Reviews
How do I explain this game? Well, it's a visual novel which follows two psychopathic young adults, with a very dark, mature and disturbing story. Gameplay elements are light, mainly consisting of "Walk here, collect that, use it there, talk to this person, continue", but it doesn't need to be more; it's enough to keep you engaged and not idle. I found the humour funny and sardonic, and the character dynamics I think are very interesting, as you learn about just how twisted the people you are playing as are. This game made me feel very uncomfortable in quite a few segments (purposefully), and it just helps further invest you in the game - I have only finished two of the available endings so far, and am still looking to complete the rest (wish me luck ;)) - but as I was saying, yes, the game has this strange ability to draw you in and invest you in this tangled story of manipulation and murder, to the point where I'm left thinking about events after the fact and the possibility of what could happen. You know in your hearts that you should, under no circumstances, like the characters - but with the way the story is portrayed, you end of liking these deplorable "human" (I don't believe these monsters can be classified as human anymore) beings. This game is not for everybody. If you wanted a lighthearted tale of adventure and whimsy, this is DEFINITELY not that. If you wanted action and fight scenes, you won't get much more than still images and text (and sound effects, of course). This is a surprisingly complex game, both in characters and narrative, as there are multiple routes to choose from, but even still the game may not be for everybody. As I stated earlier, the game is dark, and it's disturbing, and it will make you uncomfortable, but it's all part of this wonderfully twisted story they've conjured up from the depths of Hell. I think, despite its flaws and controversies, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is a very good game. The game is like Marmite: you either love it or you don't (or you're indifferent and nonchalant and cool like that). If you are considering buying the game, do be aware that it is not fully out yet. Episodes are still being released, so if you play through it, chances are you'll be left on a cliffhanger for an indeterminate period of time, though there is still a substantial amount of content still within the game (I think the average 100% time for this current edition of the game is around 25-30 hours?). I think it's worth it. Thank you for reading.

The only game that has ever made me feel physically sick, so make of that what you will. I went in expecting a weird little psychological horror game and came out needing to stare at a wall for a bit. It starts as dark comedy, but the more routes/endings you see, the more genuinely uncomfortable it gets. The writing carries it. Andrew and Ashley are horrible, funny, fascinating, and deeply broken in a way that makes you want to stop playing and keep clicking at the same time. Not for everyone, especially if disturbing themes or toxic relationships put you off, but if you want psychological horror that actually makes you uncomfortable, it does its job. Cursed game. Good game. I need a shower.
