About
A Pulp Adventure Thriller from the minds that brought you Peridium and Crawl.
An engrossing roller-coaster of a story- Drawing on King, Crichton and Carpenter, with a dash of 70s Aussie grindhouse.
Point 'n Click or Controller- Unique twin-stick controls make The Drifter as comfy to play on the couch as at your PC.
Bursting with raw crunchy pixel art and high-impact animation.
Professionally voice acted, with a brooding dark-synth cinematic score.
Mick Carter's been drifting a while now- moving from job to job, never staying one place long. Jumping a box-car to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by hi-tech soldiers, thrown in a reservoir and drowned.
And that's just the start of Mick's problems.
His consciousness ripped away, thrust back into his own body seconds before his death...
Framed for the killing he witnessed, tormented by his own past, and haunted by the feeling that something followed him back from the other side...
Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a lunatic web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand-year obsession of a madman.
The Drifter is our take on a classic 2d point and click adventure, with the brake-lines cut. The focus is on fast-paced storytelling, with puzzle-solving being the glue that ties it together. Mick's a practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth too, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel.
We're keeping the pacing quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost or confused- Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath. One minute you'll be crafting a Molotov cocktail from a bottle of over-proof rum, the next interrogating a crooked neurosurgeon before swinging from a high-rise window by a fraying extension lead.
Sums Steam only; GOG, Nintendo publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Reviews
One of the best point and clicks I've played, excels in many dimensions.
The Drifter — 2026 Review – Sometimes its ok to be stuck. There are certain games that don't just remind you of other games. They remind you of a completely different time in your life. When my family got our first computer, some of my earliest gaming memories were sitting with my mom playing games like Myst, The Secret of Monkey Island, King's Quest, and Indiana Jones. Back then, point-and-click adventure games felt enormous. You weren't following quest markers or checking a guide on your phone every twelve seconds. You stared at the screen, clicked on everything that looked remotely suspicious, combined random objects in your inventory, and occasionally spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to solve things. Poor Graham shook that broken wand at anything that was selectable in King’s Quest V. Yet somehow, that was awesome. So even though my gaming tastes have moved heavily toward JRPGs over the years, I've always had a soft spot for point-and-click adventure games. The Drifter scratched that itch and cleaned my palate beautifully. And its funny because I actually thought I was about to play the game Replaced……which I will be getting to eventually. phenomenal
Great game. Did not feel like it was too short.
Great pixels, Great story, Great voice acting. That's three Gs. If you need one more, great way to kill a weekend. Buy it.
## What I Liked - The core story and writing is phenomenal. It has weight and maturity that I didn't expect. - The controls! This is the best modern adventure game controls that I have every played, it is intuitive and makes it a joy to play through. - The visuals are great and though they are retro inspired, there is a fluidity to them that makes it feel modern. ## What I Didn't Like - There are a couple times where I'm just wandering around trying to think of what unique combination of actions would get me to progress. ## Gameplay A modern take on an adventure game in a way that a lot of others don't try to approach it. I mentioned it above, but the controls are just fantastic. You don't have to think much about how you are controlling the game and that let's you get totally immersed in what's happening. The world feels grimy and everyone you run across is a character you want to know more about. The gameplay with the flashbacks feels like you really are avoiding death, and they aren't afraid to show you the horrific fate if you don't outsmart the situation. What really ties this whole game together though is the main characters background and coming to terms with it. It's hard to find believable, flawed characters in games as they are often either the hero or a blank slate for you to project your imagination onto. In contrast, Mick is a human who makes selfish decisions which people would judge him on. You can see the life he had and the impact his choices made to those around him. ## Graphics & Sound Yes, it is another pixel art game, but what really sets it apart is how modern that art feels. It is high density and fluid, it feels alive instead of mechanical. The voice acting and music ties everything together. It imparts more than reading through the story beats ever could have, and that is exactly what I want out of an adventure game. ## Would I Recommend It? Yes, 100x yes. It is everything I would have wanted out of an adventure game and I think it's a great starting point to the genre if you haven't dived into them before. It is a complete game as well, it ties everything up and explores all the ideas it want's too. ### Who Should Skip It Those who just aren't willing to work with the adventure game format. I'm sure some would want more gameplay out of their games, which is totally fair, but this is an experience that only this format could provide. ## PC Spec CPU: i7-14700K Memory: 32GB Video Card: RTX 3080 Storage Type: NVMe Monitor resolution: 5120x1440
