The world’s collapse and the origins of the Infected are still being developed. For now, the focus is on survival systems and giving players freedom in how they play.
The Infected is in active Early Access development. Some features are still being added and balanced, and you may encounter bugs or performance issues. We’re a small team building this game with the help of community feedback. If you’re looking for a complete experience, you may wish to wait. However, if you want to help shape the development, we welcome you now!
The aim is to deliver a feature-rich survival crafting game with more systems and player choice than most of the genre. Survival can mean farming, base-building, or facing hostile AI — the choice is yours.

Great Low budget survival game. Has all the core ingredients to keep you hooked for 100s of hours. Frequently updated and positive changes are always made. This being one of the first survival games I played will always be one I come back too. Loads of stuff to craft and the Bi homes are a great addition. The wildlife is fascinating and hunting crocs makes it a treat to play. Dev has done an awesome job and the infected are what EA games should aspire to be.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i've had this game for a couple years, and almost nothing has changed. it is still a clunky game not really worth my time. if you want to build a small base like a 5x5 that is going to take you about 4hrs do to and you have 9 bars to worry about while you build. you have no hot bar in the bottom, making you go into your inv to find out what weapons or tools you have. the zombies are super powerful and the spear breaks after taking 1 1/2 of them out, which you don't have time to craft another one so you die. you cant hold more than one tool or weapon in your backpack so if the spear breaks it is gg you lose. you can get sun burned which is cool but having a in depth hunger bar, a stam bar, a im sleepy bar, water bar, and the sun burn bar, it goes from survival craft to bar manager sim. healing is a pain in the game as well. food, water, and bandages do nothing you need sleep or med kit to heal. that means after an attack you have to cure infection or bleeding and get no health from it. the game just feels unfinished, tedious, and punishing for the player and this is coming from someone with 1.3k hours in rust.
My review is negative, but I'll try to be as constructive as possible. This game is way too complicated for new comers. No tutorials or proper in-game explanation of how to get some crafting materials. Simple bandages, so you could heal yourself, feels like a top tear items. One of the ingredients for it is tallow (wtf is tallow?). In order to get tallow from animals, you need butchers table, but before you can build one, you need to find a blueprint for it, for goodness sake, and to figure that one out, I had to look online. WHAT?! Now, imagine how many times you are going to die before you find that bloody blueprint. GOOD LUCK! I played Subsistence, in comparison - quite a challenging title too with its own complications. However, there are tutorials in place, you can read them and figure stuff out, and all makes sense in the end. The Infected on the other hand won't show that user friendly approach. I suppose, after playing for some time you will figure stuff out eventually, but I wish there was a better description in itempedia of where to source crafting materials from, not just what can you do with them. When you play this game as someone new, you can have fun say building base, but you will have many question and the game won't give you any clues on how to resolve them. I had to spend hours to figure stuff out, then googling for some info. Crafting recipe for making nails, for an instance. I had to look online to figure that one out, and that goes to many other items. When you place the anvil, what can you use it for? Where is a list of possible crafting recipes for it? WTF? It shouldn't be like that. Man, my life is difficult enough at times, but this game will challenge all you know about what is difficult. Most of us played The Forest, and in there all recipes are revealed to you once you place crafting items on a crafting surface. It was very intuitive. The Infected is total opposite. I suppose, the developer of The Infected is talented enough to put a game together, but just doesn't feel intelligent enough to pass the information, that is inside his head, over to others. No offence. When introducing a game mechanics, shouldn't you, as a developer, think about description of that mechanics for players? Gaming should be fun, and your game is not fun at all. My personal best craft\survival title from indie developers is Valheim, but at times I prefer to play something modern. This is where all these titles come up: Mist Survival (used to be fun, but is a complete mess in it's current state, over 400 hours), Subsistence (300 hours), and now The Infected. Unfortunately, non of these titles got level of Valheim overall game play quality, and that is shame. Oh, by the way, if you are a fun of The Infected, throw a Jester at me for making a negative review. Thanks!
『Sons OF The Forest』の主人公にはできなかった。 『Sons OF The Forest』の主人公は出来たぞ。
Absolutely terrible. How has this game been in early access for 5 years and still has this clunky, slow U.I. The combat feels horrific, and the game runs like trash (with a 4060 Ti, 32 GBs of ram, i7-14700f). This is a game I would get for free on my tablet in 2015. This game would be barely worth 3 dollars, let alone 15. I cant discourage people from getting this game enough.
Bought and played the hell out this game a few years back and saw great potential, sort of lost interest with a new map and deleted progress every update. Started playing DayZ and even got into modding Xbox and PC Servers but began getting tired of the repetitiveness of it all. Saw some cool new stuff for this game so I reinstalled it. I believe it still has potential, but as of now its unplayable. Camera shakes making it hard to do anything even as simple as picking up a rock from the ground, and the game crashes every 10 minutes basically shuts down my video card and I have to reset my PC and since I lose all video I can't even get any kind of error logs or code for what happened. A couple times I even had to delete and reinstall drivers for the video card. When it does run frame rate is terrible and super choppy, if I'm running through a heavily wooded area god forbid I have to turn because I don't know which way I wind up facing and have to open the map every 5 seconds to make sure I'm still facing the right direction
If you love building bases, crafting, mining, cooking, blueprints, adventuring/exploring areas, looting, and fighting zombies, you should check this game out :)
Have played for 238 hours. I like best the customization options. You can decide difficulty by determining if you want predators and how many zambies you want to encounter and where. You can turn zambies off altogether if you just want to build. I personally like to fight things, so I enjoy the enemy customization options. Construction is straight forward, and while there aren't as many building pieces as other games, it is enough. I like the progress in available workbenches. Finding technology is a bit of a grind, but you can turn off technology requirements if you like. Critique: I would like to see more of a variety in enemies. I have encountered 3 or 4 zambie types and it would be nice if there more. Also, more variety in zambie attacks would be nice. They are pretty predictable, which is good if you want your game easier, but not so good if you want a little more difficulty.
