Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Sep 1 → 1.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Bare in mind i haven't played for a long time, but coming from other crafting survival it lacks in the interaction part. I am sure this will hit the spot for some players, but it didn't for me. The main issue i have with the game is purely because everything is done through menues. What I mean is, cutting down a tree is done by going up to the tree, opening a menu, pressing a button and the tree falls. I breaks the immersion of the game to the point where half of the game is a menu. If you come from Valhalla, 7 Days to die, Rust, green hell or any other new crafting survival with a good immersion, id suggest to stay away from this one.
The time skip mechanic is tolerable for some things even trees, but having to skip 45 minutes to cook something in the fire instead of doing chores around the base or cutting wood while the food cooks is unacceptable. Most of these things should be simulated. At least have a shoddy icon and timer like the forest does, but preventing me from doing anything else for 45 minutes, as if the character would spend all that time staring at the fire while the food cooks is lazy design and makes no sense.
Great at first, but eventually exhausting
Survival: Fountain of Youth made a really good first impression on me. The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere works, exploration is rewarding and the whole castaway fantasy is genuinely well done. The first hours are great: finding water and shelter, crafting your first tools and slowly learning how to survive is very satisfying. For context, I'm very familiar with open-world survival/crafting games. I've played Grounded 1 & 2, Return to Moria, The Planet Crafter, Astroneer, Abiotic Factor, Subnautica, Raft and many others. I don't mind resource management, preparation, gathering, crafting chains or spending hours decorating a base. That's the genre and exactly what I enjoy about it.
Friction everywhere
The problem is that the further I got into Fountain of Youth, the more I felt that the game mistakes friction for depth. There are just so many small things constantly working against you. Stamina is probably the worst offender, but durability isn't far behind. Draining stamina while running is an ABSOLUTE FREAKING no-go in ANY game and a critical game design mistake. At the very least, if you really want to inflict this on players, give us the option to disable stamina drain while running... Tools wear out quickly, which is already quite annoying, but that's not all... repairing them progressively reduces their maximum durability, so even repairing something is only a temporary solution before you'll eventually have to replace it anyway. And you find this philosophy everywhere, even in mechanics that barely matter. Stored water in water collectors slowly evaporates. It's honestly not a big deal and it's easy to compensate for, but... why? Why did storing water need its own little additional inconvenience too? Healing is much worse. I actually like the idea that a basic bandage stops bleeding instead of magically restoring HP, but recovering health becomes needlessly complicated. Natural regeneration requires both your food and water to be above 80% (seriously...) and illnesses can block it entirely, otherwise you need more advanced medicine. Why not have bandages stop bleeding and give us some kind of healing ointment for HP recovery? The game already has enough survival systems. Storage is also way too restrictive considering the ridiculous number of resources you're expected to keep. I ended up with containers everywhere and spent far too much time figuring out where I had put things. Being able to rename chests is clearly a missing option. Stems not being automatically used as fuel when stored in a chest is also annoying and doesn't make much sense when you can craft most things using resources directly from chests. The fact that you need to craft a special tool just to use a building is EVEN MORE annoying. In NONE of the survival games I've played did I need something like that... And since your backpack is already quite limited and you need these tools to use most buildings, you end up leaving them all in a chest. So you spend your time taking them out, using the building, putting them back, taking them out again. Kill me....
Base building made me NOT want to build a base
Base building is probably the best example of how all these inconveniences combine into something much worse. You cut down a tree, pick up the log and immediately become so encumbered that carrying it back is painfully slow. And getting it home isn't even the end: you still need to put it through a carpentry workstation to turn it into four Builder's Toolkits, which finally allow you to build four floors or walls. Of course, cutting down the few trees near your base isn't advised either, as they won't grow back and you'll lose the precious resources growing on them. So you go further, to the nearest forest... people will understand the pain I went through carrying logs, first by hand, then by cart, from the forest to the cave... Players have apparently figured out the obvious workaround: move the carpentry workstation INTO the d*mn forest, process the logs there and carry the toolkits home instead. It works, but it's ridiculous that moving the workshop to the forest is preferable to transporting wood back to your base. The game eventually gives you a cart capable of transporting several logs, but now you're slowly dragging a cart back and forth instead. So I just... didn't build much. I stayed in the starting cave. It already has a floor, walls and a roof, and the game made building those things myself sufficiently unpleasant that I couldn't see much reason to bother.
And then I reached copper...
