Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 8.14/day in the week to Aug 19 → 24.57/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The year is 1998. A private jet belonging to the Roottree Corporation has crashed. On it were the Roottree Sisters and their parents. Combined, they were worth over a billion dollars.
Now, due to the eccentricities of their great-great-grandfather Elias, their money must be redistributed to the rest of the family. But who's actually a BLOOD RELATIVE? That's where you come in.
Armed only with the power of your mighty dial-up modem, you'll scour for photos, books, articles and other evidence. Then, you'll make connections and deductions based on the family relationships you uncover. With every spot on the tree you fill in correctly, the names and photos left in your possession will have fewer and fewer places to go — but the evidence will also be harder and more obscure to find.
Can you put together the final pieces of the puzzle?

i honestly just wanna finish it and move on. ancestry.com simulator, the story is very boring and in the 10 hours i've played, i have learned absolutely nothing that is actually of interest. you just figure out who is who, and that is basically it?? i'm not seeing where the mystery in the story is at all ngl. seems like an overhyped game
While the gameplay is obviously very reminiscent of Obra Dinn , the genealogical spin on building a family tree instead of a insurance report feels fresh and interesting. And whilst you might be thinking : "What possible twists and turns could there be in a Family Tree?" . Well this tree has been growing for a while and for all you know , plenty other branches could have been grafted to it , without anyone noticing. Truly , I cant say I have many complaints , besides the inclusion of the Duck Hint button . While usually it just helps you get to a conclusion on your own , other times it just gives you the plain answer so you move on in the investigation . Which sounds like a inclusive feature for those who just get stuck a lot , for me it eventually turned into a just get on with it button . And for me coming to conclusions on my own is the most satisfying feeling when it comes to detective games like these and hence the presence of the solution button tempts my self control a lot and I don't like that. What was I talking talking about again? Being accessible is a bad thing in games sometimes? What? Anyways play the game, its pretty good.

Worth the time working out the mystery, it's definitely not easy, but it's very interesting and keeps you guessing the whole time. If you're a puzzle solver, then this is for you.
I got the gnarly brain fog and cognitive loss from my 2 bouts of covid, so I've been playing detective and logic puzzle games in an effort to combat that. I started this game yesterday afternoon thinking I could just do little chunks of it at a time like I do with the Murdle books. But then OOPS I stayed up until 1am finishing the main game and I'm about to spend most of this afternoon doing Roottreemania. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say that this game is amazing and deeply engrossing. If you like mysteries and logic puzzles, play this game. If you don't love it, I'll eat my hat. Which would be a neat trick as I don't have one.

tl;dr the first half (The Roottrees are Dead) is **PERFECT**, the second half (Roottreemania) is...frustrating like a failed attempt to copy the first. I guess this is still a yes but keep that in mind. Roottreemania ruins a core part of fun of the original Roottree: cross-referencing of materials. In the original Roottree you're working with materials about a whole family, so you get stories from different angles, putting those pieces together and revealing new keywords make the network and your mapping of the whole story complete, packed with "wow wtf" moments. In Roottreemania you aren't really working with one family tree, but many of them that aren't related to each other at all. It'd be too simple if everything are just a few keywords away right? So to delay your search, the team made more hops towards the end, added more periodicals, piles of irrelevant haystacks that aren't even good red herrings. Many of the searches no longer feels like "wait this is a direction" but more "yeah I have to meticulously go through all keywords I don't know why". This becomes a frustrating process of diving down rabbit holes that are deep just for the sake of it, mixed with red herrings muddling up your mind map even more. There are moments that I have webs/chains of a certain group of people and I was just too lost that I don't even remember why did I have that chain in the first place. Needless to say that means there's not much storytelling when it's just branches of shallow "lives of someone". I wish Roottreemania was nearly as polished and crafted as the original Roottree. One evidence of how messy Roottreemania is that I have to use up every single page of my notebook - didn't have to use that much at all when solving the original Roottree. The fanned out rabbit holes and a bad note-taking UI combined is a nightmare. If I have to redesign the UI, the first thing I'd do is add post-it to the corkboard, it would be at least much easier to solve any timeline puzzles with a more visualized mind map.
