Mick Carter's been drifting a while now- moving from job to job, never staying one place long. Jumping a box-car to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by hi-tech soldiers, thrown in a reservoir and drowned.

The Drifter is our take on a classic 2d point and click adventure, with the brake-lines cut. The focus is on fast-paced storytelling, with puzzle-solving being the glue that ties it together. Mick's a practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth too, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel.
We're keeping the pacing quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost or confused- Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath. One minute you'll be crafting a Molotov cocktail from a bottle of over-proof rum, the next interrogating a crooked neurosurgeon before swinging from a high-rise window by a fraying extension lead.

Amazing game! The main plot is a pulpy conspiracy thriller, but the writing is excellent. The dialogue is natural and impactful when the game gets serious, and genuinely funny when it isn't. The voice acting and art style are great. I don't have much experience with point-and-click adventure games, but I found this one very enjoyable. It was fast-paced and the puzzles weren't frustrating.
10/10 Feels like an old school style point and click adventure with a really interesting and catching story. It is worth every penny.

Pretty good point-and-click game. Interesting story that keeps you engaged with meaningful themes, voice acting for all dialogue is nice, and some of the puzzles are challenging enough to keep you guessing without being too absurd. Overall, it was a good time. Would be cool to see a sequel or even something else set in this universe.

Worth every cent
Got me addicted to good point and click adventures. I fiend now for many games that don't exist close to this genre. My most missed feature was the unique dual joystick setup. So far The Excavation of Hob's Barrow did meet some of those expectations. I haven't tried a lot tho, but from research doesn't seem like many compare. Thimbleweed Park is close, but the classic verb system I really do hate, especially as a controller user. Next up is Return to Monkey Island.
The Drifter is an awesome point-and-click adventure with a gripping sci-fi story, creepy atmosphere, and fantastic pixel art. The puzzles are challenging without feeling unfair, and the fast-paced moments keep the game feeling fresh. Highly recommended for anyone who loves classic adventure games with a dark, mysterious twist!