Copper is where the game finally lost me. It's far away on another island. Mining it takes a huge amount of stamina, the ore is extremely heavy and doing it with your primitive pickaxe destroys its durability incredibly quickly. You can easily reach the point where bringing a sleeping bag and sleeping near the deposit makes sense because your character is simply too exhausted. And of course you urgently want a copper pickaxe, because continuing to mine copper with the primitive one is miserable. None of that would necessarily bother me on its own. Copper is a major technological upgrade, so making the player work for it is fine. I actually like preparing an expedition to another island for a valuable resource. What killed it for me was getting the copper home and discovering that the ordeal of obtaining it was only the first half of the process. Most survival/crafting games I've played keep this relatively simple. You mine ore, smelt it into ingots and craft your new equipment. Some add another specialized workstation, fine. Fountain of Youth instead has you process the copper through a dedicated structure, use another workstation to turn it into blades/components, and then go through another crafting step to finally produce your copper axe, knife, spear, pickaxe and so on. I had already sailed to another island, exhausted myself mining the ore, wrecked my pickaxe and hauled this extremely heavy resource home. I wanted the payoff to be my new tools. Instead, I discovered another production chain. I don't need a miniature industrial process just to upgrade my god d*mn axe. And then you realize copper isn't even the final metal tier. There's still iron afterwards...
Survival should gradually turn into mastery
That's really my main issue with Fountain of Youth. I like survival games where the beginning is brutal but progression gradually allows you to master the environment. The crappy tools are temporary. Gathering gets faster. Storage improves. Transportation improves. You solve basic needs and your attention shifts towards exploration and larger goals. Here, I rarely had that feeling. Too often the reward for dealing with one inconvenience is simply gaining access to another. The cart solves log capacity, but introduces the joy of dragging a cart around. Repairing saves an item, but reduces its maximum durability. Better tools require increasingly tedious production chains. Even water collectors get a tiny evaporation mechanic attached to them. None of these things individually ruin the game. It's the accumulation that eventually wore me down. And that's a shame because Fountain of Youth does a lot right. I really like its world, the historical setting gives it a strong identity, exploration gives you a genuine reason to keep moving, and the first hours do a fantastic job of making you feel like a castaway slowly learning how to survive. I can absolutely see why someone looking for a very methodical, simulation-heavy survival game would love it. I did too at first. But for me, a good survival game gradually turns struggle into mastery. Fountain of Youth eventually felt like it was turning struggle into more struggle.
Time. That is what all these "hyper-realistic" survival games dont understand. Spend 20 minutes hunting, go hungry again in 30 minutes. Spend 10 minutes gathering kilograms of wood for a fire, it goes out in like 5 minutes. The effort to payoff ratio is all messed up.
this is nothing but a simple menu simulator... EVERY single thing is a menu, a pop up screen, immersion breaking and just plain bad... this is open world survival builder game?? and you cant even cut down a tree?? you need to open up a screen menu and pick the options, do you want to pick its leaves or cut it down, NO animation NOTHING, just pick what you want and it tells you how much time it will take and then it just skips.. say what?? you dont play this game, you just pick options in the infinite menu screens.. levels of disappointment are maxed out on this one..
Wirklich schade!
Caribbean Durability Simulator. Don't get me wrong, I like this game. One of the best single player immersive survival, base building, and adventuring games around. It's too bad it didn't get more visibility. It has a unique crafting mechanic where there's a "time passing" element. So basically everything you do takes time. If you want to craft a knife, it might take 20 minutes or so. If you want to turn your seaweed into cloth, that might take 4 hours. In either case, time passes via a status bar. You the player don't wait very long, but for your character the time passes in the world. Hunger and thirst have built, energy has drained, and time of the day has passed. If you go too far and are crafting at night, you run a chance of injury. Also every craft consumes tool durability. The base building is pretty good here. It's not the best in the genre, but its got most of the necessary components and late game you get to build some pretty cool forts or bigger settlements for yourself. Most of the early and mid game though is pretty utilitarian. Recipe unlocks are when you actually hold an item. So when you pick up something new, you usually get new crafting recipes. What isn't obvious is that when you craft a machine (like a tanning bench or something), you actually have to craft each item on the bench in order to unlock the recipes related to those items. So for a while I was treading water trying to understand what I was doing wrong, when what I secretly missed was making two things on my benches and those had me locked out of key progression recipes. The one thing I will say is that this game, especially the early game, is quite grindy. You go through a LOT of tools, and water and food start out pretty sparse. It's not hard per se, but you are constantly running around gathering materials to build replacement tools or repair tools, and you are almost entirely surviving off of harvested coconuts for quite some time. The game really opens up once you get to the third region which is unfortunately really quite long into the game. But it is a fun ride as long as you keep up with the storage and just keep moving forward bit by bit. Overall I do really enjoy this game, and while it has its quirks and frustrations (omg the durability...), it's definitely worth it if you are looking for something truly single player focused, story based, and immersive. I definitely recommend.
