方，有些文本更是把提示喂到嘴边，也让它显得不那么硬核，给我的感觉其实是中规中矩……本篇说实话没什么难度，因为有族谱框架和大名单，基本不会检索错人物，但是狂热就有点离谱了，就算说查找人名还算难度合适（其实这一步就有一些信息检索途径相当离谱了），最后判断血统真伪实在是过于变态，而且我依旧觉得官方给出的答案理由不够充分没法完全说服我。好在看攻略的话全成就不难。

Phenominal. The Roottrees are Dead is one of the best puzzle games I have ever played. The "Return of the Obra Dinn" inspiration is obvious, but I think that you can point to the different setting and themes, and say that this is not derivative, but instead an expansion. I really felt like a detective, piecing together vague hints to form a theory, then seeing it proven true when i filled out the family tree. I was genuinely fist pumping when I figured something out that wasn't immediately obvious. It's a gripping way to tell a story, piecing together a chronological story with achronological evidence. And then, once you fill out the family tree, it turns out theres a hard mode set a year later, with even more to uncover.

This game sunk it's claws into me so deep that I never closed it. I played this game for 4 hour straight and could not stop, AND there's a whole other game mode I play now. If you like detective games you NEED to play this one.
